Drake got very philosophical in an Instagram video posted Wednesday after being was asked what his biggest fear is.
“I’ve never really had a good answer for it, but my answer was that all this is for nothing. Kind of the idea that like, one day life ends and it just all goes black,” the rapper explained in the video. “And I guess that question like, sent me, you know, obviously deep into a spiral of thought. And it makes me think about my life and how surreal it feels at times.”
He proceeded to reflect on a life-changing audition he had for a TV show when he was “13 or 14.”
“I go back to this day when I was like 13 or 14. I had an audition for a TV show that ultimately shaped my life and before my audition, I went to this kid’s house and I – out of,...

Nearly 10 months after HBO Max ordered a new series of “Degrassi”, the popular Canadian teen franchise, and also picked up the streaming rights for all 14 seasons of “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, Et has confirmed that reboot is no longer moving forward.
Originally eyed for a 2023 debut, the new “Degrassi” series was going to consist of 10 hour-long episodes and be run by showrunners Lara Azzopardi and Julia Cohen, with filming set to begin over the summer in Toronto.
The entire library of “Next Generation” episodes, meanwhile, is still available to stream on HBO Max, after first joining the platform this spring.
“Degrassi” is about the high school experience and the roller-coaster journey of self-discovery. Set in Toronto, the updated series explores a group of teenagers and school faculty living in the shadow of events that both bind them together and tear them apart. Nearly six years after Degrassi: The Next Generation wrapped in 2015, co-creator Linda Schuyler and stars Stefan Brogren, Aislinn Paul, Shane Kippel, Luke Bilyk, Munro Chambers, Lauren Collins and more reunited to celebrate the series’ lasting impact.
The Degrassi: The Next Generation reunion kicked off this year’s Atx Television Festival on Friday. For many of the cast members, reuniting with their on-screen classmates was just like meeting with longtime school buddies as they reminisced on favorite moments from the teen drama.
“What a joy it is to be reminded of those scenes we’ve done together over the years,” Schuyler told her team.
From scenes about sexuality and abortion to mental health issues, Schuyler and the Degrassi cast reflected on how the series unapologetically tackled controversial topics, which often caused more of a stir in the United States than in Canada when they first aired. Today’s shows like Euphoria,...

On Wednesday, Drake dropped the music video for "I'm Upset" and pulled off a totally unexpected Degrassi: The Next Generation reunion. In the video, the stars of the Canadian teen drama are back for their high school reunion, and it gets lit. Drake, who played Jimmy Brooks on the TV show from 2001 to 2009, is reunited with 19 of his Degrassi castmates, including Shane Kippel, who played his onscreen best friend, Gavin "Spinner" Mason; Nina Dobrev (Mia Jones); and Ephraim Ellis, who played Rick Murray, the infamous schoolmate who shoots Jimmy and paralyzes him during season four. While most of us would probably dread going to our high school reunion, Drake managed to make it look like the best idea ever when he dropped the Degrassi: Next Generation-themed music video for his new single "I'm Upset" on Wednesday. Not only did he reunite all of our favorite characters - including Nina Dobrev (Mia Jones), Lauren Collins (Paige Brooks), Shane Kippel (Gavin "Spinner" Mason), Miriam McDonald (Emma Nelson), and Ephraim Ellis (Rick Murray) - but he also brought back a hotter-than-ever A.J. Saudin, who played Connor DeLaurier on the beloved teen series.

Yorke respectively), we can't help but reminisce about our childhood with the epic throwback video that has us deep in our feelings. Just when you think he's down for the count, Drake comes back to prove he's never out for long. After a brief quiet period following a rap beef with Pusha T, Drake dropped a surprise for all his fans on Wednesday night with the music video for his song "I'm Upset."
The high-school-reunion-themed video takes viewers back to Drake's days on the Canadian TV drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, on which he played the role of Jimmy Brooks from 2001 to 2009. It features a slew of his Degrassi castmates, including Nina Dobrev (Mia Jones), Lauren Collins (Paige Brooks), Shane Kippel (Gavin "Spinner" Mason), Miriam McDonald (Emma Nelson), and Ephraim Ellis, whose character, Rick Murray, shoots Jimmy Brooks and paralyzes him from the waist down during season four.

