- Woods was originally cast as the lead in The Public Enemy (1931), with James Cagney playing the second lead, but after viewing dailies, director William A. Wellman had the actors switch roles, and Cagney became a star.
- Eventually went into producing, directing and stage management, working with the Schubert Organization and 20th Century Fox. During WWII, he worked with Ronald Reagan making training films for the U.S Army. He retired in 1975, and moved to Salt Lake City.
- Graduated from the University of Southern California.
- Interred at Salt Lake City Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Specific Interment Location: West Section-7-132-1-East.
