Sola Media has acquired worldwide sales rights to CGI animated film “Captain Sabertooth and the Countess of Gral,” the follow-up to “Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond,” which Sola Media sold to more than 160 countries.
Sola Media will present “Captain Sabertooth and the Countess of Gral” to buyers for the first time at the Cannes Film Market and will unveil first footage.
In the film, best friends Raven and Pinky serve under Captain Sabertooth, the feared pirate and King of the Seven Seas. When Sibylla, the cunning Countess of Gral, attacks their ship, she steals a prized figurehead and kidnaps Pinky – all part of her clever plan to trap Sabertooth and conquer the pirates’ homeland. Now, young deckhand Raven, along with Captain Sabertooth, a dragon and an eccentric cook must stop the Countess and rescue Pinky.

TrustNordisk is taking on international sales rights to 3D-animated family comedy Caterella, the first in a planned franchise called The Furry Tales.
TrustNordisk has signed a partnership with Norwegian producers Storm Films for the franchise concept, and will produce a new feature each year. The Furry Tales will reimagine classic stories from a fresh perspective, involving talking animals.

Norwegian singer Astrid S will play the title role in a modern-day remake of the 1973 Czech film. TV director and actress Cecilie Mosli (the TV series Thin Ice) is now shooting a new family film entitled Three Wishes for Cinderella. The project, a modern remake of the 1973 Czech feature of the same name directed by Václav Vorlíček, was penned by Kamilla Krogsveen and Karsten Fullu alongside writing duo Anna Bache-Wiig and Siv Rajendram Eliassen. Eskil Vogt’s new film The Innocents (De Uskyldige) is one of the projects backed by the Norwegian Film Institute’s latest funding round yesterday.
Vogt writes and directs the story about four children (ages 6 to 12), away from their parents’ attention, whose innocent play turns into something else. The filmmaking team wrote, “Magic and creepy things start happening. The Innocents is a film for adults and a shocking journey in to the secret world of the children.”

Exclusive: Maipo Film is now readying the third film in the animated Louis & Nolan franchise, Louis & Nolan: Mission To The Moon.
The film is now in production for release in 2018. Rasmus A Sivertsen again directs from a screenplay by Karsten Fullu. Cornelia Boysen and Synnove Horsdal produce, and the co-producers are Qvisten Animation and The Kari and Kjell Aukrust Foundation. The plot will see the titular hedgehog and magpie try to save the moon from commercialization. Sola Media will again handle sales.
The second film in the puppet animation trilogy, Louis & Nolan: The Big Cheese Race, is competing in the Generation Kplus section here after already becoming a box-office hit at home in Norway.