Drake got his old 'Degrassi' costars to reunite for his new music video on just about a week's notice ... so say two of his former cast/classmates. Whatever it took, we knew we could make it through thanks to Degrassi.
The Canadian franchise has captivated tweens and teens for 35 years – and given America some huge stars. Before Drake was a chart-topping rapper, Drake aka Aubrey Graham played Jimmy, a hotshot basketball player/amateur hip hop artist paralyzed from the waist down after a school shooting. The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev? She acted as single mom/model Mia for three seasons. And Shenae Grimes was Christian spirit squad captain Darcy before she traded Canada for Beverly Hills in 90210.
Although Netflix ordered 20 new episodes for 2016, this season marks the show's last on TV.

Degrassi stars Shane Kippel, Lauren Collins, Jake Epstein and Adamo Ruggiero reunited Monday while shooting promos for the show, which got canceled earlier this month after 14 years on the air – but is coming back with 20 new episodes in 2016 thanks to the powers that be at Netflix.

The prologue of Kim Chapiron's Dog Pound illustrates the drastically different crimes that three teenage boys have committed, thus landing them in the Enola Vale juvenile detention center to serve out their sentences. Butch (Adam Butcher) was charged with aggravated assault of an officer, Davis (Shane Kippel) for narcotics possession with intent to sell and Angel (Mateo Morales) for vehicle theft. The three boys are tossed into a large dormitory room with twenty or so others, presumably representing a menagerie of criminal histories. The mere presence of three new boys is a catalyst for a Darwinian realignment of the power hierarchy. The scariest and most violent will rise to the top of the heap, as the meekest cower at the bottom. At the heart of Dog Pound is the fact that most teenage boys seem hardwired to not rat each other out. The boys brutally attack each other, but nobody talks.

Jimmy and Spinner fans, get ready! Degrassi co-stars Drake and Shane Kippel have reunited since you know, Drake got all famous and stuff. Drake usually keeps mum about his Degrassi and Jimmy wheelchair days, but the two recently met up at a rap battle.
"The reunion with @Drake. Congrats to @905arcane, and thanks to @ryanpvpkotd and @scottjacksonbb for the sik time. Kotd," Kippel wrote on TwitterJan. 26. Later adding, "Reunited at last. Good seeing you brother! #toronto#ontario#canada#Kotd#music#bass#drums#party#backs."
Too funny. Let's hope a Nina Dobrev and Drake reunion comes next!
See? They love each other.

He may be known best as Drake, but "Degrassi" alum Aubrey Graham was formerly known (at least to fans of the Canadian teen drama) as Wheelchair Jimmy, after a school shooting left his character injured from the waist down.
Recently, Drake and fellow "Degrassi: The Next Generation" alum Shane Kippel (who played Spinner) reunited at a rap battle. The Grammy-nominated rapper has never been shy abut his teen TV past, even rapping, "I’m the same little boy that used to play up on Degrassi" in his song "Ransom," featuring Lil' Wayne.
Take a look at Drake's "Degrassi" reunion in the photo Kippel tweeted below.

I assume I'm not alone in hoping they performed Spinner and Jimmy's misogynistic "Degrassi" rap together from a 2004 episode.

The prophesy has come true! Spinner and Jimmy are together again! Drake, who has sort of shied away from his Degrassi roots, apparently reunited with Shane Kippel, better known to fans as Gavin "Spinner" Mason on Degrassi: The Next Genreation. Kippel tweeted a photo of the former castmates over the weekend, leaving us to imagine that Jimmy's stem-cell cure came through, and now he can walk again.

