The trio – known together as Lvcrft (a reference to author H.P. Lovecraft) – have built their careers on making infectiously gooey, throwback Halloween pop music. Think “Monster Mash” but with a glistening modern pop edge. They slashed onto the scene with 2019’s This is Halloween Volume 1, which introduces the pivotal character of Skeleton Sam (as seen in press photos and around town) and includes such tracks as a cover of Kim Wilde’s debut single “Kids in America.” The work is deliciously dark, often seductively playful, and always guaranteed to get your cold, dead heart beating again. Paul McCartney rerecorded The Beatles’ “Let It Be” as a star-studded charity single in 1987. He collaborated with a famous producer on the cover. The producer said the former Beatle was never satisfied with his work on the song.
The Beatles‘ “Let It Be” is one of Paul McCartney’s most famous songs. He rerecorded it with the help of many major artists to help the victims of a ferry disaster. Subsequently, the cover inspired a parody by a famous band.
Kate Bush and Boy George helped Paul McCartney rerecord The Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’
According to Yahoo! News, the Herald of Free Enterprise was a ferry that was supposed to travel from Zeebrugge, Belgium, to Dover, England, on March 6, 1987. No one closed the ferry’s bow doors, which caused water to flood the ship. Within 90 seconds, the Herald of Free Enterprise capsized.
Sadly, 193 people died on the Herald of Free Enterprise.

If you didn’t know Erik Bloomquist’s She Came from the Woods loves the 80s like Pac-Man loves Mrs. Pac-Man, the first few minutes should sell a tubular on-screen time warp. Hormonal camp counselors in short shorts prepare for summer’s end while Kim Wilde’s “Kids In America” blares over opening credits like any other Camp Crystal Lake or Camp Arawak copycat. Bloomquist imbues a love of 80s sleepaway horror titles into a contemporary take on Friday the 13th, The Burning, Madman — some titles are even name-dropped in dialogue. It’s hardly a modern satire like Cabin in the Woods but avoids feeling redundant through recreations of golden-age genre magic that’s gone out of style. There’s a passionate attempt to prove life can find new ways in a decade’s old slasher formula, and She Came from the Woods keeps the beat(ings) alive for now.

In his Frightfest review, James Doherty wrote that She Came from the Woods is a "fun and entertaining campfire tale," and as someone who saw the movie as part of last year's Popcorn Frights Film Festival lineup, I can concur that the latest film from director Erik Bloomquist (Ten Minutes to Midnight) definitely scratches that summer camp slasher itch. Ahead of the film's February 10th theatrical release from Mainframe Pictures, the official trailer has now been released, giving viewers a look at the horrors unleashed at Camp Briarbrook, set fittingly to the tune of Kim Wilde's ’80s anthem "Kids in America."

A mysterious figure terrorises a camp full of teenagers in She Came From the Woods, a supernatural horror from director Erik Bloomquist, who also co-wrote the script with his brother, Carson Bloomquist. Creepy, suspenseful and suitably gory, it’s a genre-savvy throwback to the summer camp slasher genre.
Set in 1987 (so no pesky mobile phones), the film takes place during the last night of the summer holiday at Camp Briarbrook, run by kindly Gilbert McAlister (William Sadler) his adult daughter Heather (Cara Buono) and her two teenage sons, irresponsible Peter (Spencer List) and sensible Shawn (Tyler Elliot Burke).
When Peter persuades the other teen volunteers to perform a ghost story ritual (a ridiculously simple one – prick your finger and shout “Agatha!”), he...

Billie Joe Armstrong has released a cover of Wreckless Eric’s “Whole Wide World” to Amazon Music. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has dropped a new version of John Lennon’s always relevant 1971 protest song, “Gimme Some Truth.”
The track arrived on Armstrong’s Instagram page Wednesday night, with the frontman writing, “This song was written by John Lennon. The first time I heard it was from one of my all-time faves Generation X!” He added that his version fell somewhere between Generation X, Billy Idol and Lennon’s original — all of which comes through in the break-neck pop-punk cover as Armstrong sneers: “I’ve had...

