Five CBS pilots now have casting directors attached, Backstage has confirmed.The high-profile pilot for “Beverly Hills Cop,” an hour-long comedic action drama that continues the Eddie Murphy film franchise on TV, will be cast by Wendy Weidman and Rebecca Mangieri of Creative Casting. The project from “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan stars Brandon T. Jackson as police officer Aaron Foley, the son of Murphy’s iconic character Axel Foley. Murphy is expected to make a cameo in the pilot to help launch the potential series. The shoot date and location are still to be determined, but the casting directors are based in L.A.Casting is also underway on four CBS comedy pilots. Two promising cable pilots featuring crusading character tag-teams have found casting directors. Lifetime's "Stalkers," which shoots in November, will be cast by Los Angeles-based Bruce H. Newberg, Backstage has learned. The 90-minute movie and backdoor pilot is set to star Drea De Matteo, formerly of ABC's "Desperate Housewives," and veteran TV actor Jodi Lynn O'Keefe. The drama follows a police officer (De Matteo) and a district attorney (O'Keefe) who team up to bring a stalker obsessed with her ex-lover to justice. The new FX drama "The Bridge" also has a casting director attached. Rebecca Mangieri and Wendy Weidman, of Sherman Oaks-based Creative Casting, will cast pilot, which also shoots in November. The plot revolves around El Paso Police Homicide Detective Sonya North, played by Diane Kruger, who teams with a Mexican detective, played by Demián Bichir, to stop a cross-border serial killer. The pilot will be directed by acclaimed Mexican director Gerardo Naranjo.

Unless otherwise noted, all shows will shoot in Los Angeles.For ABC, Rebecca Mangieri and Wendy Weidman of Creative Casting will cast drama "Last Resort," about the crew of a submarine that declares itself the world's tiniest nuclear-armed sovereign nation. The show will shoot in Hawaii. Jeanie Bacharach will cast "Nashville," a primetime soap set in the world of country music that follows two stars, one at the top and one on the rise. It will shoot in Nashville. Cathy Sandrich Gelfond of Mackey/Sandrich will cast crime drama "Red Widow," about a woman who assumes her late husband's role running a crime syndicate. "Widow" will shoot in Vancouver, B.C. Suzanne Ryan will cast drama "666 Park Avenue," about the managers of a historic apartment building.

Sydney actor Daniel Lissing may have cracked the tough Hollywood market. The young actor, recently seen on ABC's Crownies, has been the first actor cast to appear in pilot Last Resort.. If the pilot - commissioned by ABC - goes ahead, Lissing will be a 'series regular'.
Lissing, who is represented locally by Rise Media Group (formerly Woodburn Sweitzer Management), sent a self-taped audition to casting directors Rebecca Mangieri (Cold Case, Burn Notice) and Wendy Weidman (CSI: NY) and it appears to have worked for The Shield creator, Shawn Ryan, who will co-write and co-executive produce the series. Casino Royale director Martin Campbell is attached to direct the show.
Lissing, whose other credits include feature John Doe, Cops Lac and Packed To The Rafters, will play longtime Navy Seal James King, who is a lethal killer with an ex-wife, ex-children and an ex-life. The one-hour drama centers on the crew of the U.
