- At the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympics, Dryden was a TV hockey commentator. He has taught at the University of Toronto and worked in the Ministry of Education. He has written a number of books that were bestsellers: The Game and Home Game on the subject of hockey and In School on the subject of education.
- Calder Memorial Trophy (1972), Conn Smythe Trophy (1971), First All-Star Team Goalie (1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979), Second All-Star Team Goalie (1972) and Vezina Trophy (1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979).
- Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.
- Played goalie for the Montreal Canadians (1970-1979).
- Attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The Big Red's Goalie from 1966-1969: 3 East Coast Athletic Conference Championships, 3 Ivy League Championships, and the 1967 National Championship team.
- appointed Minister of Social Development after getting elected as an MP in the Canadian Federal election. (October 2004)
- President of the Toronto Maple Leafs since 1997. (2003)
- Inducted into the Etobicoke [Toronto, Ontario] Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 (inaugural class).
- Pictured on one of six 'permanent' Canadian commemorative postage stamps celebrating NHL Great Canadian Goalies, issued 1 October 2015. Others honored in this set were Johnny Bower, Martin Brodeur, Tony Esposito, Bernie Parent, and Lorne Worsley (as Gump Worsley).
