Gladiators, suit up: The “Scandal” rewatch podcast, “Unpacking the Toolbox,” is set to return with new episodes on April 11.
“Unpacking the Toolbox” is hosted by former “Scandal” stars Katie Lowes (who played Quinn) and Guillermo Díaz (who played Huck) — their Irl friendship was forged on set, and fans nicknamed their twisted on-screen partnership Huckleberry Quinn.
Part of the iHeartPodcasts network, the Shondaland Audio series “Unpacking the Toolbox” — a reference to Huck’s torture kit — hit pause during the SAG-AFTRA strike, having covered the first two seasons of Shonda Rhimes’ ABC drama, which ran for seven seasons from 2012 through 2018.
“Scandal” revolved around Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope, a D.C. fixer who also happened to be having an affair with the very married President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn). The series was a slow burn for ABC, ratings-wise, but midway through its second season, its delightfully batshit plotting and wild weekly cliffhangers caught on with audiences,...

So far, the "Frasier" revival has shown a pretty consistent awareness of its origins, harkening back to highlights from the original series and paying tribute to the late John Mahoney, who previously played Frasier's dad, Martin. In fact, links to the beloved sitcom that ran from 1993-2004 can be found in pretty much every episode of the reboot. There have even been callbacks to "Cheers," the show on which Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane first debuted.
In the very first episode, the titular doctor pokes fun at "Cheers" with a joke about spending too much time in "a certain bar." Then, in the fifth episode, the writers used a "Cheers" joke to provide new insight into Frasier when he admitted that he never felt like he truly fit in anywhere — including the famous bar in question. When you combine all this with the fact the revival show brought back "Cheers...

It's been a long five years without Scandal in our lives, but we can always expect Kerry Washington to handle things for us.
Washington recently revisited the sudsy political thriller when she shared a video of a reunion with costar Tony Goldwyn.
If you watch Scandal online, you know Washington played D.C. fixer Olivia Pope, who was embroiled in an affair with Goldwyn's Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III.
Their ship's name was Olitz, and it was perfectly used in Washington's reunion with her former costar.
Washington walks down a hall before stopping at a door.
Behind it is Goldwyn, and when he opens it, they share a "Hi" with one other.
Also of note, the clip features "The Light" by the Album Leaf, which is their characters' song from the ABC series from Shonda Rhimes.

“The Other Black Girl” is a rarity for Black women in scripted television. The latest series from Onyx Collective to premiere on Hulu, this psychological thriller and satire tinged with horror offers a rare and provocative look into the challenges facing Black women within the larger white society, while also exploring their internal tensions through a mainstream premise.
Adapted from the 2021 book of the same name from Zakiya Dalila Harris, the show centers two Black women working in book publishing, widely acknowledged as one of the least diverse industries in the country. Nella Rogers (Sinclair Daniel) is a promising young employee at Wagner Books, with eyes on becoming an impactful editor like her idol Kendra Rae Phillips, the publisher’s first and only Black editor to date, did back in the early 1980s. You won’t know whether to laugh or scream — it’s Ok to do both — during The Other Black Girl, Hulu‘s sensational comic thriller, adapted from Zakiya Dalila Harris’ buzzy bestseller. A tonal rollercoaster, the series unfolds over 10 blissfully brisk half-hour chapters that keep a binge from feeling like a slog, as the series morphs from a Devil Wears Prada-style workplace satire into an audacious, radically charged twist on The Stepford Wives weirdness. Just try not to cringe when a mentor tells Nella (the endearingly eager Sinclair Daniel), an ambitious editorial assistant at New York’s very white Wagner Books publishing house, “You just need a little polish.” She has already endured so many patronizing micro-aggressions as Wagner’s sole Black employee, doing the bidding of her unctuous boss and almost never feeling seen or heard, that you share Nella’s delight when the chipper, hip Hazel (Ashleigh Murray...

