Melvin (Douglas Stone) has decided to drop out of his education as an accountant and run himself an antiques store. Frustrated with where his life is headed and becoming ever increasingly sick of his overbearing and judgemental mother (Ultramax) his only escape are his dreams of becoming an author and heading down to his favourite movie theatre whenever he can to catch the latest skin flicks – in silly disguise of course! Here he develops an infatuation with the beautiful Tina Russel and just wishes that he could get the opportunity to satisfy her sexually. Just as this dreamer is giving up, he finds himself in possession of a mysterious lamp and after giving it a good rub, a beautiful Genie (Chris Jordan) appears granting him five wishes.

Though Scream Factory originally made their name by releasing comprehensive special editions of beloved horror titles and some lesser-known cult films deserving reappraisal, after five years the company is diversifying their output more and more. They struck an exclusive deal to release IFC Midnight titles, they’ve picked up a few films and put them out under the “Scream Factory” imprint, and have even developed and produced their very first original feature, Mark Pavia’s Fender Bender, in 2016. In addition to all of this, Scream Factory has begun releasing smaller and lesser-known catalogue titles, nearly bypassing the special features altogether and just giving some older cult titles their high-def debuts. Included in their latest slate of releases is everything from a John Stamos sci-fi action film (Never Too Young to Die) to an unofficial Troll sequel. Let’s take a look at four of these catalogue titles—The Screaming Skull,...

Betty (Angel, For Your Thighs Only) is your typical innocent Catholic schoolgirl. One day after studying her bible under the supervision of Sister Rose (Lisa De Leeuw, Pink Champagne) with her party loving friend Catherine (Ginger Lynne, Lust in the Fast Lane), she doses off (religion does that to you.) and finds herself in a world filled with lust, debauchery and some very questionable individuals indeed. Her adventures begin with her watching Catherine get down and dirty with an older guy (Jamie Gillis, Corruption) who thankfully has better taste in women than he does clothes! After the free show, Catherine promises her much more and instantly delivers by sending her to a brothel ran by Madame Rose (De Leeuw again). Directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman
Written by Andy Bellin
USA, 2013
In Billy Wilder’s excellent 1951 drama Ace in the Hole, which is a classic showcase of media manipulation, ambitious city-slicker reporter Chuck Tatum (played by an enthusiastic Kirk Douglas) finds himself stuck in Albuquerque, New Mexico with hopes to find that one big story that will jettison him to the big-leagues again. Tatum lucks out when he is informed about a man trapped in a cave-in and uses this opportunity to break big. When Tatum’s photographer asks why this will make a big story, Tatum responds that it’s a “human interest” subject and that if you can get readers to sympathize with the narrative then you have the reader’s attention. But, he also elaborates that a human interest story has to focus on one person; if you focus on others involved with the story,...

The first time we hear Roger Ebert talk in Life Itself, a deeply enthralling documentary about the late film critic who changed film criticism, he’s giving a speech (which he did quite often — sometimes, I can testify, when he was just standing in a room with you), and he observes that every one of us is more or less trapped inside the person we are. It is therefore our job, says Ebert, to attempt to understand who other people are; that’s basically the premise of civilization. And that, for Ebert, is where movies come in. Movies, he says,...

The life of Linda Lovelace, one of the most controversial figures of early ’70s pop culture received a dramatization earlier this year in the period biopic Lovelace. Ms Lovelace was of course the star of Deep Throat in 1972, the most popular and influential porn film not only of that decade, but of all time. Deep Throat remains the tawdry film which — by introducing hardcore sex into the mainstream — ushered in the infinitely more explicit internet porn that is now only a keyboard click away. Completed in less than a week, with all interior shots filmed in the same cheap Florida hotel room, the 61-minute Deep Throat cost just $30,000 to make but earned an estimated $600 million — making it the most lucrative film ever made. Was Lovelace a victim of drug abuse and prostitution, a slave to Chuck Traynor, her controlling, mean-tempered husband, or was she a willing participant in the adult film industry?...

