Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake, In Time Assisted by costlier 3D tickets, Paramount/DreamWorks Animation's Puss in Boots may gross $36-$38 million this Halloween weekend, after taking in an estimated $9 million at 3,952 locations on Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That would break Saw III's $33 million Halloween record of five years ago (not adjusted for inflation/3D surcharges) — though it would still be a relatively low figure for a DreamWorks release. Directed by Chris Miller, the Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots features the voices of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Billy Bob Thornton, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Sedaris, and Guillermo del Toro. Other new releases didn't fare nearly as well as Puss in Boots. At no. 3, newcomer In Time drew a so-so $4.9m and may go no further than $12-$13m by Sunday evening. Andrew Niccol directed; Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried star in the futuristic drama. Reviews have been tepid for...

You don't have to wait until next summer to see what Benjamin Walker is going to look like [1] as the ax-wielding, vampire killing 16th President of the United States. While most major films wait until after shooting is done to begin building hype, The New York Times has published a feature article on Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter that includes our first look at the film while it's still in production in Louisiana. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, produced by Tim Burton and based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, reimagines Lincoln's history. It surmises that Lincoln's parents were killed by vampires and that he dedicated the rest of his life to destroying all blood-suckers. It stars Walker as Lincoln, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as his wife, Mary Todd [2] and actors like Rufus Sewell [3], Dominic Cooper [4] and Anthony Mackie [5]. And though the idea is totally out there, Grahame-Smith thinks it's now more appropriate than ever,...

Actress Abigail Breslin, who voices Priscilla, behind the scenes on Rango, from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. Photo credit: Stephen Vaughan. Recently, Tribeca Flashpoint was invited to sit down and chat with one of the stars of Rango, Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, Zombieland, Janie Jones). Rango is an original animated comedy-adventure that reteams star Johnny Depp and his Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski. It's a 'fish-out-of-water' story about a chameleon in search of his identity. Breslin voices the character called Priscilla. We met at a suite in Chicago's Four Seasons Hotel. And I think I must've been half-expecting to see the little girl I was used to seeing on film, because I walked right past her as she sat on the sofa. Her mother Kim sat nearby, so I checked around the room and after realizing my mistake, I apologized and introduced myself. "Your hair threw me off,...

Michael Caine, Leonardo DiCaprio, Inception The Social Network's Aaron Sorkin was the winner for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Writers Guild (WGA) Awards, which are taking place tonight in Los Angeles and New York City. Christopher Nolan was named the winner in the Best Original Screenplay category for Inception. (David Seidler's screenplay for The King's Speech was ineligible according to WGA rules.) The Hurt Locker's Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal presented Sorkin with the award. "I think I wrote a good screenplay," TheWrap's Steve Pond quoted Sorkin as saying, "but David Fincher made a great movie." According to indieWIRE's Anne Thompson, that's exactly what Sorkin said when he won the USC Scripter Award yesterday. Photo: Inception (Stephen Vaughan / Warner Bros.)...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Inception In addition to its Best Ensemble win at the Critics Choice Awards, David O. Inception, Christopher Nolan's summer blockbuster disguised as a thought-provoking thriller, was the Broadcast Film Critics Association's Best Action Movie. The competition included Ben Affleck's The Town and Tony Scott's Unstoppable. Inception's stellar casts includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, and Ellen Page. Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard in Christopher Nolan‘s Inception Three-time Oscar nominee and Titanic, Shutter Island, and Inception star Leonardo DiCaprio has been granted a temporary restraining order against Livia Bistriceanu, a 41-year-old woman who reportedly has been stalking the actor and claims to be his wife and the expectant mother of his child. Additionally, according to an AP report, in one letter Bistriceanu sent to DiCaprio she indicated the belief that he was the father of baby Jesus. "Given this obsessive and harassing behavior, I am frightened of Ms. Bistriceanu and feel that my personal safety, and the personal safety of those around me, is in jeopardy," DiCaprio wrote in a sworn declaration. On Thursday, a Canadian woman, Aretha Wilson, pleaded not guilty to a charge of slashing DiCaprio’s face and neck with a piece of glass at a party in 2005. Leonardo DiCaprio in Inception The Other Guys Tops Box Office After three weekends on top, the Christopher Nolan-Leonardo DiCaprio thriller/sci-fier Inception was down one spot with $18.6m, according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. Following its regular attendance decrease pattern, Inception lost only 32.3% of its business when compared to the previous weekend. The film’s per theater average (at 3,418 sites) remained quite high: $5,442. For comparison’s sake: the well-received Annette Bening-Julianne Moore family comedy-drama The Kids Are All Right, currently playing at 994 venues after going wider only three weeks ago, averaged an estimated $2,622 this weekend — or less than half Inception‘s average. (All things being equal, movies showing at fewer locations will have higher per-theater averages.) Inception‘s total currently stands at $227.7m. Also in the Inception cast: Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, and Tom Berenger.

