Joe Biden was joined by members of the Kennedy family in Philadelphia today to promote their endorsement of the president, a conspicuous rebuke of the independent bid of Robert Kennedy Jr.
Kerry Kennedy, Rfk Jr.’s sister, introduced Biden at the event, noting that “nearly every grandchild of Joe and Rose Kennedy supports Joe Biden. That’s right, the Kennedy family endorses Joe Biden for president.”
She was joined by 14 other relatives. They include siblings Rory, Joe, Chris, Max and Kathleen, as well as Joe Kennedy III, who serves as a special envoy to Northern Ireland.
Kerry Kennedy said that “in 2024 there are only two candidates with any chance of winning the presidency. We know that well.”
Rfk Jr.’s campaign could prove consequential to Biden’s prospects, especially if he is able to secure ballot access in key swing states and siphon votes way from the president’s reelection effort.

The centrist group No Labels is scrapping its plan to offer a third-party choice in the 2024 election after failing to recruit a credible presidential candidate to lead the ticket.

Robert Kennedy Jr. has selected attorney Nicole Shanahan, a contributor to his campaign, as his running made.
Kennedy, who is running an independent campaign for the presidency, made the announcement at an event in Oakland today. CNN and Fox News carried Kennedy’s reveal of his pick; MSNBC reported on it later.
After being introduced by his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, Kennedy told supporters that he wanted someone “I wanted someone with a spiritual dimension, and compassion, and idealism, and above all a deep love of the United States of America.” He said that Shanahan was also a “brilliant scientist, technologist, a fierce warrior mom.”
In her speech, Shanahan said that she didn’t know much about Kennedy as of a year ago, expect for a “mainstream media narrative that was telling me horrible, disparaging things.” She said that a friend recommended that she listen to an interview with him,...

President Joe Biden welcomed over 30 members of the Kennedy family to the White House for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Sunday. Notably, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has embarked on a third-party bid for the presidency, was absent from the event.
Kerry Kennedy, the sister of Rfk Jr., took to X to share a photograph of the Kennedy family gathered alongside Biden, with the picturesque Rose Garden as the backdrop.
Biden expressed what a joy the Kennedy family was to host at the White House. In a message posted on X, he conveyed heartfelt regards, “From one proud Irish family to another — it was good to have you all back at the White House.”
Joe Kennedy III, Biden’s envoy to Northern Ireland, also took to X to share his enthusiasm for the gathering. With a touch of familial camaraderie, he remarked, “Small family gathering this afternoon!”

A consultant for Robert Kennedy Jr.’s 2024 campaign registered the website for Kennedy and his potential vice presidential selection, New York Jets quarterback and fellow vaccine skeptic Aaron Rodgers, according to digital records reviewed by Rolling Stone.
Kennedy recently told The New York Times that Rodgers was on his shortlist for vice president — though he appeared to pop that trial balloon on Friday. “We have an extraordinary person, I can’t tell you who it is, but it’s not any of the people they’ve been talking about,” the candidate told supporters.

Robert Kennedy Jr. confirmed to The New York Times that NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura were on the top of his shortlist to serve as his running mate in his independent presidential bid.
Rodgers, who shares Kennedy’s opposition to the covid vaccine, would be an unconventional choice, to say the least, as he is still an active NFL player, expected to start for the New York Jets this fall.
Ventura, who served one term as Minnesota governor, has in the past considered his own independent presidential bid. Since leaving office, he has hosted a reality television series focused on conspiracy theories, but he urged people to get the vaccine during the covid crisis, and even bemoaned those who did not wear masks. He introduced Kennedy at a voter rally in Arizona last month.

Update: Robert Kennedy Jr. apologized to family members for a Super Bowl spot that mimicked an ad run by his uncle John F. Kennedy during his 1960 presidential run.

Kennedy did pin the ad to his X/Twitter account, where it remains.
Bobby Shriver, Kennedy’s cousin, objected to the spot, writing that his mother Eunice “would be appalled by his deadly health care views.” Mark Shriver wrote that he agreed with that sentiment against the ad, and Maria Shriver retweeted her brother’s objections.

