After the Disney annual shareholder meeting, Bob Iger went on a victory tour with some interviews. During the Q&a and proposal segments of the shareholder meeting, the same message came up a couple of times about Disney’s political leanings and messaging choices in entertainment. Then, on CNBC, an interview question about Disney being “woke” was brought up.
Here’s how Bob Iger responded:
..the term woke is thrown around rather liberally, no pun intended in that regard. I think a lot of people don’t even understand really what it means.”
According to Merriam-Webster, the term “woke” means to be “aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)”
Dictionary.com defines “woke” as “having or marked by an active awareness of systemic injustices and prejudices, especially those involving the treatment of ethnic, racial, or sexual minorities.”

"Oh, they've encased him in carbonite. He should be quite well protected, if he survived the freezing process, that is," quips C-3Po after Han Solo (Harrison Ford) is frozen alive in a slab of carbonite in "The Empire Strikes Back." It is a memorable scene, as it is preceded by Leia's (Carrie Fisher) declaration of love for Han, to which he replies with the characteristically suave, brilliantly ad-libbed "I know." The frozen Han is eventually handed over to Jabba the Hutt, whose lair is later infiltrated by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and gang to rescue their friend from his frozen state in "Return of the Jedi."
This is not the only instance of a person being carbon-frozen in the "Star Wars" universe. Although the process was widely used to encase and preserve transport materials (such as gaseous substances), it was often utilized to transfer sentient beings. Even Anakin Skywalker...

What makes a great movie kiss?
In the cinematic world as in real life, chemistry is a must to achieve that perfect lip lock. However, in cinema a little bit of music, some filtered lighting and a good location can add to the perfect mood. Oh, and waves crashing over the sand or a thunderstorm raging about can definitely add to the passion.
There have been thousands of kisses throughout film history, in every genre. Movies kisses have shocked us, inspired us, moved us, made us laugh, made us cry. Which ones are the most memorable?
Sometimes film kisses have made history, challenging conventionality. Sometimes they have been so memorable the image has become an indelible part of our pop culture history. And there are even times they are the only memorable part of the film.

This article contains major spoilers for "Rebel Moon."
Zack Snyder has never been a sentimental filmmaker. He's taken plenty of criticisms for being "edgy" or "ruthless" over the years, especially after movies with high kill counts like "300," "Man of Steel," and even "Army of the Dead." So when he began work on "Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire" (you can read my review for /Film here) and it became clear that he would be focusing on yet another ensemble cast in the midst of a war, everyone should've braced themselves for the likelihood that at least some of these heroes wouldn't make it out alive. True to form, that's exactly what happens by the end of the gritty, hyper-stylized film.
Sofia Boutella's humble leader Kora and her ragtag group of mercenaries, bounty hunters, fugitives, and other unsavory outcasts emerge victorious over the fearsome might of the Imperium...

Wolverine #34 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artist: Juan Jose Ryp | Colourist: Frank D’Armata | Letters: Cory Petit
Benjamin Percy and co. are really putting it all on the table with this story arc. This issue delivers across the board from cover to cover and we aren’t even into ‘Fall of X’ yet! Percy has a lot more Wolverine on the horizon, guiding this series and X-Force through the upcoming event and out the other side. He also has a Ghost Rider crossover coming up and the recently announced Predator/Wolverine mini-series. I’m here for it all and having enjoyed nearly all of his output so far I am not expecting any drop-off in quality. The last issue left us on an all-action cliffhanger and no time is wasted on throwing the reader into the thick of the action mere moments after last month’s final panel. The Idol wrapped up its (truncated) five-episode freshman run on Sunday — and Jocelyn’s season of idol worship might just be over.
As the season finale opens, Jocelyn is recording her new track “Tough Love” with Tedros’ hand-picked producer Mike Dean, with charming lyrics like “Hold me and choke me until I pass out.” The song is coming together, but when Tedros tries to get involved, she abruptly turns on him: “You’ve served your purpose.” Jocelyn laughs to her friends that her first meeting with Tedros was a total set-up by her former backup dancer Dyanne, calling him “a...

