Mei Lee is 4*Townie, sharing her love for each member of the fictional boy band. Some viewers wonder, however, why the Turning Red group is called 4*Town if there are actually five members. Here are some theories surrounding the Disney and Pixar production.

Mei Lee and her friends are unapologetic 4*Town fans, with “1 True Love” and “U Know What’s Up,” included on the Turning Red soundtrack. One of the boy band’s most popular songs is “Nobody Like You,” performed by all five members of the fictional group.
These original songs were written by the sibling songwriting duo of Billie Eilish and Finneas, with Jordan Fisher as Robaire, Josh Levi as Aaron Z., Topher Ngo as Aaron T.,...

Next week, Disney+ will release its second annual variety special for Pride Month — featuring a parade of talent celebrating the LGBT community “through song and storytelling.”
But “Say It With Pride: Disney+ Celebrates Pride 365” won’t be available on Disney+ itself. Rather, the special will premiere June 30 at 8 p.m. Et on Disney+’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
Asked why “Say It With Pride” will not be distributed on Disney+, a company spokesperson declined to provide an explanation. Last year’s “This Is Me: Pride Celebration Spectacular” from Disney+ also streamed only on YouTube and Facebook.
According to Disney+’s announcement, the upcoming special “aims to uplift voices from the community to discuss their journeys, celebrate the achievements and contributions of the Lgbtqia+ community, and look toward a future that embodies diversity and unity with Pride.”
Why doesn’t that fit into the Disney+ programming lineup? One way to look...

After teasing it on Twitter, Finneas did it: he brought 4*Town — the fictional early aughts boyband he co-created with his sister Billie Eilish for Pixar’s “Turning Red” — to the Coachella music festival in Indio, California. Sort of.
During his set on Sunday, Finneas played about a minute of “Nobody Like U,” the big 4*Town jam from “Turning Red.” He was, sadly, without his other 4*Town bandmates and it was an acoustic performance. But still: any 4*Town is good 4*Town.

Growing up presents all sorts of challenges, big feelings being one of them. Like “Inside Out,” Pixar’s latest project “Turning Red” spotlights this right of passage, and how parents pass things onto their children in addition to children going through physical and mental changes.
Director Domee Shi (“Bao”) is the first woman filmmaker with a solo directing credit on a Pixar feature, breaking yet another glass ceiling in terms of diversity in Hollywood. This Pixar feature film also takes place in Canada, and increases the number of movies that star a central Asian character.
The film also features brand new songs written by brother and sister Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.
Parents and children alike are probably searching for the details regarding how to watch “Turning Red,” and we have them all below.
When Does ‘Turning Red’ Premiere?
“Turning Red” came out on Friday, March 11.
Will ‘Turning Red’ Be Streaming or in Theaters?...

“Turning Red,” Pixar’s latest animated adventure, posed some pretty big musical challenges: it’s about a 13-year-old girl, obsessed with a boy band, whose Chinese ancestry literally looms large as she turns into a giant panda when her emotions spin out of control.
It demanded a trio of world-class talents: Grammy winners Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell for the songs and Oscar, Emmy and Grammy winner Ludwig Göransson to compose the score.
That such high-profile talents were available and eager to contribute to “Turning Red” says a lot about the music-friendly reputation of Pixar, which has won five music Oscars (including last year’s “Soul”) and 11 more nominations for either song or score since the original “Toy Story” in 1995.
Tom MacDougall, president of Walt Disney Music, conferred with director Domee Shi — whose personal coming-of-age, mother-daughter conflict story inspired “Turning Red” — and reached out to all of them in 2019, before production on the film began.

Whether you were Team Backstreet Boys or Team *Nsync in your youth, it doesn’t matter — we are all 4*Townies now. Disney’s first ever boy band has arrived and, according to its members, singing together was truly magic.
“Turning Red,” now streaming on Disney+, introduces 4*Town — cleverly playing on the asterisk in *Nsync, and the name of lesser known boy band O-Town — and, like any tweens would be, Mei and her friends are obsessed with the group.
With songs written by Billie Eilish and Finneas, the group is made up of Finneas, Jordan Fisher, Josh Levi, Grayson Villanueva and Topher Ngo. Sadly, there was no official boy band boot camp for 4*Town, though Ngo, who lends his bass vocals to the group, would’ve loved if there was.

The agonies of adolescence get a charming, Hulk-like twist in the new trailer for the upcoming Pixar flick, Turning Red.
The animated film stars Rosalie Chiang as Mei Lee, an eager, exuberant, and endlessly busy 13-year-old whose life is upended when she’s suddenly saddled with the ability to transform into a giant red panda when she gets too excited. While Mei is first frustrated by what her mom Ming (voiced by Sandra Oh) describes as a “little quirk [that] runs in our family,” she soon learns how to control the...
