The eight-part series hails from superproducers David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams, with Kelley serving as writer and showrunner. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Rusty Sabich, a Chicago deputy prosecutor whose life gets thrown into chaos when he’s suspected of murdering Carolyn (Renate Reinsve), a colleague with whom he had an affair. Apple TV+ has revealed the first teaser-trailer for “Presumed Innocent” starring Jake Gyllenhaal, from Emmy-winning creator David E. Kelley.
Gyllenhaal narrates the trailer as Rusty Sabich, a man seemingly consumed by his love for a woman named Carolyn (Renate Reinsve). “She woke something up inside me,” he says as the footage cuts between his time with her and images of cars and courtrooms and arguments — clearly invoking a darker twist in this alleged romance. Carolyn, it turns out, has been murdered and, given their history, Rusty is the prime suspect.
What the trailer leaves out is extra juicy: Rusty and Carolyn were coworkers and prosecutors, and the suspected crime sends waves through the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office as they mourn a colleague, reel from an affair, and pursue a murder investigation — to say nothing of how it affects Rusty’s marriage and home life.
The rest of the cast includes Ruth Negga,...

This Dune article contains spoilers.
If the shocking ending of Dune: Part Two left you wanting more, you can actually watch Dune: Part Three right now. Kind of. Although Denis Villeneuve hasn’t fully committed to a movie adaptation of Dune Messiah, there is an often overlooked filmed version of this Dune sequel out there right now. This isn’t a bootleg or a fan film either, but The Sci-Fi Channel’s excellent Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune miniseries. This very real adaptation of Dune Messiah even stars several major Hollywood stars, including James McAvoy and Susan Sarandon, as well as Star Trek legend Alice “The Borg Queen” Krige.
If you’ve slept on this particular Dune sequel, now is possibly the best time to watch it. Here’s what to know about Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune, why it’s great, and how to watch it.

The opening narration to "The Twilight Zone" episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" states that Bob Wilson (William Shatner) has just been discharged from a sanitarium, finally having (mostly) recuperated from a nervous breakdown experienced on an airplane six months earlier. He is about to get on a plane again for the first since his breakdown, and his wife Julia (Christine White) is wary that flying may trigger another severe panic attack. Bob assures her that he may be nervous, but that he should be able to survive.
Of course, nothing natural or easy happens in the Twilight Zone. Bob peers out the window and sees, on the wing of the plane, a large furry gremlin (Nick Cravat). It sees Bob as well. When he calls a stewardess for help, the gremlin vanishes, able to lift off into the rainy night sky. When Bob is looking, however, it reappears and begins...

It’s one thing for a television director to get to fashion one iconic image from a television series. It’s probably even rarer for a director to get to fashion two. “That moment specifically, was a shot that I had in my head for a long time [and] it was the single shot that I worked on the most,” reveals producer and director Greg Yaitanes, about the climactic dragon battle sequence in the Season 1 finale of “House of the Dragon.” For our recent webchat he adds, “I was really excited about the idea and I always remember this when I’m on a plane and we’re in turbulence or a storm, and we go above the clouds, I love the idea that the final moment would be so beautiful and such a relief and while you were catching your breath, in that moment comes this moment of horror. The goal was to really try to be half a beat ahead of the audience, anticipating what the next moment was going to be.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

House of the Dragon tricked viewers with an actor switch-up that nobody seemed to notice.
The finale of the Game of Thrones prequel series aired on HBO and Sky Atlantic last month.
Upon the episode’s broadcast, viewers did not seem to notice that one of the characters was played by a different actor entirely.
The detail was revealed by director Greg Yaitanes who, during a podcast interview, said the producers had to improvise when actor Elliot Tittensor got Covid-19 while they were filming the episode.
Elliot appeared in the show alongside his twin brother Luke, as members of the kingsguard Sers Arryk and Erryk, respectively.
Fortunately, when Elliot was unable to perform his lines, Luke stepped in to play Erryk instead.
“There’s that scene, that big scene where Corlys comes down and they’re putting the markers on the table and the messenger comes in,” Yaitanes said on...

George R.R. Martin is famous for creating characters with annoyingly similar names, leading to some confusion from both the readers/viewers and the characters themselves. It was bad enough that Alicent (Olivia Cooke) started a war because she assumed her husband was referring to the wrong Aegon, but the first season's final episodes also put a spotlight on the Cargyll twins: two identical knights of the Kingsguard named Arryk (Luke Tittensor) and Erryk (Elliott Tittensor).
For the show's producers, however, the similarities in the actors/characters proved to be a bit of a blessing. While filming the finale, Elliot Tittensor tested positive for Covid-19 and wasn't able to be on set. Luckily, the show had Luke Tittensor around, who could fill in for him while he recovered.