Over the past few weeks, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has been spending his time in self-isolation covering some of his favorite songs for a series he’s dubbed “No Fun Mondays.” His latest installment is a reverent rendition of Raspberries frontman Eric Carmen’s solo single “That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

Talking about movie stars so often might make one think that others in various fields of entertainment come and go without much fanfare, but obviously that’s not the case. Kim Wilde is a name that a lot of people might not know right off the bat, but if actors are hard to keep track of, and they are really, then musicians are doubly so if not more since there are literally thousands of musicians out there for every few that manage to gain the attention of a massive audience. Kim forged her own way forward back in the day with

I first encountered Kim Justice when the channel Kim presided over was in it's infancy. Concentrating on Sega games of yesteryear, Kim brought list based content, featuring Top Ten Megadrive games, Beat -em Ups, Shooters presented in an interesting, real and humorous fashion. I found myself not only subscribing but re-watching, hidden gems were revealed and overly familiar titles were given a new perspective. It was becoming clear that this channel and it's presenter was something special. Before long, this youtuber became one of the most popular of the UK broadcasters regarding gaming and it's history.
Kim's channel soon became popular and thanks to Patreon, the channel is completely self-sufficient, the videos became of higher quality and longer, the subjects became more ambitious, focusing not just on Reviews but on illuminating aspects of gaming history in extensive documentaries.

Festival employees appeal for “support and participation”.
Update: Kim Dong-ho, Kang Soo-youn have now resigned. Full story Here.
Original story: Busan International Film Festival (Biff)’s executive staff have issued a public statement criticising festival director Kang Soo-youn and chairman Kim Dong-ho while calling for former fest director Lee Yong-kwan to be reinstated.
In an open letter released today, employees including secretary general Kim Gwang-ho and publicity manager Jungyun Kim stated they made this move after communications broke down with Kim and Kang to stabilise Asia’s leading cinema event in the aftermath of ex-president Park Geun-hye’s political manipulations of the culture sector. Some of those machinations contributed, at least in part, to landing Park and aides in jail.

Kim Zolciak Biermann loves pushing the boundaries in flirty — and often skin-baring — outfits (that is, when she isn’t padding around the house in her beloved bath robe). So when the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star attended a Kentucky Derby party at the Empire City Casino in Yonkers, New York on Saturday, she put her own little sheer spin on the traditionally festive dress code.
Biermann, who celebrated the annual race with her hubby, NFL star Kroy Biermann, chose a semi-see-through white babydoll sundress featuring multicolor pink, aqua and lavender feathery sleeves. She accessorized with ankle-strap sandals and a...

I was recently comparing directorial culture today with that of the 80s and 90s, referencing how new technology has allowed a disintegration of the old school “pay your dues” mentality. Forty years ago you had artists working their way up under the tutelage of established directors through the more niche technical departments. See James Cameron (matte painter on Escape from New York) and Joe Johnston (visual effects on Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark) as examples. I’m not saying this type of mailroom intern to studio executive evolution isn’t still possible or relevant, just that young filmmakers can currently make a calling card film like the $750,000 budgeted Safety Not Guaranteed and find themselves helming a $150 million blockbuster like Jurassic World in only three years.
Is that talent? Luck? A bit of both, surely. But I still admire the idea of learning before jumping, earning the big...

Superman Lives, The Green Hornet and sadly now Clerks III: here’s a rundown of the Kevin Smith films we’ll probably never see...
Kevin Smith has always had to fight to get his films off the ground: he started his filmmaking career by maxing out multiple credit cards to self-finance Clerks, and more recently, legend has it, it was only Johnny Depp’s decision to come on board as a wacky supporting character that allowed Smith to secure financing for his walrus-centric horror flick Tusk.
Smith has, across his career, been offered several barmy jobs (he rejected a chance to pen Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian back in the 90s) and he’s also signed up for a lot of projects that never got past the script phase.
The latter camp of could’ve-beens is what we’re talking about today, following that news that Clerks III...

Better Call Saul returns for season 2 brimming with imagination and confidence. Here's our spoiler-free season 2 opener review...
Neither spin-offs nor prequels have the greatest reputation, and considering the track record of both in recent years it’s not hard to see why. Prequels often seem pointless, bringing nothing new to the table other than solving mysteries nobody wanted to see solved, while spin-offs have the almost impossible task of giving people more of what they liked about an original property while forging a new path that works in different ways. But with the track record of Vince Gilligan’s masterful work on Breaking Bad, there was never much trepidation for Better Call Saul and what early doubts there were about the show were swiftly assuaged by a follow-up that managed to be recognisably linked to its predecessor in ways both visual and thematic, all the while telling...