The Maid (15)
(Sebastián Silva, 2009, Chile) Catalina Saavedra, Claudia Celedón, Mariana Loyola. 96 mins
Less a slice of upstairs-downstairs realism than a black comedy that threatens to turn into a horror movie, this Chilean drama has been scooping awards across the globe, mostly for Saavedra's acting. She's a bravely monstrous creation, a long-suffering help whose resentments rise to the boil, particularly when a younger assistant is foisted on her. But just when we're ready to write her off, this agile, low-budget drama turns it round and confronts us with our own heartlessness. That's us served.
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World (12A)
(Edgar Wright, 2010 Us) Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ellen Wong. 112 mins
This tireless tale of modern loserdom, filtered through pop-culture consciousness, will push the buttons of younger fans, with its onslaught of music/comic book/videogame tricks and hipster humour. Older viewers may need a lie down.

This account of life in an American juvenile detention centre may not be particularly original, but it's tough and well put together, writes Xan Brooks
Here is a tense, tautly wound penal drama, a kind of pocket A Prophet that charts the mis-education of three young tearaways at the Enola Vale correctional centre in Montana. Perhaps this tells us nothing new about life on the inside in the Us (there are rapes, riots and suicides), but it at least handles its brief with pace and precision. Director Kim Chapiron lines up his cast and lets them go, rattling through the yards and corridors where danger lurks at every turn. Angel (Mateo Morales) is a fallen innocent, Davis (Shane Kippel) a tattooed Oedipus and Butch (Adam Butcher) a lanky, charismatic hothead. All Butch has to do, he is told, is make it through two weeks without blotting his copybook; without manhandling a guard,...

This is the trailer for Dog Pound, directed by Kim Chapiron and starring Adam Butcher, Shane Kippel, Mateo Morales, Lawrence Bayne, Bryan Murphy, Alexander Conti, Tim Turnell and Dewshane Williams. The Enola Vale Correctional Facility. A juvenile detention centre for teenage boys that the system doesn't know what else to do with. The long-term inmates have built a rigid power structure based on fear and the guards use the prisoners to let out their own frustrations. Butch, Davis and Angel are new arrivals. None of them know each other but they all swiftly realise that the odds are stacked against them and that their only hope for getting through their sentences is if they have each others' backs. But friendship will only get them so far when their endurance is stretched to the limit...

Following the poster which was released yesterday for the forthcoming prison drama, Dog Pound, a shiny new UK trailer has been offered up by Optimum, who will distribute the award winning film in the UK.
The trailer gives up a good indication of what to expect, and there’s evidence of some intense performances and the film’s director Kim Chapiron looks to be focusing on the central relationship between a group of inmates before things turn very nasty.
Dog Pound stars Lawrence Bayne, Shane Kippel, Mateo Morales and Adam Butcher and is out in the UK on the 27th of August.

Empire have debuted a new UK poster for Dog Pound. The film, which premiered the Tribeca Film Festival, has been met with acclaim, leading to Optimum Releasing acquiring the UK distribution rights.
Synopsis: Three juvenile delinquents arrive at a correctional center and are put under the care of an experienced guard.
Dog Pound stars Lawrence Bayne, Shane Kippel, Mateo Morales and Adam Butcher and was directed by 30-year-old Kim Chapiron, who was responsible for the 2006 horror feature, Sheitan.
The film resembles that of other prison dramas such as Hunger and A Prophet, with the emphasis this time switching to a juvenile prison, giving a astonishing look at how young people deal with the uncompromising standards of prison.
Check out the UK poster below:
Dog Pound will hit UK cinemas on August 27, 2010.

If there's one thing more likely to leave you staggering dazed from the cinema than a brutally uncompromising prison drama - Bronson, Hunger, A Prophet take a bow - it's an uncompromising juvenile prison drama, with extra levels of searing vérité provided by a cast partly made up of real-life inmates. Step forward, then, Dog Pound and its suitably bruising new quad poster.Inspired in part by Alan Clarke's '70s borstal-set Scum, Dog Pound tells the story of three young inmates at Montana's Enola Vale Youth Correctional Center. As the title implies, it's a dog-eat-dog world for drug dealer Davis (Shane Kippel), car thief Angel (Mateo Morales) and violent tearaway Butch (Adam Butcher). Each learns the hard way that lock-up isn't quite what they remember from old episodes of Porridge.Dog Pound is the handiwork of 20 year-old Parisian Kim Chapiron, whose debut, Faustian horror Sheitan, saw him bring...