That ’90s Show is new to Netflix. But the streamer already renewed it for a second season. The popular show, a sequel to That ’70s Show, offers up a lot for fans both old and new, including both original and established characters, lots of humor, and smart pop culture references. While That ’90s Show focuses primarily on the young cast members, there are plenty of appearances from legacy characters from That ’70s Show — and as those who worked on the TV series have revealed, there were plenty of interactions between the stars. Still, one guest star in particular really made an impression on the young cast members, leaving them truly starstruck.
‘That ’90s Show’ introduced a new young cast (L to R) Sam Morelos as Nikki, Mace Coronel as Jay, Ashley Aufderheide as Gwen Runck, Callie Haverda as Leia Forman, Maxwell Acee Donovan as Nate, Reyn Doi as Ozzie in episode 101 of That ’90s Show.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher met on the set of That ’70s Show in 1998 at 14 and 20, respectively. However, it wouldn’t be until 2012 that Kutcher and Kunis started dating, tying the knot in 2015. The couple has been together since then, and their That ‘70s Show costar Debra Jo Rupp thinks their relationship is a “gift from the gods.”

There it is. Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Episode 1 trumpets the final adventure for Jean-Luc Picard and his band of merry spacefarers, and it's fanfare unlike anything we've seen before.
The premiere serves a dual purpose. It must provide some continuity to the previous two seasons, but its Prime Directive is to reward fans with the eagerly awaited reunion of the Enterprise-d crew.
While we haven't gotten the whole band together yet, it's safe to say we're well on our way, and the promise of a new and exciting adventure into the unknown is intriguing and delightful.
Let's first consider Dr. Beverly Crusher.
We learn later that she's been incommunicado for over twenty years and that she and Picard parted on unsatisfactory terms.
But the good doctor first roars back onto our screen, responding to an enemy attack with ruthless efficiency and determination.
We know nothing about the masked alien assailants,...

Life is full of surprises, curveballs, and moments of serendipity. Fate may play a part in the lives of the Jedi in the "Star Wars" galaxy, but in the real world, it may have intervened in the life of an actor who played a key role in the Rebellion. Actor Warwick Davis, now famous for playing the affable Ewok Wicket in 1983's "Return of the Jedi," has become a quintessential part of George Lucas' sci-fi fantasy empire. As a beacon for the franchise, Davis is arguably the most beloved performer outside of the holy trinity of Luke, Leia, and Han. Always a staple at the fan convention Star Wars Celebration, it's nearly impossible to picture an alternate reality in which Davis was never a part of the vast canon of "Star Wars."
Although it seems meant to be now, Davis could easily have missed his chance to co-star in "Return of the Jedi,...

"The Transformers: The Movie" exists in the shadow of "Star Wars." The young Autobot Hot Rod's ascension to Rodimus Prime parallels Luke Skywalker becoming a Jedi, Arcee's head is modeled after Leia's bun hairstyle, and the film's Orson Welles-voiced villain, Unicron, is a mechanical planet that eats other planets — it's like the Death Star, but if it were a Transformer.
"Star Wars" didn't become the media franchise of the world because of its box office haul, but largely because of merchandise sales. Toy companies made a killing on "Star Wars" action figures, among them Hasbro, owner of "Transformers." Partly thanks to "Star Wars," movies and TV shows began to be designed to include characters and vehicles that could be turned into toys. "The Transformers" and its sister show, "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero," were the epitome of this -- they were literal toy commercials disguised as cartoons,...

