Fables, created by Bill Willingham, chronicles the world’s most beloved fairy tale characters hiding out in a magically hidden neighborhood within Manhattan. Run out of their happily-ever-after homeworlds by a mighty conqueror known only as The Adversary, these universally recognized princes, princesses, talking animals, heroes, and villains now face a new challenge: adapting to a modern world filled with sex, violence, and lots of moral ambiguity. The series launched in 2002 through DC Comics' adult-oriented Vertigo imprint and has since won 11 Eisner Awards and garnered steadfast critical acclaim. Since it's inception the property has spawned several spinoff series, novels, high end collectibles and a newly released video game The Wolf Among Us created by Telltale Games A live-action...

Following the path prior established by their hit Walking Dead title, Telltale’s latest episodic adventure game, The Wolf Among Us, which has already had its first episode released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, will soon be making the leap to handhelds – namely the Ps Vita and iOS devices.
The five-part series, based on Bill Willingham’s hit comic book series Fables, tells the modern-day story of several iconic fairy tail and folklore characters struggling to survive in the seedier parts of New York City. Players take control of Bigby Wolf, whose true identity is the Big Bad Wolf who previously terrorized Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs, and now serves as sheriff among the Fables.
The first episode, Faith, launched earlier in the month on home consoles and computers to critical acclaim. Our own review called the game “both engrossing and atmospheric,” and a promising start to...

Pessimism and disappointment ran its course on The Wolf Among Us throughout development. Not only is Telltale Games coming off of a plethora of award accolades for The Walking Dead, there’s also just so much feverish anticipation for Season 2 that not many became enthusiastic with the plans of a new episodic series hitting first. Furthermore, a sizeable amount of the gaming industry became worried that the success of The Walking Dead was a fluke and that Telltale should strictly focus on it instead of venturing into other comic book adaptations.
As always, the simplest and most honest way to gauge the credibility of these accusations is to just wait patiently for the release, play the game, and pass judgment. I am pleasantly pleased to announce that The Walking Dead wasn’t a fluke. If anything, for months and months upon end you are going to...

Developer Telltale Games has been developing classically-styled point-and-click adventure games for close to a decade, but their prominence in the general gaming world exploded last year with the release of The Walking Dead. While the company has promised to continue with their story of the zombie apocalypse, they’re still taking the time to branch out and continue to try new things.
Enter The Wolf Among Us. Taking place in the universe created by Bill Willingham’s popular comic book series Fables, Telltale’s latest effort clearly takes some influence from their recent hit. That being said, it does not feel like a retread, thanks to a radically different world and concept. The result (at least with the first episode), is another winner, as it offers a great start to a series that gamers will definitely want to keep their eyes on.

Right now Warner Bros. is waiting to see how their new take on Superman with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel plays out in just over a week, but another DC Comic that was once being developed at the studio is gaining new life. Heat Vision has word that Heyday Films, the banner from Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman is developing an adaptation of the comic book series Fables with A Royal Affair director Nikolaj Arcel set to direct. Here's the official synopsis of the comic book series: When a savage creature known only as the Adversary conquered the fabled lands of legends and fairy tales, all of the infamous inhabitants of folklore were forced into exile.

Warner Bros has announced that it has hired Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) to direct its upcoming "Fables" fantasy film, which is written by Jeremy Slater ("Fantastic Four" reboot) and is based on a DC comic book series. "Fables," created in 2002 by Bill Willingham, centers on fairy-tale characters ranging from Snow White and Cinderella to the Big Bad Wolf, who are kicked out of their world and now live in New York City. The series won 14 Eisner awards for its storytelling and art. In 2004, the studio tried to develop a movie with the Jim Henson Company but didn't get to the writing stage. In 2008, the comic was to be turned into a TV series on ABC and be directed by David Semel ("American Horror Story"). That too didn.t happen, but ABC went on to air "Once Upon a Time," also about fairy-tale characters in the real world.

Launched in 2002 from DC Comics mature reader imprint, Vertigo, Fables imagines a world where every character from child hood fairy tales are real and living among us, having relocated to the New York borough of Fabletown after being exiled from their home by the mysterious Adversary. Wonderfully written by Bill Willingham, it gave us new and interesting takes on well known characters such as portraying Prince Charming as a cheat and womaniser, and Cinderella moonlighting as a spy (whose nemesis is killer for hire Dorothy Gale. Yes, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz). The series, which is still ongoing and has given rise to a number of spin-offs, has such a wealth of character, story, and ideas that it is no surprise that Warner Bros., who own DC Comics, would want to get it up on the big screen. DC and Vertigo’s Fables, the brilliant fairy tale set in New York city, is getting another shot at an adaptation. It had once before been optioned into a film, and then a TV show, and now it appears that David Heyman of Harry Potter fame and his Heyday Films label is producing a second shot at a Fables movie.

Bill Willingham's Fables centers on a group of characters from storybooks (like Snow White and Cinderella) that get kicked out of their world and form a clandestine community in New York City. Over the past few years, two of the biggest trends in blockbuster filmmaking have been making movies based on comic books and making movies based on fairy tales. Because of this, it’s seemed a might bit strange that “Fables,” a title published by DC’s more experimental and arty line of books, Vertigo, has had such a hard time getting adapted for the screen. Not only does creator Bill Willingham’s comic series utilize characters like Snow White, Prince Charming, and the Big Bad Wolf, but it brings them into our world, gives them sexy updates, and it’s won a whole heap of awards for its storytelling, to boot. Sounds like the perfect property to turn into a movie, don’t you think? Well, Harry Potter producers, Heyday Films, seem to think so too, because Heat Vision is reporting that they’ve acquired the film rights to Willingham’s work, and...

DC Comics and Vertigo’s comic book series Fables is finally coming to the big screen! I was wondering when they would get around to adapting this thing. That sound you hear is the sound of one of comics' most loyal fandoms crying out, as if suddenly given the exact thing they want. Or close to it, at least.
The Hollywood Reporter just broke the news that "Fables," one of DC Comics' longest running comic books, has been singled out for a big screen adaptation with a director, producer and writer all attached. Nikolaj Arcel ("A Royal Affair") will direct, up-and-comer Jeremy Slater will add penning the screenplay to his resume right after 2015's "Fantastic Four" reboot, and David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford (the "Harry Potter" films) will produce.
"Fables" follows the adventures of fairy tale and folklore characters like Snow White, the Big Bad Wolf, Prince Charming, Cinderella, Little Boy Blue and dozens more as they attempt to survive in modern times after being expelled from their homeland by a mysterious evil known as the Adversary.

Nikolaj Arcel, who broke out with last year's lovely and compelling drama "A Royal Affair," has been tapped to helm "Fables." But what does a period drama guy know about comic tentpoles? "The Walking Dead" developer heads back to comics, this time adapting Bill Willingham's long-running "Fables" with a prequel detective tale featuring that book's surly wolf, Bigby.
Set before the events of the first issue of "Fables," "The Wolf Among Us" centers on the fairy tale community living in secret in the middle of Manhattan and Bigby Wolf, the sheriff who keeps order.
