Tim Commerford, the bassist of the rock band Rage Against the Machine, has said that has no idea if the band has split. Earlier this year, the drummer of the band Brad Wilk claimed that the ‘Killing in the Name’ hitmakers, also comprising Zack de la Rocha and Tom Morello, “will not be touring or playing live again,” as a band, reports ‘Female First UK’.
He announced on Instagram: “I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled Ratm shows. So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that Ratm will not be touring or playing live again.”
“I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was. Bottom of my heart… Thank you to every person who has ever supported us.

Don’t ask Tim Commerford about the status of Rage Against the Machine: “I don’t know. I don’t get involved in that. I’m the bass player,” he told Rolling Stone in a new interview.
Earlier this year, drummer Brad Wilk announced that Rage Against the Machine would “not be touring or playing live again,” effectively signaling the end of the band. “I am sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen,” Wilk wrote in an Instagram post on January 3rd. “I really wish it was…”
Until now, Ratm’s other three members had not addressed Wilk’s proclamation; in the case of Commerford, it was because he had nothing to add.
Asked by Rolling Stone if Ratm is indeed over, Commerford responded, “I don’t know. I don’t get involved in that. I’m the bass player. I just wait for...

The last time Tim Commerford stood in front of a large audience, Rage Against the Machine were wrapping up their truncated 2022 reunion tour with a five-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden. In the 18 months since that show, the Rage bassist has gone off the grid, and we mean that in a very literal sense. He now lives in a dirt road, mountaintop California house (he doesn’t want us to specify the location) that is removed from the electric grid. He powers everything via solar panels, and...

After already breaking up one time before, the iconic band Rage Against the Machine has called it quits for the second time.
The band’s drummer, Brad Wilk, confirmed via Instagram that the group will not be getting back together to perform live any time soon.
In a post from January 3, Wilk posted, “While there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know the Ratm will not be touring or playing live again.”
He then goes on to thank fans who have supported the band from the “bottom of my heart.”
Originally, the band’s tour was set to take place in 2020, but Covid-19 caused the group to postpone their concert dates.
In July 2022, the band took the stage for the first time in more than ten years. They played several shows until lead singer Zack de la Rocha tore...

Fans of Rage Against the Machine have been patiently waiting for the band to reschedule dates for their Public Service Announcement Tour. Unfortunately, not only will the band not resume going the tour, but the members have decided to call it quits entirely. This is not the first time that Rage Against the Machine has broken up. The members split in 2000 and in 2011. They had recently reunited in 2022 and announced that they would be going on an extensive tour in North America and Europe. Ratm would only play 19 shows due to an injury suffered by frontman Zack de la Rocha. He had erupted his Achilles tendon while on the second stop of the tour at Chicago’s United Center. de la Rocha would tough it out for the first leg of the tour by sitting on a road case every night. However, they decided to call the rest of the...

Rage Against the Machine 3.0 officially came to an end early Wednesday evening, when drummer Brad Wilk informed fans via Instagram that the group wasn’t going to resume its Public Service Announcement reunion tour. “Ratm (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again,” he posted on Instagram. “I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”
On one hand, the news was hardly surprising. Rage are an incredibly volatile band with a long history of dysfunction.

It’s goodbye once again for Rage Against The Machine. In a note to fans, drummer Brad Wilk said that the “Public Service Announcement” reunion tour won’t resume, and the group is not carrying on in any form.
This marks the third farewell for the group. They also split in 2000 and 2011.
“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new dates for all the cancelled Ratm shows,” Wilk wrote on Instagram. “I don’t want to string people or myself along any further. Brad Pitt and Peter Berg’s Film 45 will document the late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman.
"Cry, if you want to cry," Chris Cornell sang on the song "My Wave." Brad Pitt and Peter Berg’s production company Film 45 will help you see and clear your eyes in a documentary about the late frontman and songwriter for Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, according to Variety. Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, will participate as a producer. Paramount recently yanked Pitt's World War Z 2, which he hoped to make with Fight Club director David Fincher, from its production schedule. Berg will direct the as-yet-untitled movie. No other details of the Chris Cornell documentary have been announced.
Cornell died on May 18, 2017, a few hours after a Soundgarden show at Detroit's Fox Theater. His death was ruled a suicide. An autopsy revealed painkillers and anti-anxiety medication in Cornell's bloodstream.