“House of the Dragon” lived up to its name with the season-ending fight at Storm’s End, in which the legendary Vhagar (ridden by Ewan Mitchell’s Aemond) devoured newbie Arrax and his young rider, Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) like a snack. This dance of dragons in the storm is noteworthy not just because it kicks off a civil war — it’s also an impressive use of the V Stage, the new virtual production volume at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. Co-showrunner and director Miguel Sapochnik was impressed with what Ilm has been able to achieve with its innovative LED-wall system, StageCraft, and lobbied to bring similar technology to Westeros. V Stage offers a 7,100 square foot wraparound virtual production environment with more than 2,600 LED panels along with an additional set of ceiling units with eight sections that work independently by lifting and tilting.

House of the Dragon director Greg Yaitanes confirmed that How to Train Your Dragon was one of the inspirations behind the final battle sequence in season one.
Fans had previously spotted parallels between the scene in which Aemond chases Lucerys on his much smaller dragon and a scene in the 2010 animated film about a Norse teenager named Hiccup.
“In preparation, I watched the first How to Train Your Dragon because [Oscar-winning cinematographer] Roger Deakins was the visual consultant on that. So that, cinematically, was going to be really appealing,” Yaitanes told Entertainment Weekly.
“And I went back to the original Jurassic Park because there was a sense of scale to the dinosaurs that I don’t think any of the subsequent films ever recaptured.”
He added: “[Director Steven Spielberg] knew he wanted to frame for height, and I took a lot of cues off what made the dinosaurs look so big and so interesting.

This article contains spoilers for the "House of the Dragon" season 1 finale.
There were certain promises "House of the Dragon" made before it premiered. It aimed to keep the parts of "Game of Thrones" you loved, but without the baggage from the divisive finale. The show promised political intrigue and epic fantasy battles without the disappointing deus ex machinas, and the last minute character assassinations. It promised family rivalry and incest without -- well, they kept those, actually.
The point is, the show had simultaneously both a very high bar and a very low bar to clear. "Game of Thrones" is one of the biggest shows of the past decade, but it also ended in a rather disappointing way. By some miracle, however, "House of the Dragon" delivered. Sure, it still suffered from some interminably dark scenes, and from time skips that killed momentum, but still, it delivered on its...

This post contains spoilers for the first season of House of the Dragon, which is now streaming in its entirety on HBO Max.
“The Black Queen” was the season finale of House of the Dragon Season One, and its climax appropriately summed up nearly everything about the show, good and bad.
As the cocky, sadistic Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) chased his anxious nephew Prince Luke (Elliot Grihault) through a stormy sky, pitting his massive dragon against Luke’s comparatively tiny one, it was impossible to not be impressed by the visual splendor,...

The Dance of Dragons has officially begun.
Sunday’s “House of the Dragon” finale pitted Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) against half-brother Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), who has been declared king of Westeros despite the late Viserys’ wishes (Paddy Considine). As Rhaenyra prepares to win back the seven kingdoms, she sends son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) to Storm’s End to appeal to Lord Borros Baratheon (Roger Evans), where he finds a nasty surprise in the form of uncle Aegon’s brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). The sons of rival houses take to the sky, the dragons dance, and only one survives.
Just as Episode 9 focused on King’s Landing and Alicent’s (Olivia Cooke) family, Episode 10, “The Black Queen,” written by Ryan Condal and directed by Greg Yaitanes, unfolds primarily in Dragonstone, where Rhaenyra and Daemon (Matt Smith) establish their plan to move against the Greens with the help of key players on their own side.

“Dreams didn’t make us kings,” Daemon Targaryen tells his wife, Rhaenyra. “Dragons did.” He tells her this with his hand around her throat, choking the air out of her. The Queen — or princess, depending on your point of view — had just informed him of the prophecy known as the “Song of Ice and Fire.” It’s Aegon the Conqueror’s prescient dream, confided in her by her father King Viserys, about a future Targaryen monarch who will save the realm from darkness in the North. It’s one of...