Los Angeles, Aug 25: Actor Adam Brody had credited actress Amanda Seyfried for getting him the role of porn star Harry Reems in "Lovelace".
The 33-year-old portrays the character in the biopic of X-rated actress Linda Lovelace, played by Seyfried. He believes his "Jennifer's Body" co-star must have recommended him to the movie's producers.
"I loved working with her in 'Lovelace'. We were both in 'Jennifer's Body' in 2009 as well. I think it was probably down to her that I got this job," contactmusic.com quoted Brody as saying.
Brody, who is dating Leighton Meester, shot to fame as Seth Cohen in Us teen drama series.

Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she is worried new film Lovelace could "ruin" her career.
The actress - who plays porn star Linda Lovelace in the biopic - described her nude scenes in the film as liberating.
She told the Sunday Times Magazine (via The Mirror): "This is the riskiest thing that's happening in Hollywood right now.
"The first thing you think about is that it could ruin my career," she added.
However, she said that she felt "very comfortable" with the scenes.
"It's funny, because I felt liberated when I was doing it. I'm sure people that are very protective of me wouldn't feel very comfortable with that," the 27-year-old explained. "But it's like, what's the big deal?"
The biopic also stars James Franco as Hugh Hefner and Adam Brody as Harry Reems.
Lovelace will open in UK cinemas on August 23 and is now playing on limited release in the Us.

Who ever said porn is Nsfw?! Ok, perhaps that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it is totally work-appropriate to check out these celebs who have played porn stars on the big screen. Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody are the latest actors to dip their toes into the pornographic waters, portraying infamous Deep Throat stars Linda Lovelace and Harry Reems in the biopic Lovelace, which hits theaters today. Adam Brody became a household name the playing adorkable Seth Cohen on the hit Fox television show "The O.C." in the early 2000s. Since then, Brody has continued to be quite the working man, appearing in "Jennifer's Body," "Scream 4" and this year's "Some Girls," among several others.
This week, Brody is invading your living room (as well as select theaters) with the VOD release of "Lovelace." He appears as 1970s porn star Harry Reems, acting opposite Amanda Seyfried (who plays the titular Linda) and Peter Sarsgaard (as her husband). Brody's character is necessary comic relief in the film, which centers around the tumultuous, abusive relationship between Lovelace and her husband Chuck Traynor. He will also be seen onscreen alongside Paula Patton in the rom-com "Baggage Claim," due out September 27.

Do you appreciate a biopic cataloguing the trials and tribulations of fame: abusive relationships, drugs, exploitation, etc.? Are you a closeted connoisseur (or not-so-closeted) of vintage porn, particularly prime 1970s skin flicks? Whether either or both (they're not mutually exclusive), you're in luck this Friday when the Linda Lovelace biopic "Lovelace" hits theaters. (Check out our Berlin review here.) Starring Amanda Seyfried as the "Deep Throat" actress, "Lovelace" follows her rise to fame, thanks to porn, and fall into drugs, leading to Lovelace's ultimate renunciation of the industry. Along the way, Lovelace makes some now iconic porn films with various co-stars including Harry Reems aka "Dick Long" (Adam Brody), and suffers from emotional, physical and drug abuse at the hands of her manager husband (Peter Sarsgaard). On the less seedy side, Lovelace also gets to rub shoulders with the likes of Hugh Hefner (James Franco) and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Los Angeles — The lurid celebrity and sordid aftermath of the brief career of the world's first porn star is vividly, if not explicitly, etched in "Lovelace." Given all the ways a project like this could have gone wrong, the result is surprisingly good on several fronts, beginning with a shrewd structure that fosters an intelligent dual perspective on the public and private aspects of the "Deep Throat" phenomenon. Leaving behind the overly academic approach they brought to an earlier cultural and censorship landmark in "Howl" three years ago, directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman have made a real movie here.
Linda Lovelace was the nom de porn bestowed upon Florida girl Linda Boreman when she starred in her one and only hardcore feature, the 1972 film that became the adult film industry's first crossover smash, launched "porno chic" and went on to gross anywhere from $100 million to $600 million on an initial...

