Everyone knows the story of Robin Hood. A guy steals from the rich and gives to the poor, becoming an idol to the disenfranchised and an existential threat to those in power. You can tell that story in different settings, time periods or cultures, but it still usually pans out the same way. So how do you make Robin Hood seem fresh in this day and age? Kill him, of course. That seems to be the setup for Marian, a script from Pete Barry that reportedly sparked a lot of buzz in Hollywood before landing with Sony and Margot Robbie in the leading role. As you can guess from the title, it's about Maid Marian, but this isn't just a gender swapped version of the story. In it, Robin Hood is murdered in the middle of their cause, leaving Marian left to pick up the pieces of his...

Suicide Squad star to play lead in new twist on British legend. Separately, Tracy Morgan and Luke Wilson will star in comedic road movie The Shitheads.
The studio has acquired a speculative script that will see the Australian star play the lead in a spin-off based on the Robin Hood myth.
Donald De Line and Amy Pascal will produce Marian, in which the eponymous Medieval character Maid Marian takes arms against England’s rulers when her beloved Robin dies. Paradigm represented the script by Pete Barry.
Robbie, who starred in last year’s tentpole Suicide Squad, is also producing via her LuckyChap Entertainment alongside Rock Shaink of Romark Entertainment.
Robbie is currently shooting I, Tonya, in which she plays the controversial Us ice skater Tonya Harding.
Her upcoming slate includes Terminal, which is in post, narration work on Peter Rabbit, and the recently announced Gotham City Sirens, which will see her reprise her role as Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad...

Man, Hollywood is straight-up obsessed with all things Robin Hood right now. Perhaps it's that the "rob the rich to give to the poor" mentality seems especially relevant right now, but for whatever reason, multiple studios have Robin Hood movies in the works...and a new contender just popped up as well. Deadline reports that Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie is set to star in Marian, which is being described as "Braveheart meets Game of Thrones."
Robbie will play Maid Marian from the Robin Hood stories, but with a twist: this time, she takes on the Robin Hood mantle herself. Here's the synopsis:
After a conspiracy to conquer England in which the love of her life Robin Hood dies before her eyes, Marian picks up the cause to lead her people into a pivotal war. She comes to power, charging into a battle that will not only decide the fate...

Robin Hood, the heroic outlaw famed for stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, is enjoying something of a renaissance in Hollywood of late.
For one, there’s the Taron Egerton-fronted reboot Robin Hood: Origins, which recently entered production in Budapest, Hungary. Lionsgate is fostering that particular remake, while Hood, a Fast and Furious-styled redo, has found a home over at Sony. Last and certainly not least, Disney is reportedly making progress – slow progress, but progress nonetheless – on Nottingham & Hood.
As if the Sherwood Forest wasn’t busy enough, Deadline now brings word of a new project set within the Robin Hood universe. It’s called Marian, and has already tapped Margot Robbie to headline as the iconic Maid Marian. Sony reportedly landed rights to Pete Barry’s hot script following a heated bidding war, and has now appointed Donald De Line and Amy Pascal to produce.

Margot Robbie is officially Marian, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

There is nothing Hollywood likes to do better than take a single property and run into the ground with as many reboots, remakes, and reimaginings as possible. So even though next year we’ll be treated to “Robin Hood: Origins” starring Taron Egerton, another new take on the material is in the works, albeit with a major tweak to the story we’ve been told.

Margot Robbie has been tapped to lead “Marian.” So yes, the title makes it clear she’ll be playing Maid Marian, however, in the script by Pete Barry (said to be “gritty,” because, obviously) who witnesses Robin Hood die before her eyes, and takes up his mission, and leads the English kingdom into battle.

Exclusive: It garnered a lot of interest but when the dust cleared it was Sony that nailed the project for producers Donald De Line and Amy Pascal by pre-empting the spec Marian for actress Margot Robbie to star. A nice role for Robbie to show some more of her acting chops, this time in a serious and truly gritty turn. Think Braveheart meets Game of Thrones. Scripted by newcomer Pete Barry, Marian is based on the character from the Robin Hood folklore. Here’s the…...

The exodus from the Rush Limbaugh Radio Show continued on Monday night, with a second station and three more advertisers abandoning the under-fire conservative host. Pittsfield, Massachusett's Wbec 96.9 FM announced that it would no longer air Limbaugh's program in the wake of his withering attack on Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke, whom he called a "slut" and "prostitute" last week for advocating insurance coverage of contraceptives. "The nature of Rush's programming has always presented challenges for us and he's always pushed the envelope. But this time he's taken it too far," the station's general manager, Peter Barry,