Ryan Condal, the showrunner of the streaming show, “House of the Dragon”, has shared that Aegon II is an unlikely and unwilling king. The narrative course of the show sees Aegon II’s (played by Tom Glynn-Carney), ascension to King of Westeros. Speaking about Aegon II’s bid for King, Ryan said: “I think that’s the big mystery of this episode, which is– who is Aegon, really? Who is this man we’re about to make king?”
Going further, Condal elaborated on the character’s relationship to the throne and King Viserys.
He said: “Aegon is an unlikely and unwilling king. He doesn’t think his father ever really loved him enough or respected him enough to think that he was worthy of the job and much like Daemon, Aegon just wanted to know that Viserys loved him and thought him worthy. He’ll never really get that because...

Actress Emma D’Arcy is set to debut as the adult princess Rhanyera in the sixth episode of ‘House of the Dragon’. She recently spoke about how she did her own stunts and enjoyed the process in the series.
Elaborating on the same, she said, “I did a bit of stunt work, and at first, I was sort of cocky about it because I like a challenge.”
The preparations for the show unfolded right in the thick of the pandemic when everything was shut down including the gyms. Hence, these stunts came across as a shock to her system, “And then we went in to work with the team – and this was right in the middle of the pandemic, and needless to say, the gym hadn’t been open – it was a shock to the system.”

As the upcoming series “House of the Dragon” approaches its release date, its showrunners Ryan J Condal and Miguel Sapochnik reveal that it is a “complex Shakespearean family drama.”
The series is a gripping saga that takes the audience deep into the extraordinary world of Westeros and explores the Targaryen family – the all-powerful dragon riders who are the seemingly invincible rulers of the seven kingdoms.
Even though the series is a prequel to “Game of Thrones”, “House of the Dragon” has an entirely new story with new characters played by an impressive cast.
Chalking out the line of difference between the two shows, Ryan said in a statement that “Game of Thrones” was about multiple families going to war over justice and decency.
There was murder and betrayal, and all of those things exist here, but this is really about the dissolution of one family. That family happens to be...

The title of FX’s The Old Man doesn’t really tell you what kind of show it is. It could be a wacky multicamera sitcom about an ill-behaving senior citizen who gets kicked out of his retirement home and has to move in with his hipster grandson. It could be a whimsical dramedy about a retiree figuring out how to fill his days. Or it could be what it actually is: a thriller starring Jeff Bridges as a renegade former CIA operative who has to kill a lot of...

HBO dropped the first “House of The Dragon” teaser trailer and character posters on Thursday.
The teaser trailer, which you can watch above, shows life in the “Game of Thrones” world when the Targaryens ruled, about 200 years before the events of the HBO series that ran for eight seasons.
The footage shows heads of the Stark, Baratheon and House Velaryon families pledging fealty to Targaryen King Viserys and his heir, Princess Rhaenyra. And the princess gets a warning about the battle of the sexes as Rhaenys tells her “Men would sooner put the realm to torch than see a woman ascend the Iron Throne.”
It also hints at plenty of conflict and even bloodshed, with one of the characters remarking as the trailer closes, “History does not remember blood, it remembers names.”

HBO’s “House of the Dragon” cost under 20 million per episode to produce its 10-episode first season, which debuts Aug. 21, a source close to production told Variety.
For comparison, “Game of Thrones” cost HBO around 100 million per season. Its per-episode price tag began at roughly 6 million in Season 1 and rose to 15 million for the show’s eighth and final season.
If you’re wondering how HBO managed to keep the cost of “House of the Dragon” Season 1 from rising too much above what it paid for the final season of “Game of Thrones,” especially with even more CGI dragons expected to be flying around, the production insider says HBO is now so adept at these world-building series through years of not just “GoT,” but also producing “Westworld” and “His Dark Materials,” that the team can make a high-quality series as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Exclusive: To most movie stars, having two movies dropping within seven days of each other would seem like they are plenty busy, but for Chris Pine, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Besides having The Contractor and All the Old Knives going day-and-date on April 1 and April 8, respectively, Pine also is deep in prep on his directorial debut Poolman, which he is also starring in, while also building out a robust development slate for his production banner Barry Linen Pictures, which he co-founded with his partner Ian Gotler. On top of all that, he has the thriller Don’t Worry Darling bowing in fall, followed by another potential franchise in Dungeons & Dragons coming out next year. Oh, and there is that potential return to the USS Enterprise as he is in talks to reprise his star-making role of Captain Kirk for a fourth time in the next installment of the Star Trek franchise.

The “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon” at HBO has cast Milly Alcock and Emily Carey in recurring roles.
“House of the Dragon” is set a few hundred years prior to the events of “Game of Thrones” and tells the story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war that became known as the “Dance of the Dragons.”