Put this on your To Do list — Lovelace, the Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman directed biopic about the star of Deep Throat opens next Friday August 9th in limited U.S. release as well as on Video on Demand and iTunes.
The film premiered at Sundance back in January to positive reviews (particularly for Amanda Seyfried’s performance) and this past week had its New York premiere. There has been a great deal of buzz surrounding this project, even as far back as 2011 when casting was being worked out. Kate Hudson was originally in talks to play Lovelace (with James Franco as her abusive husband, Chuck Traynor) but a pregnant Hudson dropped out and Seyfried came on board along with Peter Saarsgard (as Traynor) and Sharon Stone as Lovelace’s mother Dorothy.

Amanda Seyfried's newest movie, "Lovelace," puts her in the shoes of legendary adult star Linda Lovelace. It's not all triple-x romps and '70s disco fun, though. As this trailer shows, "Lovelace" is also about the aftermath of the star's debut in "Deep Throat," as well as the significant abuse her husband Chuck (Peter Sarsgaard) doles out when Linda displeases him.
We get a look at Linda's family, played by Sharon Stone and Robert Patrick, small town folks who pray at the dinner table. Then there's her inevitable rise to fame, with help from filmmakers Jerry Damiano (Hank Azaria) and Butchie Peraino (Bobby Cannavale), who can't quite believe what they see on Chuck's home movie -- a talent that will soon make Linda a superstar. Chuck's dark side surfaces; he's jealous, controlling, and violent, and when Linda informs him she's quitting porn for good, she has nowhere to turn.

It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a look at Lovelace in action. The film first drew buzz back in 2010, when documentarians-turned-helmers of Howl Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman signed on to direct. With a rival production called Inferno slated to star celebrated actress turned celebrity trainwreck Lindsay Lohan, Epstein and Friedman picked Amanda Seyfried to front their biopic. While Inferno recast before burning out, Lovelace's impressive ensemble of stars just grew and grew. Much of its noteworthy ensemble can be spotted in the trailer up top, courtesy of Access Hollywood. Seyfried plays Linda Lovelace. Peter Sarsgaard plays her controlling beau Chuck Traynor. Sharon Stone and Robert Patrick are Linda's scornful parents. Chloë Sevigny took on the role of a reporter called Rebecca. Debi Mazar and Adam Brody portray her Deep Throat co-stars, Dolly Sharp and Harry Reems. Hank Azaria in a cringe-inducing hairpiece and goatee...

The first trailer has been released for the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic, titled "Lovelace," starring Amanda Seyfried in the title role of famous "Deep Throat" porn star from the early 1970s. But the film is not focusing solely on that aspect of Lovelace's life.
The film follows Lovelace's journey from small-town Linda Susan Boreman to celebrity, as the porn industry came into being, to activist against pornography and the industry's practices.
The movie boasts some other big names, including Peter Sarsgaard as Lovelace's husband, Chuck Traynor, Sharon Stone and Robert Patrick as Lovelace's parents, Adam Brody as "Deep Throat" co-star Harry Reems and James Franco as Hugh Hefner.
"Lovelace" opens nationwide on Aug. 8, 2013.

Lindsay Lohan was fired from (or quit?) one Linda Lovelace biopic so now it's Amanda Seyfried who gets to do all of the sucking first in the other one.
Ok, sorry, that was too easy. Lovelace was the woman whose 1973 pornographic film, "Deep Throat," helped kickstart the Sexual Revolution. Lovelace was a reluctant star with a complex life story, detailed with great care in the 2005 documentary "Inside Deep Throat." (The doc was a hit at Sundance and later opened in limited release.) "Lovelace" is the biopic version of her story, starring Seyfriend in the title role that once belonged to Lilo in a competing biopic from a whole different creative team.
In the Seyfriend one, which is first up to bat, James Franco plays Hugh Hefner (!) and Adam Brody plays "Deep Throat" costar Harry Reems (so, apparently, his first pet was named "Harry" and the street he grew up on was "Reems.

