United States-based Dark Star Pictures, Mexico-based Mantícora and Spain-based La Dalia Films are joining forces to form Antídoto Horror Factory, Variety reports.
The new genre label will “develop, produce, distribute and sell a minimum of four genre feature films in the next four years, starting pre-production in 2023.”

U.S. distribution company Dark Star Pictures, Mexico’s Mantícora Distribution and Spain’s La Dalia Films announced at Cannes a strategic deal to launch genre label Antídoto Horror Factory.
The venture, unveiled at the Marché du Film’s new genre-focused Fantastic Pavilion, will develop, produce, distribute and sell a minimum of four genre feature films in the next four years, starting pre-production in 2023.

In a deal negotiated at the Fantastic Pavilion, Mantícora has picked up all rights for Latin America, the U.S and and Canada for what we hear is a six-figure sum. The deal was negotiated by José Luis Mejía Razo from Mantícora and Guido Rud, Federico Pascua and Matias Fontenla of FilmSharks.

Mantícora Distribución has acquired the vampire story “While the Masters Sleep” by Santiago Alvarado Ilarri for international sales.
The film – which will also mark the debut of Spain’s La Mala Compañia, the result of a partnership between Magno Entertainment and Msp –will be presented in Cannes as one of the Gala Screenings at the Fantastic Pavilion, a brand new hub for the genre community at the Marché du Film. Sula Entertainment and Morbido TV are also on board.
