Familiar faces continue to pop up on The Young and the Restless as the show’s 50th celebration continues this week. On Wednesday, Patty Weaver reprises her role as Gina Roma to attend the Genoa City bi-centennial gala at the Genoa City Athletic Club. It’s only fitting that Gina make an appearance as she is not only a beloved character but also because she once managed the establishment after her restaurant Gina’s burned to the ground. TV Insider chatted with Weaver about her return, the moment she literally went over the top on the show, and her new career as an artist. “Isn’t it something?” Weaver rhetorically asks. “How many people’s lives have been affected by soaps. When I was back at the show, I was thinking about [series late creators] Bill and Lee Bell. They created this whole environment. People have had jobs and careers because of them.

Sally Spectra’s brutal firing from the fictional Newman Media may be nothing compared to the real-life pink slips just handed out in the writing department at CBS’s top-rated daytime drama “The Young and the Restless.”
Co-executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith has sacked all five writers that comprised the show’s breakdown writing staff, multiple individuals with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
According to one insider, Griffith said eliminating the breakdown writing staff — those writers responsible for mapping out story lines across multiple episodes — is a cost-cutting move, and that he will take on the task of writing breakdowns himself.
“The timing of the firings is suspect given that WGA negotiations were coming up and the show is celebrating a major milestone with its 50th anniversary,” the individual said. “Even more brutal is that four of the five writers of the breakdown staff are all women,...

For many gay and bisexual men of a certain age, the first inkling that they weren’t like other boys came on Saturday mornings from 1974 to 1976, in the form of a television show called The Land of the Lost. The show, about a father and his two children who were stranded in a mysterious land of dinosaurs, also featured vicious, but curiously slow-moving reptilian humanoids called Sleestak. Now the classic kids’ program by Sid and Marty Krofft, the producers of H.R. Pufnstuf and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, has even been made into a feature film starring Will Ferrell, opening this Friday.
But it wasn’t just the gloriously campy-even-at-the-time nature of the show itself that appealed to gay boys. It was also the fact that it featured the role of Will, the Marshall’s handsome teenage son, played by an actor billed only as “Wesley,” but whose full name is Wesley Eure.
