Ready for another deliciously outré performance from Lars Eidinger, everybody’s favorite German arthouse weirdo (known for his work in Personal Shopper, Clouds of Sils Maria, White Noise, and on and on)? Well, strap in for Sterben (Dying) from German director Matthias Glasner.
In the exclusive first trailer from The Match Factory (see below), Eidinger plays Tom, a Berlin conductor with more than a few personal issues to deal with.
Dying is a rare new feature from Glasner who, unlike his prolific star, has kept his filmography tight. (His last feature was 2012’s Gnade.) Judging by the trailer, and Glasner’s previous work, including 2006 Silver Bear winner The Free Will, Dying looks like another powerful mix of melodrama, wry humor and philosophical ponderings about the “big questions” of life and, given the title, of death.
“The name of the piece… is ‘Dying’,” a high-strung composer, played by Robert Gwisdek, instructs the orchestra.

Dwayne Johnson has come a long way from his days as a debuting wrestler. But at first, becoming a wrestler didn’t seem like the occupation that would serve Johnson well in the long run. That was especially true when his family briefly lived a similar lifestyle as Mickey Rourke’s character in The Wrestler.
How Dwayne Johnson’s family life mirrored ‘The Wrestler’ Dwayne Johnson | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Johnson has famously told the story about how his initial goal was to play for the NFL, but he wasn’t as fortunate as other inspiring football players. Eventually, he thought it best to put his football aspirations to rest. His next goal was to follow in the footsteps of his father, Rocky Johnson, by becoming a wrestler. But it was a decision his father was adamantly against at the time.

In Cyberpunk 2077, Iconic weapons are some of the strongest items you can acquire as you make your way up Night City’s criminal underbelly. These firearms, swords, and clubs are more powerful than most other items and usually sport unique perks that set them apart even further. Since Phantom Liberty introduces a brand new area to explore, complete with more missions, this Dlc also packs quite a few new Iconic weapons.
Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG that lets players decide how to approach different challenges with unique character builds, so not every iconic weapon will gel with every player. Some gamers will gravitate towards an assault rifle that makes enemies explode into pools of acid, others will find themselves drawn to a machete that lights opponents on fire. Several players might even find themselves swinging around a mundane crowbar because it’s a Half-Life reference. Still, almost every new...

Starz’s Heels season two episode three is titled “Discord,” but a more appropriate title would be “Redemption.” Jack sees the light and realizes he’s his own worst enemy, while Ace has a creepy nightmare visit from his dead dad that sets him back on the path to Duffy.
We kick off episode three with a brief flashback to a young Jack getting a whipping from his mom for snatching a piece of cake. Apparently, the incident left a lasting impression and was just one example of the abuse he suffered at her hands.
Flash-forward to current events, and Jack (Stephen Amell) pays a brief visit to his mom’s house to grab her phone and to announce that he’s concluded that if he and Ace kill each other, it’ll be all her fault.

Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch Season 19 continues on, and fans are invested in Captain “Wild” Bill Wichrowski. Wichrowski joined the show in 2010 for season 6, and that’s also when his son, Zach Larson, joined the show. Unfortunately, it seems Wichrowski and Larson didn’t have a great relationship. Here’s what we know.

Deadliest Catch Season 19 fans are missing Zach Larson, and they may recall his relationship with his famous father, Captain “Wild” Bill Wichrowski. Larson and Wichrowski had a difficult father-son relationship. Wichrowski has three kids, and Larson was from a previous marriage (he took his mother’s last name). Reports suggest Wichrowski stepped out of his son’s life when Larson was young, causing a rift. Larson joined his father in 2008 to catch crabs together for the first time.

Charles Barkley has the uncanny talent of making double entendres without realizing it, and he did it again this week when he was challenged to do his best Boston accent on “NBA on TNT.”
Barkley was at the Td Garden, home of the Boston Celtics, following Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. Along with fellow analysts Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith, Barkley tried his best attempt at a Boston accent by reading the phrase, “Saw Ernie at Fenway Park eating chowder on top of the Monster.”
After his expectedly terrible attempt, Barkley noted to host Ernie Johnson that he had never been to a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway and always wanted to sit on top of the Green Monster, the famous left field wall.

Henry Selick, whose last feature was 2009’s masterpiece “Coraline,” is back at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival with “Wendell & Wild.” It’s a delightful return to form for the man who put stop-motion back on the map, and a charmingly devious collaboration with comedy duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, reunited after their groundbreaking comedy series ended Tk.
After watching her parents die in a tragic car accident, troubled teen Kat (Lyric Ross) spent her adolescence shunted from juvy home to juvy home, getting in trouble, and hating the world. When she returns to her childhood hometown of Rust Bank to join a local Catholic school’s teen rehabilitation program, she finds a ghost town where there was once a thriving community. Wealthy bureaucrats have overrun the town and now hope to bulldoze the last of the community’s resources to build a private prison.

Too many years might have passed since Henry Selick last graced the animation world with one of his unique stop-motion creations (2009’s Coraline to be exact), but he returns with a fresh, highly original concoction of playful Grand Guignol proportions in the form of Wendell & Wild.
A happy collaboration with Jordan Peele, who unmistakably adds his own personal creative stamp, the horror satire is nevertheless right up Selick’s nightmare alley, complete with demon siblings, reanimated cadavers and penguin nuns, all wrapped up in a subversive punk rock sensibility. While it would obviously never be mistaken for gentler Pixar fare, the Netflix title (it’s scheduled to land on the streamer Oct. 28, a week after a theatrical bow) packs an all-ages appeal, based on the roar of approval that greeted its TIFF world premiere screening.
