The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering 2001 Maniacs was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Kier Gomes, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Robert Englund doing a demented Colonel Sanders impression. Lin Shaye putting on a deadly song and dance routine. Enough politically incorrect elements to offend pretty much everybody. Buckets of gore. Gratuitous nudity. And a cameo appearance by Eli Roth, playing his Cabin Fever character. Put all of this together and you get 2001 Maniacs (watch it Here). The director calls it a “splatstick” movie. Splatter combined with slapstick comedy. We call it The Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Herschell Gordon Lewis was a classy guy, but he specialized in making movies that were not classy. His aim was to give the grindhouse and drive-in crowds the things Hollywood wasn’t giving them. Noting...

Film and TV production spending in New Jersey topped 650 million in 2022, a record level of lensing activity that reflects the Garden State’s efforts to woo Hollywood productions.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy disclosed the milestone earlier this week, touting the success generated since he reinstated the state’s production tax incentive program in 2018. Murphy was in California this week to continue his campaign, meeting with studio, production and tech entities to talk up the benefits of filming across the river from Manhattan.
Movies and TV series shot in New Jersey yielded more than 8,500 jobs last year. That number is expected to grow because the state saw a surge of activity after Thanksgiving, Murphy said.

Tobe Hooper.
At the mere mention of his name, which of the late filmmaker’s works leap to mind?
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, of course. Certainly his most iconic film, and surely his masterpiece.
How about that film’s gonzo 80s sequel? Or perhaps Eaten Alive, his EC-tinged grindhouse film featuring a maniacal hotel proprietor and his pet crocodile? Maybe your mind leaps to his blockbuster spook story Poltergeist, his nightmarish alien invasion remake Invaders from Mars, or his superb television miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot?
But what of The Funhouse, Hooper’s stylish, scary entry in the then-burgeoning teen slasher boom? Released in 1981, a golden year for releases in that subgenre, The Funhouse stands as a vital entry in the filmmaker’s canon, marrying his penchant for dark humor and grisly horror with a studio budget, paving the way for much of his work throughout the next decade.

New Jersey is accelerating its efforts to bring TV and film productions to the Garden State with the expansion of its tax incentive program. As part of that effort, PR veteran Darryl Isherwood has been appointed senior adviser for economic development communications and the sector lead for film and digital media at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed an expansion of the state’s tax credit program this week that expands the program’s support of digital media productions, increasing the cap to $30 million, from $10 million, and it adjusts the terms governing how much of that content has to be produced in New Jersey to qualify for the credit.

Hasbro’s My Little Pony has gone through quite a few different overhauls since the popular plaything’s initial creation in the 1980s. Not only have the toys themselves changed, morphing from a traditional cutesy cartoon style to a pushed anime-inspired appearance, but so have each of the films and televised series, progressively modernizing their aesthetics and storytelling. The franchise hit an all-time high when the “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” era began in 2010, ushering in a new congregation of die-hard fans — not just young girls, but also “Bronies,” the affectionate nickname given to the passionate (some to the point of toxic) adult male fanbase.
The latest iteration, “My Little Pony: A New Generation,” lightly taps the reboot button, taking the prior decade’s series sensibilities another step. Paying homage to the past while telling a new tale about a filly’s seemingly impossible quest to reunite three fractured...

NBC has renewed non-scripted competition series The Wall for a fourth season.
The network has handed the show, which will see Chris Hardwick return as host, a 20-episode run.
This comes as it scheduled the three remaining episodes of the third season, which launched in March. The final episodes will air on October 1, October 21 and October 28 at 8pm.
Executive produced by LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Andrew Glassman and Hardwick, the game features two-person teams related by family, friendship or life experience competing for a cash prize. If a question is answered correctly a green ball falls down the five-story wall, adding the value of the slot to the players’ winning total. If it’s wrong, a red ball will fall and deduct the value from the team. With more than $13 million on the line, teammates have to work together to build a huge cash prize.