Cypress Hill, the Latino hip-hop duo comprised of B-Real and Sen Dog, has signed with BMG and is set to release its first album in eight years on Sept. 28. “Elephants On Acid” will be the band’s ninth studio effort.
The group first made its name as early advocates of marijuana and saw multiple hits in the 1990s and through the early 2000s including “Insane In The Brain,” “I Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That” and “(Rock) Superstar.” Cypress Hill’s 1991 debut album sold more than two million copies in the United States alone. The band’s follow up, 1993’s “Black Sunday,” debuted at No. 1 on the Us Billboard 200 and was certified triple-platinum.
B-Real has spent the last few years moonlighting as a member of Prophets of Rage alongside Public Enemy’s Chuck D and DJ Lord and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and Brad Wilk.

The 2017 Billboard Music Awards paid tribute to rocker Chris Cornell with a touching moment of silence on Sunday.
Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds led the homage, with an emotional speech about the late rocker’s life and legacy.
“Although tonight is a time to celebrate the music and artists of the past year, it’s also a time to recall a member of our community we lost this past week,” he said. “Soundgarden and Audioslave’s Chris Cornell was a true innovator. A musical architect and pioneer on the cutting edge of the Seattle grunge movement. He was a prolific songwriter,...

The brute power of Chris Cornell‘s four-octave voice belayed an inner strength that battled drugs and depression since his earliest days. The voice that brought the music of Soundgarden and Audioslave to millions was silenced on May 17th, when Cornell was found dead in a Detroit hotel room following a concert.
He was born and raised in Seattle, the city that would become the epicenter of early ‘90s rock thanks in large part to his music. By his own estimation, his neighborhood was far from idyllic, low rent and ravaged by addiction. “We were all selling drugs by the...

Chris Cornell, who first gained fame as the lead singer of Soundgarden and later the band Audioslave, passed away Wednesday night in Detroit, a rep for the singer told the Associated Press.
He was 52.
Cornell’s rep, Brian Bumbery, called the singer’s passing “sudden and unexpected.” The rocker was currently on tour and the rep said his family was shocked by his passing.
Soundgarden was at the forefront of the 90s grunge music scene that rose out of Seattle. Their hits included “Spoonman,” ”Fell on Black Days,” ”Black Hole Sun,” “My Wave” and “The Day I Tried to Live.

After selling out L.A.’s Whisky A Go-Go and Hollywood Palladium this past week, the supergroup Prophets of Rage announced a 35-city summer tour that will kick off in Cleveland on July 19 — the same weekend Donald Trump is set to officially accept his presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention. The band — consisting of Rage Against The Machine members Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk, along with Public Enemy’s Chuck D, Cypress Hill’s B-Real and DJ Real — has made it clear that Trump will be the primary target of its politically-charged performances. At their shows last week,...

My alienation from current pop is almost complete; the only 2013 Top 40 material I enjoyed enough to play repeatedly was Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, from an album released in 2012. So I am officially a cranky old fart. But there are more and more of us, and maybe fellow COFs will find this list useful. By the way, crossing that border of alienation made me think more than ever that saying my lists are of the "best" albums is nearly absurd, hence the new headline.
1. Wire: Change Becomes Us (Pink Flag)
This is my favorite Wire of this century thanks to more emphasis on Colin Newman's brooding. When allied to their chugging motorik beats, it's irresistible to me. There are still some uptempo burners that recall their beginnings in punk, and some more whimsical though still musically solid songs, but it's Newman's dark musings that made me play this repeatedly.

Nashville, Tenn. — Ozzy Osbourne and the members of Black Sabbath worked hard to create a dark aura around their band in the late 1960s, laying down a proto-metal blueprint for a legion of groups to follow.
As the band's original lineup attempted to reform over the last 10 years to record a long-anticipated new album – the first with Osbourne singing since he was fired in 1979 – there was no need to manufacture that sense of doom. Time and again events conspired to interfere. On its latest attempt, things went more awry than usual. Drummer Bill Ward left the band over a contract dispute. Guitarist Tony Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma. And Osbourne began to drink again.
"Things always get messed up," Osbourne said. "Like Bill had the heart attack on one (in the late 1990s). When Tony got stricken by cancer, we went `This is ... insane. But he turned up every day.

