- Carola Häggkvist was born September 8 1966 outside Stockholm, Sweden to parents Jan and Anita Häggkvist. 1983, at the age of 16, Carola represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest singing her breakthrough single "Främling" (Holm/Forsberg), and landed at #3 after Luxemburg and Isreal. Her debut album "Främling" (Mariann Music 1983) sold over 1.000.000 copies, and is still the most sold album in Sweden in history. The summer tour of 1983 set records at the box office at nearly every stop through Sweden. The album "Runaway" (Polydor International 1986) was written and produced by the BeeGees and released throughout Europe. Carola made her acting debut in the stage version of "The Sound of Music" in Stockholm 1995, for which she won the Swedish Guldmasken Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical/Comedy 1996. 1998 Carola gave Moses' sister Miriam her Swedish voice in "Prinsen Av Egypten" (The Prince of Egypt / Dreamworks 1998).