Han Solo is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise. When he was trapped in carbonite at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, fans couldn’t wait to see what came next. Did you know the real reason why George Lucas decided to freeze Han Solo?
The dramatic ending to ‘The Empire Strikes Back’
The Empire Strikes Back came out in 1980. In the second movie of the original Star Wars trilogy, things look hopeless for the trio of main characters: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia.
Han, played by Harrison Ford, and Leia are captured by Darth Vader in an attempt to lure Luke into a trap. Vader then freezes Han in carbonite as a test to see if Luke could be imprisoned in the same fashion. Han is successfully frozen and given to the bounty hunter Boba Fett, who in turn hands the...

If one were to read George Lucas' original 1974 script draft for "Star Wars: A New Hope," entitled "The Star Wars," without any context, one would be forgiven for assuming they had stumbled upon the script for a weird, bootlegged ripoff of Lucas' 1977 classic. The script speaks of "Jedi Bendu," referring to them as "the most feared warriors in the universe," and features an 18-year-old boy named Annikin Starkiller. Other key characters include the "large," grizzled General Luke Skywalker and a "huge," green-skinned non-human named Han Solo.
Major elements of "The Star Wars" would be dropped entirely in later drafts, with many of them eventually being re-imagined for future "Star Wars" projects. "Bendu," for example, is the name of the mystical entity that exists between the light and dark sides of the Force in the animated series "Star Wars Rebels." By the time he got to his fourth script draft, entitled...

Hello Wisconsin! It’s official, a new generation of ’90s kids have made their way to Red and Kitty Forman’s basement. Netflix released the That ’70s Show spinoff called That ’90s Show on January 19, 2023. While Og fans were ecstatic to see Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) Forman, and some of the original gang back on their screens, fans of That ’70s Show also have some questions about the timeline in That ’90s Show. Debra Jo Rupp had to believe in the project before she would help Netflix bring audiences back to Point Place, Wisconsin for a revival of That ’70s Show. Ultimately it took some familiar faces and a clever spin on the original material to bring Rupp on board for That ’90s Show.

That '90s Show premiered in January, and it was filled with nostalgia.
The sequel to That '70s Show featured plenty of original stars, filling fans in on what happened to them after the 2006 series finale.
Ashton Kutcher, who played Kelso, revealed in an interview with Esquire magazine that he did not have a say in whether he would be returning.
Kutcher's wife, Mila Kunis, said they would both return for the sequel, even if the script came in lower than their expectations.
"[She] goes, 'You know, we owe our entire careers to this show. It doesn't matter what the script is, we're doing it,'" Kutcher recalled.
Kutcher and Kunis's characters are married in That '90s Show, which Kunis was not fond of.
In a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood, the actress shared her thoughts on the matter.

Ashton Kutcher says his wife and former co-star Mila Kunis refused to let him turn down That ‘70s show’s spinoff series, That ‘90s Show.
The new Netflix series, which premiered last month, was co-developed by That ’70s Show creators Bonnie Turner, Terry Turner and Mark Brazill, and Lindsey Turner.
It is set in Wisconsin and follows Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of That ‘70s Show characters Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon).
Kutcher, 44, told Esquire that when the pitch first came in for the duo to reprise their respective roles as Kelso and Jackie, Kunis told him: “You know, we owe our entire careers to this show. It doesn’t matter what the script is, we’re doing it.”

In a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood, Kunis revealed that she disagreed with the showrunners’ decision to have them end up together.

“Hello, Wisconsin!” A new group of kids are hanging out in Red Foreman‘s basement, and although almost two decades have passed, they still find a way to sit in a circle and smoke away their troubles.

