Six years passed without a new film from director Uwe Boll, a filmmaker some would describe as infamous, while others would say he’s legendary. Then last year he made Hanau (Deutschland im Winter – Part 1), about a real-life mass murderer. Now he’s back with the police drama First Shift, and while the movie isn’t expected to be released until sometime in 2024, a trailer has already arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.
Boll wrote, directed, and produced First Shift, which is described as being a gripping police drama with the spirit of a classic road movie, taking us on a soul-stirring journey through the vibrant streets of New York City into the depths of our own reality and the innermost corners of our souls. Immersing viewers in a high-octane adventure delving into the lives of dedicated law enforcement officers.

"This city is my future." "Your future smells like piss." Event Film has unveiled the first official trailer for First Shift, the latest project from the famously bad German filmmaker Uwe Boll. It also comes with the announcement that he has signed up with new management called Bohemia Group. Boll's First Shift is an exhilarating crime drama that immerses viewers in a high-octane adventure in New York City delving into the lives of dedicated law enforcement officers. A soul-stirring journey through the vibrant streets, weaving together the spirit of a classic road movie with the raw intensity of a police drama. "My goal is to show the audience the harsh realities that come with forming strong relationships, especially in a world as stressful as law enforcement." Leading the cast are Gino Anthony Pesi as Deo Russo and Kristen Renton as Officer Angela Dutton, with James McMenamin, Daniel Sauli, Tamara Della Anderson,...

Uwe Boll, it seems, is back.
The notorious German director of Rampage, Postal and Far Cry has wrapped production on his new film, First Shift, a New York cop drama set over an intense 12-hour shift of a veteran NYPD officer and his rookie partner. It is Boll’s first U.S. film in five years, since 2016’s Rampage: President Down.
Gino Anthony Pesi (Shades of Blue) plays the veteran cop, with Kristen Renton (Sons of Anarchy) as the rookie. First Shift shot on location in New York and is currently in postproduction at Tunnel Post in Los Angeles.
Unlike many of the films in his oeuvre, from Seed (2006) and Postal (2007) to the Rampage trilogy — movies that indulged in extreme, graphic onscreen bloodshed — First Shift, Boll says, will show his kinder, gentler side.
“It’s an action movie, and there’s a side plot involving the mob, but it’s...

After a long break from feature films, director Uwe Boll is back and ready to roll with his latest project, a crime drama about two mismatched New York City cops on their first day as partners.
“First Shift” stars Kristen Renton (“Sons of Anarchy”) and Gino Anthony Pesi (“Shades of Blue”) as the badge-carrying duo, she a transplant from Atlanta new to the Big Apple, he a jaded Brooklyn cop who prefers to work alone but forced to take on the new partner.
Set to start shooting in New York City next month, “First Shift” has moved ahead of two other projects Boll has in the works, a South Africa-set thriller and a feature about Prohibition-era federal agent Eliot Ness — famously played by Kevin Costner and Robert Stack in the 1987 film and the 1959 series “The Untouchables” — during the latter part of his career.

“A Million Little Things” — an ABC drama about a friend group that becomes closer in the wake of an unexpected suicide — has covered many important issues for marginalized communities during its three seasons on air, from racism to immigration issues to depression. Creator DJ Nash explained that many of the storylines are based on real-life experiences, and most are handled with the care they deserve.
At the beginning of Season 3, which concludes in the next few weeks, we learned that Eddie Saville (played by able-bodied actor David Giuntoli) has an unspecified spinal cord injury after getting hit by a car. On the surface, this is a typical plot for a primetime drama — after all, characters become disabled on TV sometimes. The plane crash on “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Season 8 finale that resulted in Dr. Arizona Robbins (played by able-bodied actor Jessica Capshaw) becoming an amputee is seared into TV history — but it’s not 2012 anymore.

Being a carer is tough. Even those who do it professionally and receive a wage are obliged, in most parts of the world, to scrape by on low incomes with low social status. Often people take it because it's the only work they can get. Kate (Karen Sillas) has led a troubled life, experiencing problems with alcohol and family breakdown, but she does, at least, enjoy her work, and she seems to be good at it. She bonds quickly with new patient Laura (Kristen Renton) who has a mobility impairment caused by the spinal damage referred to in the title and now compounded by a shoulder injury. But she's not good at following rules and when Laura starts flirting with her, boundaries quickly become blurred.
Suzanne Guacci's multi-layered drama is a bit of a mixed bag. There's an unfortunate shortage of chemistry between the leads which means that the film's rushed.

A surprisingly lovely and unique story. Starring Karen Sillas, Kristen Renton, Zachary Booth, Colin Bates, Katy Sullivan, Gregory M Brown, and Yvonne Jung. Generally when I see the name Bruce Dern, I have a lot of faith in a movie. He is a great actor who I enjoy seeing onscreen. But not even he could save this one. Nation’s Fire looks like a cross between a student film and a Lifetime movie, but made by a man. That man is Thomas J. Churchill, who wrote and directed the film. Nation’s Fire also stars Krista Grotte, Gil Bellows, Paul Sloan, Chuck Liddell, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Kristen Renton, Laurene Landon, Tom Proctor, Kyle Lowder, and Wyatt Walter. Here’s the synopsis:
The leader of an all-female motorcycle club abandons her gang to raise her son. Meanwhile, certain members of their all-male counterpart gang establish an underground drug ring led by a ruthless criminal. When her son is killed in a school shooting caused by the drugs and he is named as the shooter,...

