Frameline, the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival concluded its 47th iteration on Saturday, June 24, with a screening of Taylor Mac’s 24-Decade History of Popular Music, directed by Oscar-winning duo Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (The Celluloid Closet). The documentary feature about the titular performer’s singular spectacle was preceded by the Festival’s annual Award Ceremony, which reaffirmed the dynamic future of queer cinema.
This year, the 11-day Festival ran from June 14–24, 2023, with events held in theaters across San Francisco, including the historic Castro Theatre, located in the heart of the city’s LGBTQ+ cultural district, and the Roxie Theater, Frameline’s longest-running partner theater. Exclusive: Robert Morgan’s Talaria Media has launched development on Arigato Tokyo, a new drama set in the world of women’s professional wrestling, after acquiring a feature pitch by Daytime Emmy winner Mark Blutman. Jamie Anderson is on board to direct the pic, with Morgan to exec produce.

Partners in Rhyme is returning soon for its second season. The Allblk streaming service has released a trailer teasing the sitcom's return. Mc Lyte, Precious Way, Ron G, Cloie Wyatt Taylor, Wesley Jonathan, Rolonda Watts, Bruce Nozick, Junn Baby, Maritza Lazcano, Xhaania Wright, Andrea Torres, Duane Ramos, Jeff Rolle Jr., Eric Nenninger, and Emonjay Brown star in the comedy which follows a legendary rapper who is helping her niece navigate the record industry, while also navigating her own massive debt.

Exclusive: Nico Tortorella (Younger, The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Juan Pablo Di Pace, Emmy nominee Carl Clemons-Hopkins and Emily Hampshire have signed on to star in The Mattachine Family, a drama executive produced by Zach Braff. The film is currently in production.
The first feature from video and commercial director Andy Vallentine centers on the relationship between Thomas (Tortorella) and Oscar (Di Pace). While the pair are very much in love, they find, after their first foster child returns to his birth mother, that they have different ideas about what it means to make a family.
Vallentine is directing from a script by his husband Danny Vallentine, which is based on a story by the pair.
Jake Choi, Annie Funke, Heather Matarazzo and Cloie Wyatt Taylor will round out the cast of the film, which Andy Vallentine is producing with Mike Diaz, Scot Boland, Siddharth Ganji and Cameron Hutchison.