"Return of the Jedi" turns 40 this year, believe it or not, marking the last of the original trilogy to officially enter into the mid-life crisis age. Instead of buying a sports car, getting a single ear piercing, or hyper-fixating on working out, "Return of the Jedi" is instead celebrating this milestone with ... wait for it ... a ton of toys! As revealed during the Hasbro Pulse livestream, these toys range from the highly collectible Black Series figures to wearable prop replica helmets to Funko Pops.
During this livestream, we got our first look at the toys that will be available through normal retail as well as a spiffy Darth Vader that will only be available as a convention exclusive. When it came time to reprising Kelso in Netflix’s “That ’70s Show” sequel series “That ’90s Show,” Ashton Kutcher did not have a choice. Almost all of the original cast returns in That ’90s Show except for Danny Masterson, who played Steven Hyde. Topher Grace and Laura Prepon play Leia’s (Callie Haverda) parents in the Netflix spinoff. Plus, Wilmer Valderrama, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Tommy Chong, Don Stark, Jim Rash, and Kurtwood Smith also appear in That ’90s Show.
Naturally, many fans are curious about Masterson’s character — what is Hyde up to in the That ’90s Show universe? Debra Jo Rupp has some thoughts.

Debra Jo Rupp is widely known for playing Kitty Forman on That ‘70s Show, the cheerful doting wife of Red Forman (Kurtwood Smith) and mom to Eric Forman (Topher Grace).
Kitty and Red are both back in the newly released reboot, That ‘90s Show, this time playing grandparents to new characters.

That 70s Show was that show from the 90s about the 70s. The series ran on Fox from 1998-2006. It centered around a group of teenage friends from small-town Point Place, Wisconsin.
The hangout for the teens was the Formans’ basement where they ate junk food and watched TV. In every episode, they sat in a circle, where it was insinuated, but never said, that they were smoking weed.

After its Jan. 19 premiere, “That ’90s Show” has debuted on Netflix’s Top 10 list at No. 5. In its first four days of availability on the streamer, the series picked up 41.08 million hours viewed – a slow start given the popularity of the original series, “That ’70s Show.” Though, that number could expect to pick up in the coming weeks.
The rebooted comedy reunites Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith as Kitty and Red Forman welcome a new generation of teenagers into their basement when their granddaughter Leia (Callie Haverda) decides to spend her summer in Wisconsin.
As for “Ginny & Georgia,” Season 2 of the drama continues to lead the English-language TV chart for the week of Jan. 16-22 with 87.4 million hours viewed. In the previous week, the second installment was watched for 162.72 million hours. Created by Sarah Lampert, the series quickly jumped into the Top 10 in 88 countries following its Jan. 5 Season 2 premiere.

That ’90s Show, a spin-off of the popular throwback sitcom That ’70s Show, made its debut on Netflix last week – but fans have one big complaint.
Starring Callie Haverda, Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, the series is set 15 years after That ’70s Show, and sees some of the original cast return to make cameos.
That ’70s Show originally aired on Fox between 1998 and 2006. The series experienced a resurgence in popularity in the 2010s after it was made available to stream in its entirety on Netflix.
However, the series was removed from Netflix’s catalogue in 2020 – a move that has drawn the ire of fans after the streaming service released its sequel.
“Why would Netflix produce That 90s Show but not have That 70s Show available,” one person wrote. “That’s so stupid.”
“Wait… lmao you’re telling me Netflix doesn’t have That 70s Show on their platform while airing That 90s Show?...

The teens of "That '90s Show" may hang out in the same basement where the "That '70s Show" crew spent many a summer night in a smoky circle, but they're definitely forging their own paths. “That ’90s Show” actress Ashley Aufderheide got some great advice from one member of the original “That ’70s Show” cast.
Aufderheide, who plays Gwen Runck in the much-talked about spinoff, told People, “I talked to Wilmer [Valderrama] a lot. He gave a lot of advice, but almost all of the legacy cast was very helpful in giving advice.”
The 17-year-old explained how Valderrama, 42, told her, “I just need to stay authentic to who I am. That’s what [Valderrama and the cast] said, just like, ‘You’re going to be funny if you just do what you want to do, and be as real as possible.’ Then that’s how you emulate the chemistry, and how to be the best that you can be.”

