Mia Bible
- Actress
- Writer
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Mia's curiosity for acting was unexpectedly reignited after watching the 2009 romcom, "Julie & Julia" where she too was at "loose ends" with her life's direction. In 2011 she made her theatrical debut in the stageplay "Zella," playing the role of Ella Mae, and her passion for acting took off. She has gone on to co-star in "Celebrating the Power of Dreams: The Annie Malone Story" stage play, being cast in award-winning films, "Unresolved," and "Honorable," where she won Best Ensemble Cast in her supporting role as Maya Angelou. She has also co-starred in commercials for local and regional companies.
Her palate for storytelling expanded to screenwriting and producing when she was selected for the highly regarded Continuity Media Production program in 2019. With new knowledge and resources, she developed her script into a short film titled "Honorable," a fictional story about the redemption of Malcolm X Shabazz and Muhammad Ali's brotherhood. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Mia and two producers crowdfunded donations to start production the same year, but not without significant adversity. To support her crew's mental and physical health during the pandemic, Mia raised additional funds to host a 3-day post-production wellness workshop led by local film experts to design their post-pro and distribution plan. "Honorable" was completed in 2023 and is being showcased in film festivals. She aims to turn this pilot wellness workshop into a fully-funded fellowship that helps under-recognized filmmakers create a comprehensive plan for their scripts, from pre-production to distribution while promoting their overall well-being.
After facing challenges in finding experienced Black crews to portray this story about Black revolutionaries, Mia established The Industry Bible, an initiative to create an equitable film and theatre industry for Black production crews in St. Louis through diversity reports, hiring pledges, and a centralized database.
A key aspect of her practice has been to build community in the arts and pursue social and biblical liberation of Black people. When she's not performing, Mia is a thrill seeker and loves spending time with her family. Her ultimate dream is to become a household name in acting and develop a co-living community for actors of color in her hometown.
