- Has the most home runs of all Phillies catchers.
- Signed a one-day contract with the Phillies on June 1, threw out the ceremonial first pitch and then officially retired from baseball. (June 2008)
- Selected by Philadelphia Phillies with third overall pick in 1990 Major League Baseball Draft. Has played in the major leagues for the Philadelphia Phillies (1994-present) National League All-Star in 1999 and 2000. Was the Rawlings Gold Glove winner for National League catchers in 1999. National League Co-Comeback Player of the Year in 2002. Shared award with John Smoltz of the Atlanta Braves.
- Inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