It finally happened. A new Black Sabbath album with Ozzy on vocals. It would have been a full fledged original line-up reunion too if it hadn't been for drummer Bill Ward dropping out after a weak-ass contractual dispute. But that's Ok, because Rick Rubin produced '13' and there's no-one better to produce a Sabbath album than an actual wizard. Brad Wilk from Rage Against The Machine stepped in for the drums on Black Sabbath's 19th studio effort and he does a fine job. This is also the first Sabbath album with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals since 1978's 'Never Say Die', so that's the money right there. The old crew has reunited for several live performances over the years but this is an actual record. A brand new Black Sabbath album. How cool is that? I still don't think it's real and I've...

Black Sabbath has just finished up recording 13, the first record from the band’s original lineup in 35 years. As such, the first single is now available, and it’s a philosophical doozy. “God Is Dead?” clocks in at almost 10 minutes long and features a plodding intro, pretty classic doom metal riffs, and Ozzy Osbourne’s not-terrible-sounding vocals pondering whether God is alive, dead, damned, or what. 13 was recorded in Los Angeles by producer Rick Rubin, features Rage Against The Machine’s Brad Wilk on drums, and will be out June 11 on Vertigo/Republic.

With 18 albums released, Black Sabbath continue to persist within the music industry they helped transform for the better since the 70s. The heavy rock legends are back with their new album, “13”, which will drop sometime in June. The upcoming album will be Black Sabbath’s first album with the King Of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, in 35 years. In support of “13”, Black Sabbath has released a video of them inside the studio. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is a drummer, guitarist, singer, and now, a filmmaker – is there anything the guy can’t do? Apparently not, if his documentary about one of the music landscape’s most iconic fountains of creativity, one of the best-received films out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, is any indication.
A love letter to Grohl’s old stomping ground, the titular California-based recording studio which gave birth to Nirvana’s seminal album Nevermind, Sound City is an intimate examination of both the ridiculous number of artists it allowed to flourish – Metallica, Neil Young, Trent Reznor, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Fleetwood Mac, Barry Manilow and countless others – and also the less-famous but equally important faces behind the studio glass; the studio managers, technicians and producers who were instrumental in getting so many popular works made. Leaving no stone unturned, Grohl manages to...

Thank God for Dave Grohl. Everyone’s favorite Foo Fighter and the most cheerful member of Nirvana, his irrepressible energy and sheer delight in rocking the F out shines during his loving remembrance of the legendary Los Angeles recording studio Sound City in his debut documentary feature of the same name. Ostensibly a memorial to the studio that spawned such albums as Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers catalog, and Nirvana’s Nevermind, among many, many other classic rock albums, the film also celebrates the craft and collaboration borne of this kind of specific recording process. And he trots out a Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame's worth of collaborators: Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty, Lee Ving of Fear, Trent Reznor, Josh Homme, Pat Smear, Butch Vig, and Paul McCartney, not to mention interviews with Neil Young, Rick Rubin, Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, Lars Ulrich,...

No matter how much The Osbournes made you think Ozzy is limited to muttering variations of fuck, the guy can still belt, even at 64. Thus a Rick Rubin-produced record featuring the original Black Sabbath lineup (with Rage Against the Machine's Brad Wilk subbing for salty drummer Bill Ward) is something worth noting. Slated for a June release, 13 is the band's first studio album with Ozzy since 1978's Never Say Die!

For the first time in 35 years, Black Sabbath led by Ozzy Osbourne is releasing an album of new originals. Ozzy, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler combined with Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk and superstar producer Rick Rubin for "13," due in June. It was announced in late 2011 that Sabbath was reuniting for some festival dates, along with the promise that a new set was happening. But then original drummer Bill Ward quit over a contract dispute, claiming he was being short-changed, and Tony Iommi continued hard into his struggle against lymphoma.