Literary legend Toni Morrison once called racism a distraction. “It keeps you from doing your work,” she said during a 1975 speech. “It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being.” Black people must contend with everything from blatant acts of racist terrorism to small microaggressions that filter into our everyday lives. Instead of existing, you find yourself in a state of constant emotional regulation and survival, one that is exhaustingly unfair and unsustainable. For people of color and Black folks navigating predominantly white spaces, this constant state of code-switching and performance can quickly become horrific and soul-sucking.

The Other Black Girl is poised to be one of the most talked-about shows of the year.
Hulu dropped the official trailer for its adaptation of Zakiya Dalila Harris' best-selling novel on Wednesday, and it's as unsettling as expected.
"Nella, an editorial assistant, is tired of being the only Black girl at her company, so she's excited when Hazel is hired," the logline reads.
"But as Hazel's star begins to rise, Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company."
It's a compelling description, and the trailer nails what the above describes, so that's a good thing.
Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola, Hunter Parrish, Bellamy Young, Eric McCormack, and Garcelle Beauvais star.
The Other Black Girl is executive produced by Rashida Jones, Adam Fishbach, Zakiya Dalila Harris, Jordan Reddout, Gus Hickey, Tara Duncan, and Temple Hill's Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

Suddenly, all of Vera’s (Bellamy Young) demands become less grueling when she can share the experience of being Black at a majority white-staffed company with Hazel — until things get weird.
“Wagner’s just … you’ll see,” Nella tells Hazel at first in the trailer you can watch above.
Right as Vera tells Nella that she is ready to recommend a promotion to assistant editor from editorial assistant for Nella, some sinister things start happening that only Nella feels like she is aware of.

Sinclair Daniel gets rightly paranoid about her workplace as she faces a series of sinister events in the debut trailer for Hulu’s psychological thriller The Other Black Girl, set for a streaming release on Sept. 13.
The original series, from Onyx Collective and based on Zakiya Dalila Harris’ 2021 best-selling novel, revolves around Nella Rogers (Daniel), an editorial assistant in a starkly white New York City publishing house who is tired of being manipulated and marginalized as the only Black girl at her company.
So she gets excited when Hazel-May McCall, played by Ashleigh Murray, is hired and sits in the office cubicle behind her own. But as Hazel becomes the office darling at Wagner Books, Nella spirals and discovers something sinister is going on as she is left in the dust.

Showtime has announced the release date of their upcoming limited series “Fellow Travelers,” starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey. The eight-episode drama will premiere on Oct. 27.
Created by Academy Award nominee Ron Nyswaner and based on Thomas Mallon’s novel of the same name, “Fellow Travelers” is both a romance and a political thriller, depicting the secret relationship between two men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. Bomer plays Hawkins Fuller, a man with a lucrative behind-the-scenes job in politics, and Bailey plays an idealistic, religious young man. Their romance begins at the same time that Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants.” The show tracks the protagonists over four decades, through the Vietnam War protests, the drugs and disco of the 1970s, and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s.

"We'd also like to thank Fantasy Island's cast, led by Roselyn Sánchez, Kiara Barnes and John Gabriel Rodriquez, crew and executive producers Liz Craft, Sarah Fain and Anne Clements for their partnership on the series."

In the past decade or so, the television movie has been thought to possibly be dead. But don’t tell that to producer Sam Haskell, who won an Emmy for producing the 2021 television film “Dolly Parton’s Christmas On the Square.” In an exclusive video interview with Gold Derby (watch above), Haskell declares, “The TV movie is back!” He is back in the Emmy race this season as the executive producer of two films: “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas” for Peacock and “A Waltons Thanksgiving” for The CW.
Both of Haskell’s films focus on the joy of the holiday season. For “A Waltons Thanksgiving,” a reimagining of the classic, Emmy-winning series,, the focus is on the Walton family encountering a troubled youth who will change the family forever. In “Mountain Magic Christmas” the focus is on the inimitable Dolly Parton and her struggle to put on a Christmas show that will lift audiences’ spirits.