Leonardo DiCaprio in Christopher Nolan‘s Inception Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Nolan‘s sci-fi/thriller Inception was the no. 1 movie at the Us/Canada box office for the 11th straight day, according to figures found at Box Office Mojo. The good news: for the first time since its debut, Inception had the highest per-theater average among the top twelve movies, $1,600. The Annette Bening-Julianne Moore-Mark Ruffalo family comedy-drama The Kids Are All Right, after losing nearly two-thirds of its Sunday audience, was down one spot, with $1,347 at no. 2. The bad news: Inception earned $6.06m, down 40.5% from a week ago, thus failing to reach the $150m mark on Monday. Its total stood at $148.94m. So, that milestone will have to be crossed on Tuesday then. Also in the Inception cast: Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, Tom Berenger, and Michael Caine. Photo: Inception (Stephen Vaughan / Warner Bros.

Photo by Stephen Vaughan, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. The most buzzed-about movie of the summer is, no doubt about it, Chistopher Nolan's Inception. Funny thing is, most people don't even really know what Inception is about. All they know is that they want to see it. As a service, considering that most moviegoers have no idea what's in store for them, we address the white-hot buzz about the film and—very gingerly, so as to avoid ruining the movie for you—try to answer every question you may have about Inception. Q: Is it just me, or has Warner Bros. been extremely secretive about Inception? A: It's not just you. Q: You don't seem as talkative as usual. Is there a representative from Warner Bros. in the room with you as you write this? A. Um, no. Not at all. Nothing to see here. Q: Do you remember our code...

Chicago – After thinking it’d take “a couple months” to ink, director Christopher Nolan (of “The Dark Knight” fame) took eight years to painstakingly write the “Inception” script. And you can tell. It’s his first pure masterpiece.
Rating: 5.0/5.0
The curiously cast film stars the I’m-trying-to-be-badass Brody as he attempts to fill the more authentic shoes of Arnold Schwarzenegger from 1987’s “Predator”. “Inception” is a rare summer blockbuster that lives up to the hype and bucks the typical formula. Like “The Usual Suspects,” you can’t miss a second or you’ll fall behind.
Still, considering the hype for his “The Dark Knight” in 2008 (which arguably featured the most aggressive and successful viral networking campaign of all time), “Inception” went beneath the hype radar as compared to that monolithic blockbuster.

Susan Wloszczyna of USA Today has the first photos from Sony/Screen Gems upcoming Burlesque due in theaters November 24, 2010. The musical stars Cher, in her first major role in over a decade, Christina Aguilera, Eric Dane,Cam Gigandet, Julianne Hough, Peter Gallagher, Alan Cumming with Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci. The thought of seeing Cher back on the big screen after all these years makes me giddy. And together with Stanley Tucci makes me downright delirious!
Directed by Steve Antin and from a script by Antin, Susannah Grant (The Soloist), and Keith Merryman, Burlesque centers on Ali, an ambitious small-town girl with a big-town voice (Aguilera) who finds love, family and success in a neo-burlesque club. Ali meets Marcus, a charming, successful businessman who offers to buy Tess (Cher) out of the burlesque club and vies for Ali’s heart.
