- Swedish documentary film maker. Initially studied natural science at the University of Stockholm, but dropped out to work as a stage director under Rudolf Klein-Rogge. From there, he progressed to photography, winning a film magazine award. He decided, henceforth, on a career as a nature photographer. His initial effort in 1941, a short feature financed by himself, was so successful that he managed to obtain a grant from the Svensk Filmindustri for a series of further documentaries. He made his first full-length feature in 1953 as a free-lance director. In 1971, he filmed the animal scenes for "Mr. Forbush and the Penguins".
