Forrest Gump’s famous box of chocolates from 1994 has sold for over £20,000 at auction.
The legendary box of confectionary, which were used as Forrest’s (Tom Hanks) prop on the set of the film were sold for Valentine’s day.

Cate Blanchett has issued a staunch defence of films and TV shows that explore controversial figures.
The Australian actor is currently up for the Oscar and Bafta awards for Best Actress, thanks to her performance as a fictional, world-famous but narcissistic conductor in Tár.
In the film, Blanchett’s character Lydia Tár finds herself at the centre of a debate about the power given to successful artists after she is accused of preying on and abusing young musicians.
Tár has been viewed as controversial by some due to the behaviour of its protagonist, with one real-life conductor accusing it of being “anti-woman”.
However, Blanchett has now argued that it is important to continue studying the works of artists and other historical figures, regardless of whether they might be deemed controversial or “problematic” today.

Shannon Elizabeth has explained why she warned people off watching American Pie before it was released.
The actor’s breakthrough role came in the teen comedy film, which became a sleeper hit upon its release in 1999.
At the time of being cast as Nadia in the film, Elizabeth only had a small number of credits to her name.
For the role, she was expected to do an accent considering Nadia’s character was from the Czech Republic.
However, after “working really hard with a dialect coach”, Elizabeth was left concerned when the sound team attempted to amend her accent once filming had been completed using Automated Dialogue Replacement (Adr).
Adr is usually implemented when directors feel they need additional dialogue to what was filmed, and is essentially added as a voiceover to the completed scene.

A representative shared that Hollis died peacefully in his home on Saturday, Feb. 11. An exact cause of death has not been determined but his family confirmed he had been hospitalized due to heart issues.
Hollis spent 17 years at Walt Disney Studios and helped the company break industry box office records, eventually rising as President of Worldwide Distribution. He exited the company in May 2018 to move to Texas and become CEO of Chic Media, a company established by his then-wife Rachel Hollis, the author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur.

Dave Hollis, a former Disney executive who served as the company’s president of worldwide distribution until resigning in 2018, died Saturday night at his home in Austin, Texas. He was 47 years old.
Hollis had been recently hospitalized for heart-related health issues, though no exact cause of death has been determined.
Hollis became Disney’s theatrical distribution chief in 2011, taking the reins from a retiring Chuck Viane. Hollis’ tenure coincided with several of the largest box office successes in the studio’s history, shepherding titles from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and Pixar, as well as live-action remakes of animated classics and new animated features.
The resounding achievements that came with Hollis’ leadership made his 2018 resignation from the company all the more surprising. Well-liked within the industry and an affable ambassador for Disney, Hollis left the studio (and California) to become CEO of Chic Media, a Texas-based production company founded by Hollis’ wife at the time,...

In the midst of some massive restructuring at Disney, Deadline has confirmed that Disney vet Tony Chambers has been upped to EVP of Theatrical Distribution. He’ll oversee both domestic and international film distribution as well as home entertainment. I understand that there’s even reassignments going on in the corporate communications and publicity departments as well in regards to which executives oversee certain areas of coverage.
He replaces Cathleen Taff who took over global distribution when Dave Hollis left in 2018. Taff is still with Disney as President of Production Services, Franchise Management and Multicultural Engagement. The new reorg which Disney underwent months ago, puts more of a focus on streaming with the distribution side figuring out the better route for a film’s release: theatrical or Disney+. Disney has already, due to the pandemic, sent big screen releases Soul, Mulan, Hamilton, among others to its news streaming service. However,...

In summer 2017, Dave Hollis — then president of domestic distribution for Walt Disney’s powerhouse film studio — found himself on a Hawaiian family vacation feeling morose, disengaged, resentful and drinking too much vodka.
He was in the midst of reading a galley of his wife’s new book, Girl, Wash Your Face, which would go on to become a runaway hit and solidify Rachel Hollis’ standing as a best-selling self-help author, motivational speaker and social influencer. The words were like a mirror — including how they were struggling in their sex life.

Quibi has ordered The Rachel Hollis Show, a daily morning talk show hosted by Hollis, motivational speaker and New York Times best-selling author of Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing, as part of the upcoming short-form video site’s Daily Essentials programming slate. The series hails from The Hollis Company’s 3% Chance Productions and Den of Thieves.
The daily talk show is described as “your one-stop-shop for a daily dose of motivation and joy, designed to make you laugh, make you think and frankly, to motivate the crap out of you.” The Rachel Hollis Show will run once daily, Monday through Friday, only on Quibi.
“I am so excited to partner with Quibi on this project that brings together all of the best parts of my work over the last decade,” said Rachel Hollis. “Our intention is to create something that serves our audience well and meets her where she’s at.

Even as CinemaCon begins under a cloud of streamer anxiety, event cinema is growing fast. In an effort to lure moviegoers to off-peak screens, some 60 theater chains have turned to six-year-old Fathom Events and it now ranks 12th among U.S. distributors. In 2018, Fathom released 164 titles across 277 event dates to more than 5.1 million people; 23 titles surpassed $1 million at the box office.
As the powerful theater chains fight to maintain the status quo in a drastically shifting environment, Fathom stands out in sharp contrast as a company that is rapidly learning and innovating, much like such disruptors as Netflix. That is what theaters need to do in order to adapt and survive.
Consider the January box office, which suffered its usual post-holiday doldrums. Not at Fathom, where January delivered a record $11-million month, spurred by disparate titles like “The Met: Live in HD: Carmen,” Pathé Live’s “Bts World Tour: Love Yourself in Seoul,...