In the whirlwind of a new trailer for Lovelace, Amanda Seyfried plays porn sensation Linda Lovelace — from her humble beginnings to her glamorous life as the star of Deep Throat and ending with her activist days when she spoke out against the industry that made her famous.
Peter Sarsgaard plays Chuck Traynor, Lovelace’s husband and abuser, the man who takes the good girl out of her sheltered home and shows her the world. After his turn in a similar role opposite Carey Mulligan in An Education, Sarsgaard is really starting to creep me out.

We’re thrilled to see Will Ferrell return to seventies newscasting. After all, 2004′s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is probably his single greatest contribution to popular culture. (What, did you think we we’re gonna say Land of the Lost?)
But this just released trailer for the upcoming sequel Anchorman 2 gets us excited for other reasons. The plot has Ron and the gang heading to New York City to start a 24-hour news channel. Kristen Wiig shows up as an equally dim-witted love interest for Brick Tamlin (Steve Carell), and James Marsden is on hand to provide some handsome competition for Ron. The teaser trailer’s showpiece however is Brian Fontana (Paul Rudd) apparently jockeying to be cast in a Jockey underwear commercial. He’s Jim Palmer meets Harry Reems and that’s a retro combo we can support.

Satan sure looked a lot like Obama on History Channel's hit series "The Bible" as the week started in entertainment news. The resemblance -- apparently not intentional -- caused a blizzard of media commentary on both sides of the political aisle. Then Yoko Ono posted a bloody image to remind us that over a million lives in the United States have already ended due to gun violence. Elsewhere, "Deep Throat" star Harry Reems died on Tuesday. And finally, the biggest story of the week: Is NBC really replacing Jay Leno with Jimmy...

American Eagle Outfitters appears to be selling spray on jeans through their website for people who think skinny jeans aren't skinny enough. I have no idea if you can really pay $49.95 for a can, or if this is an early April Fool's joke, but you can click through for the slightly Nsfw coed video.

Harry Reems, who soared to fame in the 1970s as the male star of Deep Throat, has died at age 65. Reems, whose real name was Herbert Streicher, had been battling a variety of health problems in recent years. Ironically, Reems was not supposed to appear in the infamous 1972 porn film that starred Linda Lovelace as a young woman whose particular talents resulted in her getting an orgasm from performing oral sex. Reems was on set as part of the crew. When the male lead didn't show up, director Gerard Damiano recruited Reems for the role. Reems went on to star in numerous porn movies but it wasn't all fun and games. At the height of the Nixon administration's crackdown on pornography, Reems became the only the actor prosecuted for appearing in an X rated film. His case became a cause celebre and anti-censorship forces rallied around him. Eventually, the charges were dropped.

As per the Internet Movie Database, Reems had already appeared in several small stag films prior to Deep Throat. He had also been featured in a tiny role in the Jane Fonda / Donald Sutherland crime thriller Klute, released in 1971 and coincidentally directed by All the President's Men's Alan J. Pakula. He later claimed that he almost landed the part of the coach in John Travolta / Olivia Newton-John's 1978 musical Grease, but the film's powers-that-be eventually reached the conclusion that his association with porn would have been detrimental to the Paramount release. (Pictured above: Adam Brody plays Reems in Lovelace, with Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace seen on her knees.) Harry Reems kept on working in the X-rated movie industry throughout the '80s. Also according to the Internet Movie Database, his last movie credit was Steve Scott's Too Good to Be True, with Ginger Lynn and Peter North,...