The opening moments of "Dog Pound" introduce its young subjects in a frenzy of violent acts: Suave 16-year-old Davis (Shane Kippel) gets nabbed by the cops for pushing pills; 15-year-old Angel (Mateo Morales) goes down for assault and auto theft; hot-headed Butch (Adam Butcher) beats up a correctional officer. Immediately after this rapid succession of mini-scenes, director Kim Chapiron delivers the title card, as if presenting the outcome of a societal ...

Dog Pound, French filmmaker Kim Chapiron's second feature (subtitle-averse, have no fear - the pic is in English) is a chilling look inside a world all too often left forgotten in American cinema: the world of boys' correctional facilities. Their bigger, badder older brothers (prisons) being far sexier and scarier, it's not often that this equally harsh world is given its due. Well, not anymore. Chapiron's film is a gritty, clear-eyed depiction of what one can only imagine goes on behind closed doors at youth institutions. Specifically, the Enola Vale Youth Correctional Center in Montana, where there is a clear hierarchy amongst the inmates, and the social ecosphere is, as it were, dog-eat-dog. Plunged into that world come three newcomers: Butch (Adam Butcher), who assaulted a correctional officer; Davis (Shane Kippel), a drug dealer; and Angel (Mateo Morales), a car thief. Typically, walking out of a movie angry isn.t a good sign. Whereas most films that leave a moviegoer livid are just plain old bad films, the rage Dog Pound leaves you with stems from the profound nature of the material and its powerful presentation. Don.t want your kid to end up in juvie? Take them to see Dog Pound. The film opens by introducing us to the main players. There.s Davis (Shane Kippel), a 16-year-old nabbed for drug possession, Angel (Mateo Morales), a 15-year-old convicted of assault and auto theft and Butch (Adam Butcher), a 17-year-old on lockdown for assaulting a correctional officer. Upon handing over their personal items in exchange for their prison garb, the boys are rough and tough, seemingly unconcerned with their current situation. However, it doesn.t take long until they feel the pressure of their keeper, Officer Goodyear (Lawrence Bayne), and the...

From 2002 until 2008, twenty-two-year old Adamo Ruggiero played gay teen Marco Del Rossi on the long running teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation. Viewers followed Marco as he struggled to come out to his friends, fell victim to a gay bashing, found love for the first time and simply struggled to find his way in the world as an openly gay man. Behind the scenes, Ruggiero dealt with his own personal coming out story, which mirrored his on screen counterpart’s life in many ways.
Recently, AfterElton.com talked to Ruggiero not only about his decision to come out of the closet, but how it affected his career, his feelings about his years at Degrassi, his thoughts about the struggles of young gay men today, his first feature film and much more.

TORONTO -- Los Angeles-based Program Partners on Tuesday said it has cleared Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation in 60% of the country for a September launch, including 18 of the top 25 U. S. markets.
Program Partners said the off-network distribution of Degrassi: The Next Generation will be anchored by a group-wide commitment from Tribune Broadcasting, with additional clearances from stations in the Belo, Clear Channel, Granite, Gray, Hubbard and Pegasus groups as well as the CW PLUS station network.
Degrassi: The Next Generation, which is produced by Toronto-based Epitome Pictures and currently airs on CTV in Canada and The N in the U.S. market, portrays the challenges of young adulthood through students and teachers in a fictional Toronto high school.
The series' ensemble cast includes Miriam McDonald, Cassie Steele, Aubrey Graham, Deanna Casaluce, Sarah Barrable-Tishauer, Shane Kippel and Jake Goldsbie.
Program Partners found earlier success selling Canadian-made such procedural cop dramas as Da Vinci's Inquest, Cold Squad and Stone Undercover into weekly U.S.
