Based on the 19th century’s young criminal gang, led by Rufus Buck, a Black Creek Indian who terrorized the entire Indian territory of Arkansas-Oklahoma, Paul G. Volk came up with his 2024 release, The Night They Came Home. This film is a fictional retelling of a frontier policeman, Heck Thomas, and an Indian detective, Paden Tolbert’s efforts to track down Rufus Buck’s notorious gang and bring them to justice. This film is a very lazy portrayal of a significant part of Native American history that fails to leave any impact on the audience. Still, here’s a detailed discussion of this film that sheds light on the rise and fall of this notorious bloodthirsty gang of the late 19th century.

The Night They Came Home is a western offering that is a pretty good recycling of several classic themes from the oaters of yesteryear. The great Danny Trejo plays the local gravedigger, but most of his screen time is spent telling a young couple from the East the story of the last outlaw gang to be eliminated, ushering in their current relatively civilized era in a wraparound narrative.
It’s the 1890s. The local Creek tribe members are bitter about being driven off their lands and receiving a lot of broken promises. They also resent their children being forced to attend white schools to learn the settlers’ language, culture and religion at the expense of their own. One of them, Rufus Buck (Charlie Townsend) is brilliant, psychotic and charismatic enough to lead a...

Russo, who continues to work in the entertainment industry to this day. Russo has written and directed multiple films, and has also written a whole lot of novels. One of those was the “Western horror story” The Night They Came Home, which has just received a film adaptation that Lionsgate will be giving a theatrical and VOD release on January 12th. A trailer for the film has been released online, and you can check it out in the embed above.

Sooooo… Cross 3. It’s safe to say No-one ever expected this, even though it was hinted at in the last film! In fact how the hell, did star Brian Austin Green and writer/co-director Patrick Durham even manage to secure the funding to produce this film? No-one ever really wanted the 2017 Cross sequel, Cross Wars, and I have no doubt the audience for a Third film is even smaller.
But here we are, it’s 2019 and the low-budget superhero series continues, obviously still trying to ride the superhero hype wave – whether comic-book movie loving audiences will...
