Welcome back to the hilariously critical world of Kristen Wiig’s Aunt Linda on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update. After a long hiatus, Aunt Linda made a triumphant return, taking aim at recent pop culture sensations with her unmistakable blend of confusion and candidness. Aunt Linda Grapples with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Aunt Linda’s critique of the Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie film was as blunt as ever. Despite the movie’s nostalgic charm and the captivating performance by Ryan Gosling as Ken, she was baffled by its premise. With two Aunt Linda ‘What In The’S’ and four ‘Gahhhhs’, she expressed her disapproval, calling it

Aunt Linda just doesn’t get it!
Saturday Night Live guest host Kristen Wiig this week reprised her grumpy Aunt Linda character to comment on popular entertainment during Weekend Update. (It’s been so long since her last visit, she initially confused Colin Jost for Seth Meyers, and later referred to Jost and Michael Che as Tina and Amy.)

Aunt Linda returned for some new movie reviews.
Kristen Wiig’s angry, middle-aged film critic was back on SNL’s Weekend Update to give her hot take on Barbie and Oppenheimer.
Wiig has appeared as Aunt Linda three times before tonight including twice in 2006 and once in 2010, while she was a cast member of the venerable NBC show.
Kicking off with a reference to her former Weekend Update colleagues. “Hello Seth, someone’s had some work done” and later “Don’t get smart Tina and Amy”.
She called Barbie “90 minutes of stinko”. “I don’t get it, is she a doll that comes to life, it doesn’t make any sense. Where are they? On the moon,” she said. “There was so much pink, the only good thing to come out of it was I remembered to take my Pepto Bismol.”

Debbie Gibson Shares 30 Fun Facts About Herself to Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Out of the Blue
Thirty years ago, an unknown 16-year-old Long Island girl named Debbie Gibson released her first pop album.

We all know how stressful the holidays can be. When you're feeling overwhelmed with your own family shenanigans, just remember that things could be worse.
Sure, Grandma Esther might pinch your cheeks and pester you about when you're finally going to settle down, but you're probably not too worried that she's poisoned the cranberry sauce.
So while you're counting to 10 before answering Uncle Carl's borderline bigoted question and avoiding Aunt Linda's attempts to discuss the presidential primaries, just remember things could be worse.
You could be sitting down to dinner with one of these families instead.
1. Game of Thrones: The Lannisters Game of Thrones is full of terrible families, but the Lannisters are probably the worst. From twincest to attempted fraticide, this family is chock full of sociopaths. When they're not busy trying to kill each other, there are outside threats to worry about. Brittany Pillman, the daughter of the late Brian Pillman, has broken her near twenty-year silence and publicly spoken out about the ordeal of her father’s passing for the first time since his untimely death in 1997.
When Pillman died in his hotel room from a heart attack at the age of just 35, leaving a wife and five young children behind, the wrestling industry bandied together in a unified display of support for the grief-stricken Pillman family. The WWF continued to pay Melanie the downside guarantee in Brian’s contract three months after his death and later produced a tribute magazine on Pillman, from which all of the proceeds went to Melanie. A year later Melanie found herself struggling and about to lose her house, so Vince McMahon stepped in and wrote her a $10,000 cheque to help keep the family afloat.

The Nightmare During Christmas: Doughtery’s Cutesy Morality Play on the Christmas Spirit
Exploring the adverse aspects of Christmas, one of the most cherished holidays around the globe, is nothing new in cinema. Irate Christians were nonplussed about Bob Clark’s 1974 serial killer flick Black Christmas and its 2006 remake, claiming it compromised the spirit of their cherished holiday. And there are all those nagging, sordid details about good ole St. Nick’s bad side, conscientiously whittled away throughout centuries of increasingly honed capitalistic tendencies as regards the holiday. Several recent films have resurrected ideas about Santa’s nastier habits and what he does to the children that are actually naughty, like Dutch filmmaker Dick Maas’ Saint (2010) or Jalmari Helander’s inspired Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) from Finland. Genre director Michael Doughtery makes a memorable entry in this growing subgenre with Krampus, a creative though utterly declawed venture which plays...

A modern fable set during what’s supposed to be the happiest time of the year, Michael Dougherty’s Krampus is a wondrously twisted take on the Christmas season that confidently blends scares and good-hearted cheer, making for a new holiday classic that proves that old-time saying true, “Be careful what you wish for.”
Krampus follows the adorable Max (Emjay Anthony), the youngest member of the Engel clan who wants nothing more than a peaceful Christmas with his family. But once his Uncle Howard (David Koechner), Aunt Linda (Allison Tolman), and their unruly brood show up, the perfect holiday concocted by Max’s parents (Adam Scott, Toni Collette) is quickly thwarted after the youngster hits his breaking point. Max declares his hatred for the holidays and what his family has become, thus triggering the arrival of a menacing force who is hellbent on teaching Max the true meaning of Christmas...

Kristen Wiig spent seven sublime years on Saturday Night Live. During that tenure, she created some of the show's most indelible and popular characters. At times this worked against her ("Another Gilly sketch?!?!" - me, every time a Gilly sketch aired), but for every unnecessary resurrection, Lorne Michaels let Wiig unleash dozens of insanely amazing creations -- especially during Weekend Update.

Today, we're wishing our favorite funny girl -- the one and only Kristen Wiig -- a happy birthday as she turns the big 4-0!
For seven years, the comedienne had us in stitches on "Saturday Night Live." While we still haven't fully recovered from her departure, the legendary lady continues to make us laugh and cry thanks to more serious projects, including "Girl Most Likely."
Kristen shamelessly throws herself into character and takes physical comedy to an entirely new level. Whether writing hits (ahem "Bridesmaids"), starring in movies or voicing adorable cartoons, we can't get enough of her.
Indulge your girl crush with us as we count the ways we love Wiig.
1. She can pull off mom jeans better than anyone else. Werk.
2. Kristen has no tolerance for stupidity, not even yours Carol.
3. Who else can upstage Garth and his unpreparedness?
4. She gives us insight into the mystical mind of celebrity question mark Bjork.

