Looking to jam with some legends? The Spring 2024 edition of Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp has been announced, with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, The Offspring guitarist Noodles, and 311 frontman Nick Hexum leading the lineup.
The four-day camp runs April 18th to 21st in Los Angeles. Aspiring singers and instrumentalists will be placed into bands with other campers and receive mentoring from one of Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp’s rockstar counselors, including Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent), Bruce Kulick (Kiss), Todd Morse (The Offspring), Vinny Appice, Gary Hoey, Tommy Black (Scott Weiland), and camp musical director Britt Lightning (Vixen), among others.
The camp will culminate with a pair of gigs at Whisky a Go Go and The Viper Room, where campers will get to perform alongside Smith, Noodles, and Hexum.
“I am looking forward to jamming with the campers this April,” said Smith in a press release.

Bittersweet endings are anything but rare on television. Likewise, finding Kiss on television -- especially for the aging rockers amongst us -- has been like discovering bubbles in water for the last five decades.
Gene Simmons' proud stagger and Paul Stanley's powerful pursed lips have frequented screens large and small -- just gravy atop the half century's worth of music the inspiring heavy metal musicians have bestowed throughout Kiss' legacy.
But with Biography: KISStory, a two-night event on A&e, Kiss fans will get to see something they might not be used to.
Paul and Gene spend much of their mini-series interviews inside Electric Lady Studios, where they laid down their first 1973 demo with recording maven Eddie Kramer. The studio was created and opened by Jimi Hendrix in New York.

The press conference had barely begun when Gene Simmons weighed in with typical bluntness. “This tour and the whole event,” he said, leaning into a microphone, “it is a culmination of more than a decade of our fans being on top of our asses saying we have to do it.”
The “it” was the fantasy of Kiss fans across the globe: a reunion of the original quartet, in full makeup, reviving the songs and stage costumes that had made Kiss one of the all-conquering bands of the Seventies. And on April 16th,...

Bob Kulick, a guitarist with Kiss, Meat Loaf and Lou Reed, has died at age 70.
His brother, Bruce Kulick (who was also a guitarist for Kiss), posted the news on social media. No cause of death was given.
“I am heartbroken to have to share the news of the passing of my brother Bob Kulick,” Bruce Kulick wrote on Instagram. “His love of music, and his talent as a musician and producer should always be celebrated. I know he is at peace now, with my parents playing his guitar as loud as possible.”
Kulick auditioned for Kiss in 1972, but didn’t get the gig, as Ace Frehley was chosen. But he was brought in five years later to help with the recording of the eighth Kiss album, “Alive II.” He played lead for three songs on the album.

Kiss reunited with original lead guitarist Ace Frehley for the first time in 17 years for an acoustic set on the annual Kiss Kruise. Frehley joined Kiss for four songs, including “Nothing to Lose” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.” The group also performed their cover of the Rolling Stones’ “2000 Man” – which Frehley sang on 1979’s Dynasty – as well as Hello’s “New York Groove,” which Frehley covered on his 1978 solo debut.
Prior to their rendition of “Nothin’ to Lose,” Frehley said, “This is great… this is so great. Thank you guys for inviting me up.

Kiss’ End of the Road tour might be three months away, but that hasn’t stopped them from telling the public what they can expect from the show. In a series of interviews, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have promised an expanded set list and a completely reimagined stage set. “We virtually have thrown out everything that has been on stage for the past 10 years, at least, and created a whole new stage and a whole new show,” Paul Stanley said. “We’re not crawling to the finish line; we’re celebrating.

Kiss recently became the latest in a very long list of rock acts to announce a farewell tour this year. Many fans were probably a little skeptical when they heard the news since, well, Kiss already went on a farewell tour. It happened back in 2000 and kept them on the road for well over a year. They played 142 concerts to fans that all believed they were seeing Kiss for the final time. Here’s video of the group launching the tour with “Detroit Rock City” at the Desert Sky Pavilion in Phoenix,...

Chicago – Prior to embarking on her highly successful solo career and becoming the queen of 1980s metal, Lita Ford was the lead guitarist of the aggressive, female rock band The Runaways in the 1970s. From playing heavy riffs on “Cherry Bomb” to a duet with the infamous Ozzy Osbourne on the song “Close My Eyes Forever,” Ford has seen and done it all in her 40 years in rock and roll.
She took a break from her current book tour for “Living Like a Runaway” to answer a few questions from HollywoodChicago.com’s Jeff Doles.

2014 is a landmark year for the Hottest Band in the World. Kiss started the year off by being inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame and announcing a tour that will take them across the United States. Not a bad way to kick off the celebration of forty years of makeup, mayhem, and magic. The group now releases a new compilation album featuring one song off of every studio, compilation, and live album. They top it off with a few commercially unreleased tracks that will get their army even more heated up and ready to party with the band in a concert venue somewhere.
The songs off of their different albums aren't always the ones you'd expect the group to choose for Kiss 40. This just shows the guys thinking outside of the box again. Known for "Deuce" off their debut album, this time we get "Nothin' to Lose.

Kiss was recently inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame after forty years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. Unlike other bands, not all of their current and former associates were asked to share the honor. The Hall of Fame only awarded original members Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss in the ceremony which took place on April 10, 2014.
Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons were enraged by the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame's decision and refused to perform at the event. How could thirty years of hit records and songs still being played in their concert sets just be ignored? Not only were the two founding members of Kiss irritated by this, but many fans of the band's music past their early makeup days were as well.

Wall Township, N.J. (AP) — Kiss won't rock and roll all night — or at any point during the day, either — when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, the band said Sunday. The 40-year-old group is unable to agree on which lineup should perform during the April 10 ceremony in New York City, and has decided not to plug in at all. The dispute concerns whether original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss would join Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley in a live performance, or whether the current lineup of Stanley, Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer would play instead. In a message on its website, Kiss said it won't perform with any lineup, calling it "an emotional situation where there is no way to please everyone." "Our intention was to celebrate the entire history of Kiss and give credit to all members, including longtime...

Fans of legendary author H.P. Lovecraft know how closely the ideas of sound, music and strange vibrations are woven into his literary works – from the supernatural serenade called forth in "The Music of Erich Zann" to the sonic “resonator” that opens a dimensional portal in From Beyond. Many musicians have tapped into Lovecraft's tales for inspiration – sometimes purely for fun, as in the case of Re-Animator: The Musical, co-produced for the stage by another horror icon, Stuart Gordon. As you know, Gordon's long association with Lovecraft's work began in earnest with the 1985 classic Re-Animator, and includes a memorable episode of the Showtime series Masters of Horror: “Dreams in the Witch House.” That same tale, which Lovecraft penned in 1932, is now the basis of an epic rock opera produced in association with the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society. While Gordon is not involved in this project, it does feature one...

While not as widely known on this side of the Atlantic, international supergroup Avantasia is kind of a big deal: their new rock opera The Mystery of Time not only charted highly in their home base of Germany, but also hit the Top 10 album sales charts in Finland, Sweden and the UK in the first few weeks of its release. The record recently reached North American shores via Nuclear Blast Records, and it's picking up some positive buzz among gothic/symphonic metal fans, so it's high time I gave this one a spin. Founded in 1999 by composer/singer Tobias Sammet (above, frontman for popular power-metallers Edguy), Avantasia is a “supergroup” in every sense of the word: not only does it feature an all-star cast of artists, it's more of an army than a mere band. Sammet gathers icons of pop, hard rock and metal for Avantasia's globe-spanning projects, with guests...