Adult Film Star Reems has died at the age of 65 Harry Reems, the male lead in the epoch-making early '70s X-rated entry Deep Throat, died yesterday, March 19, at a Salt Lake City veterans hospital. The actor had been suffering from various serious ailments, among them pancreatic cancer. He was 65 years old. (Pictured above: Harry Reems in the '70s.) Born Herbert Streicher in New York City in 1947, he began working in the entertainment industry after serving in the U.S. Marines. His is a classical show business tale, sort of similar to the Ruby Keeler / Bebe Daniels switch found in the classic musical 42nd Street: when Deep Throat's original male lead didn't show up on the set, filmmaker Gerard Damiano had lighting director Reems to step in as an unknown (and later come back a star). The film's plot revolved around a doctor (played by Reems) who discovers that...

Harry Reems, the star of the legendary porn film, "Deep Throat," has died. A close friend of the former porn star announced the death online. Reems was 65.
Born Herbert Streicher, Harry Reems gained notoriety and a certain sort of fame when he was cast as the male lead in 1972's "Deep Throat," one of the biggest adult-entertainment films of all time. Thanks to a casting mix-up (the actor hired to play the part never showed), Reems got the part of Dr. Young, the physician who discovers that Linda Lovelace's clitoris is in her throat. The rest is adult-cinema history.
Gerard Damiano, the writer and director of "Deep Throat," paid Reems $250 for the role.
The adult actor's career didn't exactly take off after this. In 1976, Reems became the only actor in history to be convicted of conspiracy to distribute obscenity across state lines. While this conviction was overturned on appeal...

Legendary porn star Harry Reems has died at the age of 65, report the New York Daily News.
The adult actor, who starred in 1972's "Deep Throat," died on March 19 after battling pancreatic cancer.
Reems' friend Don Schenk first reported news of the porn actor's passing, revealing that Reems, whose real name was Herbert Streicher, began to suffer health problems due to peripheral neuropathy and emphysema a few years ago, and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this past summer.
Despite months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, the cancer continued to grow. According to Schenk, Reems entered a Va Hospital on March 5, suffering from liver failure, and later kidney failure as his body began to shut down. Reems was in a coma for four days before he died on Tuesday afternoon.
Reems initially got into the porn industry after he found himself too broke to afford his $38.37/month New York apartment, and...

Harry Reems, the Bronx-born, boy-next-door porn star of the 1970s, died Tuesday after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 65. Reems, who had been living in Park City, Utah, passed away in a Va hospital in Salt Lake City, a longtime pal confirms. Born Herbert Streicher, the superstud of a dozen major hard-core movies made over 40 years ago, including the groundbreaking Deep Throat, was the only American actor ever to be convicted of obscenity. As Reems told People in 1976, "I only did the movies as a hoot. I don't feel guilty of any crime.

Harry Reems, the mustachioed actor whose work in the 1972 porno classic Deep Throat turned him into one of the most recognizable names in the adult film industry, has died. He was 65. Deep Throat’s Journey: Epstein & Friedman’s Porn Star Biopic By-the-Numbers
In their first outing not placing significant focus on the recuperation of queer subjects or thematics, filmmaking duo Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman turn to one of the most salacious historical moments concerning heteronormative sex with Lovelace, a biopic on the star of the infamous Deep Throat. While this sophomore feature effort from the documentarians feels far less experimentally pieced together than their 2010 Allan Ginsberg piece, Howl, their approach feels a tad static this time round and, perhaps in effort to be tasteful, almost too sterile. Despite its trappings of the generic biopic dressing, some engaging lead performances tend to outshine its standardized format.
Linda Lovelace (Amanda Seyfried), born Linda Boreman, became the first pornographic celebrity superstar with her one and only film, Deep Throat in 1972. A kind of good girl, an unexpected pregnancy as a teen caused her working class parents (Sharon Stone,...

