Mackenzie can't catch a break.
First, her husband dies at a tragically young age soon after marriage. Then, her fear and reluctance cause her to lose Haz romantically just as she's ready to start dating again.
And now, according to Neighbours spoilers for the week of 10-23-23, Mackenzie will face yet another devastating loss.
Heartbreak and devastation are standard soap opera tropes. Allowing Mackenzie to go through the same painful situations as everyone else rather than focusing solely on her gender identity is the best transgender representation.
Still, it's as devastating for fans as it is for her when she has one failure after another in the romance department. She got stood up just before she met too-good-to-be-true Ed, and it sucks for her that he'll turn out to be Holly's violent, no-good ex-boyfriend.
Ed's acting like the nicest, sweetest guy is a realistic portrayal of how domestic abusers target victims.

Andre Chase and Duke Hudson won the first-ever Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal by outlasting nine other teams to punch their ticket to Halloween Havoc for an opportunity to win the Nxt Tag Team Titles. Galaxy Quest has landed at Paramount+, which is developing a series adaptation of the 1999 film, our sister site Variety reports. The movie starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell, Justin Long, Tony Shalhoub and Enrico Colantoni, among others.
Paramount+ is the most recent streaming service to attempt to bring the cult film to TV. Amazon Studios tried to turn the movie into a series with the original cast in 2015, but Rickman’s death halted the project. It was then revived in August 2017 with writer and comedian Paul Scheer (The League) coming on board to pen the script, but it,...

The long-awaited revival of Neighbours is adding an O.C. alum to its ranks.
News broke this week that Mischa Barton had landed a guest role in Freevee's first season of the Australian soap as Reece, described as "an American new to Erinsborough who's not quite who she appears to be."
Neighbours was initially canceled in Australia after a longtime production partner decided against renewal in favor of more homegrown content.
Despite a much-publicized series finale that brought the likes of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan back after years away, Amazon announced its Freevee platform would pick up the show in November.
"With Neighbours launching on Amazon Freevee in North America, we are beyond excited to have an actor of Mischa's caliber join us for the beginning of this exciting new chapter," said Jason Herbison, executive producer of Neighbours.
"Mischa's character is dynamic and unpredictable, and will have an instant presence on Ramsay Street.

Having already been brought back from the dead, Australian soap Neighbours has now added a star name from another sun-soaked TV hit to its cast.
Mischa Barton — who broke out in The O.C. — has joined the new chapter of Fremantle’s cult show, which has now officially started production just over a year after it looked like it was finished for good after 37 years when key U.K. partner Channel 5 pulled out. Several months later — and after a supposed final episode aired (one featuring many of Neighbours‘ former stars, including Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce — Amazon Freevee stepped in to save the day.
Joining alongside many of the leading cast, returning to their roles as the residents of Ramsay Street in the fictitious Melbourne suburb of Erinsborough, Barton will have guest appearance as Reece, an American new to the area who apparently isn’t quite who she appears to be.

Mickey Reece, prolific indie filmmaker, is no stranger to tackling stories of famous musicians. After his previous films of more supernatural fare, Reece takes a detour into more surreal territory, with an odd but significant night in the life of two celebrated country stars - one at the height of his power, and the other far past the peak of his. Country Gold is a strange tale of strange proverbial bedfellows, two men who find themselves on either side of a concave mirror, as they each navigate this significant and dangerous moment. It's 1994, and Troyal Brooks (yes, that is deliberate and...
