I was born on a cattle ranch in Kansas. I spent half my life in a
saddle. I rodeoed for 13 years. It doesn't bother me to wake up next to
horse heads.
The thing that's in great surplus in Hollywood is money. The thing
that's in short supply are outstanding stories, great literature. At
the end of the day, it's great work that is rare and valuable and
significant. Not money.
I write out of calling, I produce out of necessity, I direct out of self defense. And I sing because I can't dance.