There have now been any number of movies, whether documentary or fiction or docudrama, about the pornographic-film industry, including a couple of great ones (like Boogie Nights). Yet Deep Throat, the 1972 film that launched the porn revolution (and helped to kick the sexual revolution into 11th gear), marked such a seismic change in American life that it’s startling, and often quite funny, to watch Lovelace, the nimble and haunting new biopic of that film’s star, Linda Lovelace, that premiered to a very buzzy response at Sundance last night, and to realize how small-scale the whole saga really was.

Such a tease. Just ahead of Lovelace's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, a new photo of Amanda Seyfried as legendary porn star Linda Lovelace has been released. The new still shows the actress in character, just about to get to, um, work with fellow porn actor Harry Reems (played by Adam Brody). Other assorted castmembers can be seen in the new shot, including Hank Azaria in the director's chair, with Chris Noth and Bobby Canavale on either side. Also well on display: Seyfried's groovy, '70s-era hair. The Sundance Film Festival kicks off tomorrow in Park City, Utah.

Consider this … foreplay?
Lovelace, Amanda Seyfried’s drama about the dark life of a true-life 1970s-era pornstar, makes its debut a week from now at the Sundance Film Festival, and the producers have released this new image from the movie. Given its subject matter, if the film isn’t one of the most provocative of the festival, it’s doing something wrong.
Seyfried stars as porn actress Linda Lovelace, of 1972′s Deep Throat fame, whose films were part of the mainstreaming of X-rated movies before she renounced that life and became an anti-porn crusader under her own name, Linda Boreman.

Adam Brody will not rest until he's been crowned the new Indie King.
The former "O.C." star is continuing his streak of appearing in as many independent films as possible as he's signed on to star in "All the Wrong Reasons," according to Variety.
"All the Wrong Reasons" (sounds like an '80s sex comedy, doesn't it?) follows four friends who wander around New York City over the course of one eventful day. Brody joins a cast that includes Kevin Zegers as well as both Sarah Gadon and Emily Hampshire, stars of the other upcoming one-day-in-New-York adventure, "Cosmopolis."
Adam Brody was most recently seen stealing scenes from Keira Knightley as her boyfriend in "Seeking a Friend For the End of the World." He also recently starred in Whit Stillman's "Damsels in Distress" and played the villainous Nikolai Wolf in "Jennifer's Body."

Four decades after the pornographic film "Deep Throat," we need not one, but two biopics on the star of the movie, Linda Lovelace. (The first stars Amanda Seyfried. The other which may never happen -- stars Malin Akerman.) These dueling projects are just one measure of how big a deal "Deep Throat" remains 40 years after it went into wide release, on June 30, 1972. Other measures include the multi-billions in profits earned each year by a porn-film production industry that scarcely existed before "Deep Throat," the level of household-name fame the film's title earned amid the Watergate scandal, the countless courtroom challenges over whether porn merits First Amendment protections, and the still-ongoing debate over whether porn is good or bad for women -- a debate embodied by the life story of Lovelace herself, still the most famous/infamous porn star who ever lived. And then there's the snickering or prickly reaction you...

It looks like Us Weekly had the wrong Parker. According to "Lovelace" directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, Sarah Jessica Parker -- and not Mary-Louise Parker -- will replace Demi Moore in their new film about porn star Linda Lovelace. She'll play journalist and Ms. magazine co-founder Gloria Steinem.
Moore joined the project on Jan. 2, but was forced to drop out this week after being checked into the hospital for what her representatives called "exhaustion." On Friday, the 9-1-1 call from Moore's house was released, an unsettling ten minutes that revealed -- per Moore's friends on the call -- the actress suffered convulsions after apparently smoking something similar to incense.
Sarah Jessica Parker was last seen onscreen in the omnibus romcom "New Year's Eve." She joins a "Lovelace" cast that already includes Amanda Seyfried as the titular porn star, Peter Sarsgaard as her abusive ex-husband, James Franco (in a...