With almost 20 years since the last episode of “That 70’s Show” aired, Netflix has revived this instant classic from the dead. “That ’90’s Show,” streaming on Netflix, pays homage to the original – delivering a fresh yet nostalgic spin-off, where original fans will find something to like.
All of the same actors and characters have returned for the spinoff and deliver the same brand of warm-hearted, light humor that we once came to love. This is nothing short of a miracle, with even cast members themselves doubting the producers could make it happen, with Topher Grace stating in an interview – “It would be so hard to bring that crew together. For me, I’d do it if no one ever saw it. Just ’cause it would be great to hang out with them for a week or something.”

Callie Haverda, the Austin-hailing 15-year-old ushering in a “new wave of kids” in Netflix’s “That ‘70s Show” spinoff, had previously turned down auditions for series filmed in front of live audiences. So one can imagine her surprise when she noticed the viewer bleachers after she had booked the lead role of Leia Forman, her first major starring part.
“I was always so terrified of [live audiences] for no reason because it was something that I’d never done. I was unsure of how it would end up being, and I didn’t know that ’90s’ was going to be filmed in front of a live studio audience. The original "Star Wars" has one of the most unforgettable opening scenes in movie history, as the 20th Century Fox fanfare and opening crawl give way to the sight of a massive Imperial Star Destroyer, gliding in at the top of the frame in pursuit of a Rebel blockade runner. The two spaceships shoot each other with lasers, and from there, it cuts to droid and fleet trooper activity on the Rebel ship. It's not long before a boarding party of Stormtroopers takes the ship, with Darth Vader himself bringing up the rear. He soon comes face to face with Princess Leia, and the rest is history.
The prequel "Rogue One" went to great lengths to recreate the moments leading up to the opening scene of "Star Wars," but while fans may view it as sacrosanct now, that wasn't always the case with Fox. Like many movies, "Star Wars" (now...

Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith aren't all that nostalgic for the past. The pair, who play Eric Forman's parents, Red and Kitty, on "That '70s Show," reprise their roles on "That '90s Show," which premiered on Netflix on Jan. 19. But according to the pair, they say that not too much has changed since it all began.
To start, Rupp and Smith look pretty much the same as they did in the original, which actually premiered in the '90s - 1998, to be exact. So does the classic "'70s" set - minus a few owls. In the original, "Kitty had 4,000 owls in the kitchen. I don't know why," Rupp tells Popsugar. "No one could ever answer that question for me. Maybe they needed to fill space, I don't know. But there were little owls everywhere, and they were creepy, freaky looking owls."
On the new set, the owls are gone.

But there were little owls everywhere, and they were creepy, freaky looking owls."
On the new set, the owls are gone.

Watching “That ‘90s Show,” you can almost see every disastrous pathway the show didn’t take. There’s a version of this spinoff that’s centered on the original cast or transposed to a different city or steeped so much in ‘90s references that it chokes off every punchline before it has a chance to survive.
It’s not a perfect show, but “That ‘90s Show” does make one very smart decision throughout this first 10-episode season: It doesn’t lean on cameos. Yes, the show opens with Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon) and Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) in the old Foreman kitchen. Sure, Jackie (Mila Kunis) and Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) drop by for the one-scene shouting match. Rather than dangle those as the engine “That ‘90s Show” needs to keep going, it’s an efficient way to acknowledge the past before building the future.

To fans of "Star Wars," Carrie Fisher will always be Princess Leia Organa, the role that remains her most iconic. And why shouldn't it be? Fisher introduced Leia in the 1977 sci-fi blockbuster, reprised her in two sequels, and then reintroduced her in a new batch of "Star Wars" films nearly four decades later. A true Hollywood scion (Fisher's parents were famed singer Eddie Fisher and legendary movie star Debbie Reynolds), Fisher pulled off the rare feat of carving out her own niche as an actor, stepping out from the considerable shadows of her famous folks. In fact, Leia was far from Fisher's only role, simply her best-known from a unique and eclectic career that spanned from her 1969 screen debut -- playing a Girl Scout in one of her mom's TV specials -- until her death in 2016 at the age of 60.

