The Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica, met its end far too soon despite being a very well-made show. For one reason or another, fans of BSG simply decided not to follow the show as religiously, leading to its untimely fate.
As we were waiting to hear the fate of Caprica from the executives at Syfy, they announced the plans for another spinoff series called Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. The show was to be another prequel, set in between the storylines of BSG and Caprica when William Adama was still a young pilot. We saw a glimpse of this younger Adama in the direct-to-dvd movie (which they should make more of immediately -- we miss the real cast), Razor, and fans wondered if the actor that played the youthful future Admiral, Nico Cortez, would be returning for Blood and Chrome. Now we have that answer.

Trying to find a nationality for William Adama is hard. Yes, we know he's Caprican with some Tauron ancestry, but the once Latino actor is now being played by a ... Sicilian? Luke Pasqualino has been tapped by Syfy as the star of its new backdoor pilot, "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome." He will play a young William Adama, a young fighter pilot who will later lead a ragtag fleet to Earth. The move was a surprise to some, but not to all. Rumors had circulated the past couple weeks that Nico Cortez, the actor who played Adama in a similar time period in "Battlestar Galactica: Razor," had been passed over for the role. As early as Monday, Airlock Alpha's Twitter feed suggested that Cortez was not going to get the role. There had been some speculation Syfy would go with a more ...

Fans are still rooting for Nico Cortez to reprise his role as a young William Adama in the upcoming "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome" pilot. No one knows if he'll get the role, as that decision is up to Syfy, but word is out now on exactly what kind of characters executive producer David Eick is looking for. Adama is planned as a Tom Cruise-like character -- not jumping on Oprah's couch Tom Cruise, but more the "Top Gun" Tom Cruise -- who is a bit battle weary in Year 10 of the first Cylon war, according to TV Guide. Adama -- who would go on to command the Battlestar Galactica in "Battlestar Galactica" right now is just a rookie pilot, similar to Cortez's version of Adama in the BSG telemovie "Razor." The Adama character really needs to explanation, no matter what the timeline ...

Fans are starting their push to "Draft Nico," but actor Nico Cortez said he's ready and willing to reprise his role as a young William Adama in the new "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff series "Blood & Chrome." Casting for "Blood & Chrome," which was upgraded from a web series to a full-fledged television show just ahead of the cancellation of another BSG spinoff, "Caprica," has yet to start. But when it does, Cortez hopes Syfy's head of original programming Mark Stern remembers him as Adama in the flashback scenes of "Battlestar Galactica: Razor" and cast him as the lead in the new series. "What I discovered in doing 'Razor,' to my surprise, is that this character, I slipped right into it," Cortez said during an extensive interview that will air Nov. 11 on Alpha Waves Radio. "I can't ...

Battlestar Galactica fans can never get enough of BSG spinoffs! The latest news is a new online series entitled “Blood & Chrome” following young William “Husker” Adama during the first Cylon war. In this new prequel series, we will see young Adama’s “initiation into war: both the realities of war as fought by soldiers on the ground and the somewhat less real version portrayed in the media.”
Michael Taylor, BSG and Caprica’s co-executive producer, will be penning the script. Blood & Chrome will have a total of nine or ten episodes of about ten minutes running time each. It will be filmed with a green screen background and employ virtual sets much like SyFy’s Sanctuary as many of the Galactica sets were scanned in three-dimensionally. Taylor remarks on the possibility of a 3-D set:
“I’ve seen the virtual, 3D version of Cic ['Battlestar's' Combat Information Center] and it’s pretty damn cool.

SyFy is reportedly planning a new spinoff from sci-drama Battlestar Galactica. According to The Chicago Tribune, the new series - titled Blood & Chrome - will consist of around ten episodes of roughly ten minutes each, and will be released exclusively online. Executive producer Michael Taylor explained: "It's a story that will take us to new corners of the Battlestar world... and yet it aims to be a very contemporary war movie in a lot of ways. I would say I'm thinking as much of... the reality of The Hurt Locker, Sebastian Junger's Restrepo and similar movies, as I am about about the largely implied past of Battlestar." The show will follow the story of a young William Adama, played in the original programme by Edward James Olmos. Actor Nico Cortez (more)...

The finale of Syfy's flagship military science fiction television series, Battlestar Galactica, aired March 24, 2009. In December 2009, the Paley Center for Media screened the premiere of Caprica - a BSG spin-off series that serves as a prequel to its predecessor. At the event, Tubefilter's Drew Baldwin spoke with BSG creator and exectuive producer, David Eick and asked whether we can expect to see a Caprica web series. Eick's response? "It's a possibility." Today we learned it's much closer to reality. According to Marueen Ryan, an online BSG series dubbed Blood & Chrome is in the works. Written by BSG and Caprica co-executive producer, Michael Taylor, the show will revolve around the experiences of a young William Adama during the first Cylon War. In the words of Taylor, B&C is "about a young man's initiation into war: both the realities of war as fought by soldiers on the ground (and in Battlestars...
