- Mike Holoboff was born in Canada, his parents having emigrated there from Russia. In the early '20s the family moved to Los Angeles. Although most returned to Canada a few years later, Mike remained in L.A. In the early '30s he was hired by Walt Disney Studios and worked on several of its animated films as an assistant director (although uncredited), such as Fantasia (1940), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and Pinocchio (1940).
He worked on many projects for Disney, both on animated films and live-action features, usually in a production or technical position such as production manager or assistant director. When Disney entered the television field, Holoboff was put to work on such projects as The Mickey Mouse Club (1955), again in production capacities.
After the show ended Holoboff--unlike many of the production people from the show--was retained by Disney and worked on many of the studio's animated and live-action productions.
