Daniel M. Borunda, Writer and Producer of "When the Angels Dance," and Executive Producer of the Borunda Media Group, has been enamored with plays and films since childhood, when he produced his first puppet show at eleven.
He has followed his childhood passion through his film and television production education at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and was selected into UCLA's coveted Master of Fine Arts program, where he earned the highest grade possible for his gritty short film "Hollenbeck Hero," the stirring true story of a former gang kid turned boxer, who went on to win an Olympic Gold Medal. Like his impressive education, Daniel's professional career flourished. He sold his first screenplay, "Welcome Home" to Columbia Pictures, and went on to write three more screenplays and co-produce two mini-series for syndicated television, "Count of Monte Cristo" and "William the Conqueror." Daniel has also written two, produced Off-Broadway plays "Something About Joey" and a two-act adaptation of the best seller by Barbara Robinson, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever."
In addition to writing and producing a couple independent films, in 2018, Daniel launched an innovative news series "America Unscripted." The hard-hitting, thought provoking series covers both national and global news, and deals with social issues that are dividing our nation, and presents solutions. In 2021, Daniel wrote and produced a ground-breaking 2-hour documentary "Time for Change" that chronicled the tragic death of George Floyd, and explored the roots of racism in America. The critically acclaimed documentary earned notoriety in multiple film festivals around the world, including winning a Best Documentary Award in the Europe Film Festival, and it was a finalist for Best Documentary in the New York International Film Festival.
In addition to two recent screenplays, an inspiring baseball drama "When the Angels Dance," and an action adventure, romance set in Spain, "Dance of Death," Daniel says his latest work adapting the top-selling book "Operation Grab Bag" into a screenplay has been a thrilling and educational adventure. "What's so amazing about this story, is how close Hitler was to winning the war. I've learned so much about WWII and the incredible technological advances within the Nazi Air Force. This film, "Operation Thunder Storm," will be like watching living history, and it reveals the real threat posed by the German's jet engine advances during WWII, which has never been seen in a film before. The story really has it all, suspense, espionage, action, and it's a great love story.