Last October, White House hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a decision to switch parties in his presidential bid by exiting the Democratic party and running as a third-party Independent. The move was quickly denounced by members of his own family, including Oscar-nominated documentarian Rory Kennedy, who joined her siblings in posting a family statement.
“The decision of our brother Bobby to run as a third party candidate against Joe Biden is dangerous to our country. Bobby might share the same name as our father, but he does not share the same values, vision or judgment. Today’s announcement is deeply saddening for us. We denounce his candidacy and believe it to be perilous for our country,” read the Instagram post signed by Rory Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Joseph P. Uipdated with statement from Rfk Jr gala organizers: The arguably greatest fictional TV Potus ever is not endorsing the White House bid of Robert Kennedy Jr., and Martin Sheen sure as hell isn’t showing up as a warm prop at any Rfk Jr fundraiser anytime soon.
About a week ago, invites went out for a self-described “gala” on January 22 to celebrate the independent candidate’s 70th birthday. Sheen, Mike Tyson and Dionne Warwick were reported to be attending the event as “well-wishers.” On Thursday, some of President Jed Bartlet’s old West Wing staff have gone public to declare their old boss has no intention of attending.
In fact, via Bradley Whitford and Mary McCormack, Sheen says he remains an avowed supporter of incumbent Joe Biden, not Rfk Jr.

There was a moment in the past year when dozens of media and political reporters found themselves in the same room, sitting patiently for hours, essentially doing nothing but speculating about what was about to happen.
That’s generally a fraught scenario, but in this case, it was a bit fortuitous in that Delaware courtroom, waiting for proceedings to resume. At 4 p.m. that day in April, the judge announced that Fox had reached a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems just as a landmark defamation trial was about to begin. The revelations from the case — and the network’s $787.5 million payout — made for what was one of the biggest media business stories of the year.
The next year will be vastly different, what with a presidential election race in full swing, but it is also likely to be another 12 months of tumult in the industry. The decline in linear TV,...

Robert Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, had a close relationship with notorious convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Kennedy reportedly had access to Epstein’s Manhattan office in 1993 and even socialized with him at The Pierre Hotel.
Kennedy admitted to two past trips on Epstein’s private plane and claimed that one was to Florida and the other for a “fossil hunting” expedition in South Dakota.
He stated that he never traveled alone on Epstein’s jet and always accompanied his wife and children.
However, discrepancies have been found in Kennedy’s account when it is compared to the description of his relationship with Epstein provided by longtime family friend Christina Oxenberg.

Robert Kennedy Jr. said Monday that he will run for president next year as an independent, ending his bid for the Democratic nomination.

He said that in switching to an independent bid, he would “declare independence from the mercenary media that is here to fortify all of the corporate orthodoxies from their advertisers and to urge us to hate our neighbors and fear our friends.”
He bashed the two political parties and “the corrupt interests that dominate them and the entire corrupt system.” He was introduced by his wife, actress Cheryl Hines.
Kennedy originally sought the Democratic nomination against President Joe Biden, but instead had higher approval among Republicans. Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders may sit at different ends of the spectrum of Democratic politics, but the progressive senator from Vermont is already throwing his weight behind the incumbent’s 2024 reelection bid.
“The last thing this country needs is a Donald Trump or some other right-wing demagogue who is going to try to undermine American democracy or take away a woman’s right to choose, or not address the crisis of gun violence, or racism, sexism or homophobia,” Sanders said in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday.

President Joe Biden made the official announcement Tuesday that he is running for reelection.
The announcement came in a three-minute launch video.
“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we were in a battle for the soul of America. And we still are,” Biden says. “The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead, we have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or fewer. I know what I want the answer to be, and I think you do too. This is not a time to be complacent. That’s why I am running for reelection.”
The video, coming four years to the day when Biden announced his 2020 bid, opened with images of the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
Biden then appears on screen and says, “Freedom — personal freedom is fundamental who we are as Americans. That’s been my work of the first term.
