I was able to watch the unstoppable, nearly nine-year-old touring production of two-time Olivier Award nominees Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner's parody Potted Potter The Unauthorized Harry Experience twice the first time was at Little Shubert Theatre Off-Broadway, which starred Clarkson and Turner, in 2012 the second time was at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in Manila, which now stars British actors Benjamin Stratton and James Percy, last Tuesday.

Update: Performances of "Potted Potter" has been extended at the Little Shubert Theater through Sept. 2, 2012!
The Harry Potter movies are over, you've read all the books, but you still want more of the boy wizard? The stage show "Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience - A Parody by Dan and Jeff" is satisfying the need in the funniest of ways. BBC Television Hosts Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner condense (or "pot" - I guess that's a British term) all seven books in the series into "70 madcap minutes" including multiple costume changes, songs, props and plenty of Hogswarts' magic. It's scheduled to play at the Little Shubert Theater in New York City (422 West 42nd St.). KidsPickFlicks' New York correspondents Daniel, Ethan and Gabriel and mom Julie say "Potted Potter" is a Pick!

As it turns out, wizards aren't the only ones who possess magic. Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have managed to create a bit of their own, using a beaker of creativity, a dash or two of ingenuity, and some good old fashioned parody. The former BBC TV hosts have written, and and are currently starring in, the Off-Broadway smash hit Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience, a show which has received rave reviews from both critics and yes, even Muggles themselves. They're also getting kudos from those who have never even read a Harry Potter book. How's that for some hocus-pocus? Informally known as Dan and Jeff, England's dynamic duo have managed to take on what is arguably the most popular book series ever written and created an enjoyable, funny, and quirky way to tell Harry's entire story. No smoke and mirrors here, the talent is real, and even though the props are simple,...

If you have a deeply held belief about Dumbledore, smile just thinking about Fred and George Weasley and have -- even fleetingly -- imagined which house of Hogwarts best suits you, then "Potted Potter" is for you. Especially if you still define yourself by what grade you're in.
Two actors tackle all seven Harry Potter books in 70 minutes at off-Broadway's Little Shubert Theatre. Considering it took Hollywood two movies just to try to capture the seventh novel, this is quite an ambitious goal.
And one it doesn't always reach. The show is a little rough around the edges, which is surprising since the two started working on this seven years ago when they were commissioned to do a five-minute street show for people on line to buy the sixth book. Over the years, they have added on to it and performed it at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and in London.

In 2005, British actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner were commissioned to create a five-minute street show condensing the first five Harry Potter novels. The two unemployed actors are slated to perform the madcap snippet for hundreds of fans waiting outside a London bookstore for the midnight release of the sixth volume.Little did Clarkson and Turner know they were about to launch a mini-cottage industry. Within short order, they expanded "Potted Potter" into a 70-minute show and toured the United Kingdom. They became comic hosts on British children's television and their fan base grew. "Potted Pirates"--a parody of pirate films, history, and folklore-- followed. That was topped by "Potted Panto," a satire of British Christmas pantomimes. "Panto" and "Potter" played sold-out runs and each walked off with Olivier nominations for Best Entertainment. Now on a world tour, the daring duo is currently regaling audiences Off-Broadway at the Little Shubert with their.