"It takes courage to get back on the bike." Vision Films has released the official trailer for an indie action-thriller titled Nation's Fire, the latest from producer / director Thomas J. Churchill. This looks like one of these "how did this even get made?!" kind of terrible films that no one will even see. The former leader of an all-female motorcycle club loses her son in a drug-fueled school shooting caused by a Russian gangster and his daughter. Now she will rally her old gang and their male counterpart's motorcycle club to seek vengeance for her son's death and to prove her son was not the shooter. Sounds... very American. Starring Krista Grotte, Gil Bellows, Bruce Dern, Paul Sloan, Chuck Liddell, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Kristen Renton, Laurene Landon, Tom Proctor, Kyle Lowder, and Wyatt Walter. I don't know whether to condemn this film, or just laugh at it. Looks so stupid,...

Nicole Walker has been one of my favorite characters since she tried being a church secretary for Eric.
The Nicole I knew then was smart, confident, and willing to be devious for a good cause.
She loved Eric but wasn't afraid to stand up to him when he left her in limbo because the church wouldn't sanction their marriage.
She kept Jj's secret about the night Theresa overdosed but expressed her concerns to Daniel.
She ignored Daniel's attempt to protect her and helped fight off a drug dealer he'd decided to confront, then blackmailed the dealer into leaving town.

Our TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Fossie from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate Rafe’s dream, who kidnapped Tate and whether Brady and Theresa will survive after last week in Salem.
Rank the "Rafe’s dream" episode from a 1 (truly awful) to 10 (I loved it.)
Jack: How about -10? I found it boring, tedious and ridiculous.
Christine: 2. I like Rafe and Hope but even I have to admit that this episode was a boring waste of time.

Jennifer spied on Chad and Ciara, Rafe uncovered new information about Aiden, and Summer left Salem with Tate!
Our TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Emanon Namow from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum debate Chad and Ciara’s future, who’s behind Tate’s kidnapping, and the most annoying plot device of the week.
Do Jj and Jennifer have any reason to distrust Chad?
Jack: I think Jj saw enough circumstantial evidence to have doubts. Between Chad's sudden relationship with Andre, Ciara's weird testimony, and Chad stating that he will hide Abigail from Jj and Jennifer, there's cause for concern. I don't think Jennifer accosting Ciara or Jj accosting Chad accomplished anything useful in terms of finding Abigail, though.
Christine: I understand why Jj and Jennifer are concerned but I don’t see how ganging up on Chad helps anything. He certainly loves...

Pablo Schreiber has been chatting about going full Bonnie and Clyde with Emily Browning on American Gods...
The TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's American Gods may have started out as the story of Shadow Moon and his dealings with Mr. Wednesday, but over the course of 8 episodes the relationship between Pablo Schreiber's leprechaun and the dead girl who absorbed his lucky coin (Emily Browning) became the most engaging storyline of them all.

Turns out Runaways actress Riley Keough's wedding earlier this month was the place to be for every cool girl in Hollywood.
The 25-year-old granddaughter of Elvis Presley married stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen on Feb. 4 in Napa Valley, Calif., and had quite the star-studded guestlist. Just some of the A-listers who came to celebrate the nuptials included her Runaways co-star Kristen Stewart, model Cara Delevigne and her Mad Max: Fury Road co-star Zoe Kravitz. Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson also served as a bridesmaid.

HitFix Award Gurus Kris Tapley and Greg Ellwood are both attending Saturday's Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (February 21) afternoon in Santa Monica and they left me to handle HitFix's Independent Spirit Awards Winners & Losers list. And once I'm watching Saturday's show, I might as well be live-blogging Saturday's show as preparation for Sunday's Oscars live-blog, especially since is the last time that "Birdman" and "Boyhood" will be going head-to-head for Best Picture (along with "Selma" and "Whiplash") before the Academy Awards. So follow along and say "Hi" in the comments below... And remember that Saturday's show, hosted by Kristen Bell and Fred Armisen, is airing live on IFC, not that obnoxious tape-delayed thing they used to do! 1:50 p.m. Pt. The show hasn't started, but if you're following the Winners list, you know that "Birdman" has already won for for cinematography, while "Whiplash" won for editing, both results I can accept.

Actors who are cast in a film together often posses a certain quality or look that make them suitable as co-stars. And in this world of sequels, prequels, remakes, and competing franchises, it can be those same characteristics that also make them fitting for the same roles. Here are ten sets of actors who had played, or ended up playing, the same character as their co-star - but in a different movie (with a couple of television series exceptions):
Vito Corleone - Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando
Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro both earned Oscars for their portrayals of Vito Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather trilogy. Decades later, the two Vito Corleones starred together in the 2001 heist thriller The Score, which was directed by the voice of Yoda himself, Frank Oz — an offer they couldn't refuse, he must have made them.

David Ochoa is a bi-coastal headshot photographer who recently got the urge to pay it forward. He teamed up with Justice Speaks, a charitable organization that builds homes in Thailand for victims of sex trafficking, and “8 Days,” a film inspired by an actual victim of sex trafficking, for a fundraising event. During the two-day event, actors can get a discount on headshots and the proceeds will go to help the charity and distribute the film. “It hasn’t yet hit the masses,” says Ochoa of "8 Days." “The more funds we can raise, the more funds we can give to the non-profits,” he says. “It’s all about the pay it forward.” Headshot packages that usually go for $450 are being offered at $125, while $600 two-look packages are going for $165. The event is being held Feb. 8 and Feb. 11. “Part of this is bringing awareness to this sex trafficking cause," he says. More details are available here.