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers for “That ’90s Show” Season 1.
While all major players from “That ’70s Show” reunite in some form or another on Netflix’s spinoff series, “That ’90s Show,” there is one notable omission — that of Danny Masterson’s Hyde (first name Steven), the original Fox sitcom’s resident troublemaker and burnout.
The sequel series follows a new cast of basement dwellers, much to the chagrin of Red (Kurtwood Smith) and delight of Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp). “That ’90s Show” centers on Leia Forman — daughter to Eric and Donna — as she stays with her grandparents in Point Place during the summer. Additionally, Mila Kunis’ Jackie and Ashton Kutcher’s Kelso make guest appearances in the first episode, ahead of their on-and-off-again characters’ second remarriage. Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) also shows up, with a new romantic arc on the show and a thriving hair salon business. Donna’s father,...

There’s a moment early on in first season of Netflix’s “That ’90s Show,” after Eric (Topher Grace), Donna (Laura Prepon), Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Jackie (Mila Kunis) have finished making their required cameos, when it feels like it’s clear that this sequel series couldn’t possibly live up to the first iteration. The teens are as awkward as their jokes, the lack of parents is baffling, and the ’90s references are all over the place, and you might see where I’m going with this — “That ’90s Show” is the “That ’70s Show” of the 2010s, even though it’s 2023, and while that sentence might be a confusing mess, the show is a lot less of a mess than it could have been. It’s both bad and good in all the right ways, and deserves more of a chance than you might want to give it...

Plot: Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995, and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs, and rock ’n roll never die; it changes clothes.
Review: One of Fox’s most popular sitcoms, That ’70s Show, ran for eight seasons and 200 episodes in the early 2000s. The series’ distinct sense of humor, famous main cast, and retro references made it a hit when it premiered in 1998 and made stars out of Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderamma, Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis. Almost two decades after it went off the air, Netflix had revived the series for another retro look back, this time set just three years before the original series premiered. Let me save you some time: If you’re old enough to actually remember the ’90s, then That ’90s Show probably isn’t for you. Netflix is trying to recapture the retro magic of That ’70s Show with an all-new reboot — they’re calling it a “sequel series,” but really, it’s a reboot — with suburban parents Red and Kitty Forman enduring a new generation of unruly teens. But That ’90s Show (debuting today; I’ve seen the first three episodes) is an uninspired buzzkill: half tired nostalgia tour and half mediocre retread.

This That ’90s Show review contains no spoilers.
Reboots of old shows are all the rage right now. Whether it’s a revival with the same cast members returning or a spinoff set in the same universe as a previous hit show, it seems the television industry is dead set on giving audiences a dose of the same medicine from the past. This is a dangerous trend for those who want a little more creativity on our screens, but it’s also comforting to see characters and actors from our childhoods, especially in a time with so much economic and health turmoil following Covid-19.
The latest in a long line of these modern takes on classics is That ‘90s Show. Using the same setting and bringing back various characters from the hit Fox sitcom That ‘70s Show, Netflix is hopeful that fans of the original era-specific comedy series will still...

That ’90s Show is a sitcom series created by Gregg Mettler, Bonnie Turner, Terry Turnery and Lindsey Turner. It stars Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp.
That ’90s Show arrives with all of the nuances of the sitcoms of the 90, with canned laughter that we all liked so much then and which seem so old now.
These shows were the milestones of an era and Netflix offers us the chance to remember them with this series, which bottled and sent to the desert island of streaming, reaches us with an aged flavor and, most likely for many, out of fashion now.
Retro, demodé, That ’90 Show is a sitcom that rescues the two previous series that were broadcast by Fox with great audience success and which we now see with the flavor of those times in which… cell phones didn´t exist.
What a long time ago it seems to us today.
