Few shows remain relevant following the end of their run, but Suits staged a big comeback last year when the first eight seasons landed on Netflix.
The former USA Network legal drama broke countless streaming records and reignited interest in the franchise.
Recognizing an opening to restart the franchise, NBC put a spinoff — Suits: L.A. — into development.
Despite being billed as a shoo-in for a pickup for the 2024-2025 TV season, it was absent from the recent wave of NBC series orders and the network’s fall 2024 schedule.
Thankfully, the lack of pickup isn’t bad news because NBC has yet to watch the Suits L.A. pilot.
“We’re excited about this. It’s a pilot and we’ll be screening it in June … Assuming that it gets picked up it would be for midseason next year,” NBCUniversal boss Jeff Bader shared this week, according to The Wrap.

NBC is keeping its new Suits hanging a while longer.
The network on Friday announced its schedule for the 2024-25 TV season, and the offshoot Suits: L.A. — which has yet to receive a series order — was notably absent from the lineup. However, the pilot is still in contention, with a decision to be made at a later date after execs screen the episode in June. If picked up to series, Suits: L.A. could air midseason or roll over to the 2025-26 season, the network notes.

There’s nobody quite like Harvey Specter. The character from Suits is undeniably one of the best ever created. Since the show ended, the fan base for this character has only grown stronger. As a result, the idea of a spin-off emerged called Suits L.A., and work on it is in full swing, although details are still tightly under wraps.
While it’s a spin-off, the show promises to offer audiences something new while maintaining the integrity of the original series. And Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black, already proves that while loosely inspired by Harvey Specter, Black differs from Specter in one significant way.

How Does Stephen Amell’s Ted Black Differ From Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter?
As a spin-off, comparisons between Suits L.A. and the original series are inevitable, with particular scrutiny likely falling on Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black.

Dylan Dreyer navigated through what may have been a somewhat awkward moment on live television.
The meteorologist and host of Today’s 3rd Hour was involved in an on-air segment with her colleague Al Roker, which was later posted online.
They joke with each other frequently, with Al sometimes riling Dreyer up with his quips.
However, Dreyer tends to fire back when necessary and did that during one recent Today segment.
During a recent Today episode, the duo teamed up for a Movies and Munchies Superfood Quiz segment.
Married actors Bryan Greenberg and Jamie Chung also appeared on that Today episode and competed against them for the game.

Verdi Productions, run by Chad A. Verdi, Paul Luba, Chad Verdi, Jr.
and Michelle Verdi, plans to release three films in 2024 that were previously put on hold since actors were unable to promote work during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
“Workers in the film industry are getting financially destroyed by these strikes, whether it’s actors, writers, directors or crew. Most of these individuals were already working multiple jobs to get by,” Verdi said in a statement. “This widespread production shutdown didn’t hurt the top 1% in the industry but ruined many people who work week-to-week and paycheck-to-paycheck. It’s very unfortunate to see. Let’s get our union members a fair deal so that they can get back to doing what they love.”

Netflix’s list of films premiering on the streaming service in 2023 isn’t nearly as long as their ambitious 2022 film slate. Yet even with a slimmed-down slate, the lineup of movies arriving this year is impressive and checks off nearly every genre.
The streamer will be dipping back into familiar territory with sequels to Murder Mystery and Extraction. Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, Sam Esmail’s Leave the World Behind, and David Yates’ The Pain Hustlers will premiere this year, as will the film continuation of Luther starring Idris Elba. And two romantic comedies with big-name casts made their way into the lineup: Your Place or Mine (Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon) and A Family Affair.

Whether you go into the trailer without knowing a thing about it or simply listen to it with your eyes closed, it won't be hard to figure out whose mind is behind Netflix's upcoming original film, "You People." Kenya Barris' fingerprints are all over this project, which fits in neatly with the rest of his resume. Not unlike "Black-ish," "Grown-ish," "Mixed-ish," "BlackAF," and 2022's "Cheaper By The Dozen," Barris' directorial feature debut will explore the struggles of family dynamics and clashing cultures via a modern-day multiracial relationship. This time, the drama is shared between two different families on the verge of becoming one.
When Ezra Cohen (Jonah Hill) and Amira Mohammed (Lauren London) fall in love, they have no choice but to introduce their families and pray that nothing goes terribly wrong. But where's the fun in things going well? The tagline of "You People" speaks for itself: "Opposites attract,...

Netflix has dropped the full trailer for You People, its upcoming Kenya Barris comedy starring and co-written by Jonah Hill.
The three-minute teaser for Barris’ directorial debut delivers a fuller look at Hill’s character, Ezra Cohen, and his effort to find love, and more specifically, woo Lauren London’s Amira Mohammed in Los Angeles. At the top of the trailer, Ezra reveals to his friend (played by Sam Jay) his desperation to find partnership amid feeling “alone, on a building, dangling my legs off wondering what it’s like to feel companionship.”
“I don’t think I’ve heard of a man ever who wanted to be in a relationship so badly besides Drake,” says Jay.
Enter Amira, who — following an airport rideshare mix-up in which Ezra mistakes her for his actual Uber driver — causes Hill’s character to reveal that he’s “never felt so understood by somebody in my entire life.

Netflix released its first look at Kenya Barris’ directorial debut You People on Monday, teasing what’s in store for the modern rom-com starring Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, Nia Long and Lauren London.
Co-written and produced by Barris and Hill, the film follows a new couple, Ezra Cohen and Amira Mohammed, played by Hill and London respectively, who meet after he accidentally gets into her car. Jonah Hill is begging to win Eddie Murphy’s approval in a new Netflix comedy directed by Kenya Barris.
Co-written by Hill and Barris, “You People” stars the “Superbad” alum as a Los Angeles native looking to wed his girlfriend (Lauren London). However, the interracial couple find themselves at a crossroads when it comes to winning over each others’ families, played by Eddie Murphy, Nia Long, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and David Duchovny. The official synopsis hints at the couple “confronting societal expectations and generational differences” amid clashing cultures.
Sam Jay, Elliott Gould, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Mike Epps, Alani La La Anthony, and Bryan Greenberg also star.
“Black-ish” series creator Barris — who also penned “Shaft,” “Girls Trip,” and the upcoming “White Men Can’t Jump” remake — produces the film alongside Hill and Kevin Misher. David Hyman, Matt Dines, Hale Rothstein, Alison Goodwin, Mychelle Deschamps, Andy Berman, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster serve as executive producers.