SNL is a show that runs hot and cold; it’s had good years (mid70s, early 90s) and bad (most of the 80s). Now nearing the end of its current season, it seems to be in another of its mid-decade slumps. The new faces in the last few seasons didn’t add much to an already mediocre cast, and with his lucky penny Kristen Wiig who let’s face it, carried the show in recent years, already gone and other longtime cast members soon to follow, somewhere show creator Lorne Micheals is probably in panic mode.Watching SNL be only ‘kinda funny’ makes fans of sketch comedy wish they could see new episodes of Mad TV instead of just re-runs on cable. Ok: so it didn’t run as long as SNL or have alum that continued on to semi successful yet stable movie careers. Sure, SNL had better guest stars,...

Unfortunately, Jack and Diane is not the lesbian werewolf movie early hype suggested it would be. Instead, it's a turgid character study, slow-paced to the point of painful, despite the usually sparky presence of Juno Temple and Riley Keough in the lead roles.
Jack and Diane charts the blooming of romance between the perpetually bewildered Diane (Juno Temple) and lithe skatepunk Jack (Riley Keough), two young women whose subdued lives have minimal significance within the teeming metropolis surrounding them. Their chance meeting leads to a passionate hook-up followed by a tentative relationship that bruises them both from the beginning.
It seems initially as though their fragile affection doesn't stand a chance. Both girls come from troubled family backgrounds. Jack obsesses about her dead brother, and plays his favorite '80s electropop on repeat for comfort (on a cassette Walkman,...

Lorne Michaels once named Kristen Wiig among the best performers in Saturday Night Live history — and Wiig’s stable of quirky original characters certainly dominated the show for the last few years. From her first SNL episode as a featured player in 2005 to her last show this past Saturday, she played about 18 characters who appeared in three or more sketches — no small feat, especially considering Wiig’s equally huge roster of impressions. But which of these made-up ladies should join beloved creations like Wayne Campbell, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, and Darrell Hammond’s Sean Connery (who might as well be fictional...

Though the descriptor "werewolf-lesbian-psycho-drama" piqued immense interest when word first got out, Bradley Rust Gray's "Jack And Diane" doesn't follow through on its weirdo/intriguing premise. Little work is done from the get-go to make the emotional connection between the titular characters feel believable (a huge error considering the movie's core is based around this relationship), and without that rational groundwork, the film feels forced and hollow for most of its duration.

The Academy Awards came and went without a win for her screenplay, but there's no question that Kristen Wiig is a hot commodity. The sink-pooping hilarity of Bridesmaids, which she co-wrote over a number of years, has only fueled her rising star as a Saturday Night Live featured player. And there are reports floating that she's planning on leaving SNL at the end of the season.

Kristen Wiig has said that she prefers to think of her signature Saturday Night characters as "odd" rather than "annoying". Since joining the sketch comedy series in 2005, the comic has become known for portraying the sociopathic schoolgirl Gilly, the manic Target Lady and Amy Poehler's endlessly-annoyed Aunt Linda. In an interview with The New York Times, Wiig noted that she enjoys exploring the more bizarre aspects of human nature. "I never think of [my characters] as annoying," she insisted. "If I had to put them in a category like that, I would just say a lot of my characters are that person at a party that you don't want to talk to, because maybe they're talking too much. It's fun for me to play people that are just kind of odd." Her Saturday Night Live boss, long-time executive producer (more)...

Let me begin this post with a disclaimer: I, Kate Spencer, find Glee to be insufferable and therefore haven’t tuned in since last season, except when I’m forced to pay attention to the show for work-related reasons. I know this opinion is unpopular, and in fact I work alongside many people who are diehard Gleeks (hi guys). But it’s just not my thing. (Young adult fiction? Now that I can dork out about!) My point in telling you this is to emphasis that I.Am.Biased. I am coming into this already annoyed by all things Glee.
So it should come as no suprise that I morphed into Kristin Wiig‘s Aunt Linda character when I read that creator Ryan Murphy called Gwyneth Paltrow Glee’s “muse.” Whaaaaat? Oh brother. This week on Human Target, action and suspense was the name of the game. On Lockdown, Chance had to help a weapons engineer escape the evil crutches of his corrupt supervisor.
We have been waiting for more action and this week’s episode overly did it. Chance begins by having to parachute and land on a building. Say what?
Not that this feat wouldn’t be difficult enough for the most talented skydiver, but he had to land on a two foot section of the roof. Impossible, yet Chance somehow manages to complete this without even breaking a sweat! This is going a bit too far!
An even more unbelievable part of this episode, when Chance detonates the water cooler bomb that was strategically placed at the exact spot he would need it…
How did Winston know exactly where to put the cooler? How did Chance know he would need...

Heck, even before the Blackest Night was animating corpses and murdering heroes left and right, several crises left beloved wives raped and murdered, martians punctured and burned to Choco-dust , and the original Batman shot by a time bullet trapped in time! But, thanks to DC's May solicits out this month, it seems after the Blackest Night will come the Brightest Day! And leading the pack of solicits came quite the image (we decided to be nice and put it right over there for your viewing pleasure). For the cover of DC's Brightest Day #1, its new bi-monthly book, it would seem after being all 'deadite' like... Arthur aka Aquaman aka King of the Seven Seas aka The Only Jla Member Able To Pull Off Wearing Orange is back in the land of the living!
But for how long?...
