Update: The BBC has issued a statement that offers important context to Sara Poyzer’s viral social media posts. The British broadcaster said it is using AI technology in a “highly sensitive documentary” to represent the voice of a person who is nearing the end of their life.
Poyzer was penciled in for the job, but her services are no longer required as the BBC attempts to honor the wishes of the contributor’s family by dedicating a brief — and clearly signposted — section of the documentary to recreating “a voice which can now no longer be heard.”
Here’s the BBC’s full statement: “We are making a highly sensitive documentary which features a contributor who is nearing the end of life and is now unable to speak. We have been working closely with their family to explore how we might best represent the contributor’s voice at the end...

The artificial intelligence debate has intensified in the U.K. this week after veteran Mamma Mia! musical star Sara Poyzer in a social media post said that At has replaced her for a BBC production.
Poyzer, who has played Donna Sheridan in the onstage musical for around 10 years, posted a screenshot of an email containing the news and tagged the U.K. public service broadcaster and labor union Equity, calling the development “sobering.” Poyzer also added a sad face emoji. She didn’t detail the name of the production or whether it was an audio or TV project.
“Sorry for the delay,” the email from an unidentified production company reads, per the screenshot shared by Poyzer on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). “We have had the approval from the BBC to use the AI generated voice so we won’t need Sara anymore.”
Miltos Yerolemou was among the industry people who reacted to the disclosure.

Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka Jaime Lannister) was joined by fellow Westeros citizens Jerome Flynn (Bronn), Hannah Murray (Gilly) and Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel) at Con of Thrones in Nashville over the weekend as they continue to do a victory lap from its eighth and final season (which no doubt will culminate this weekend at Comic-Con). When asked about the final season and the backlash it received, he had a couple of thoughts.
“This happens every season,” he pointed out during the panel. “We’re so lucky to be part of a show where people … care so much about it that you also get upset when it doesn’t go the way you want it to. And that’s fantastic, and I love it, and I love that there was an online petition to have it rewritten.”

[This story contains spoilers for season eight, episode five of HBO's Game of Thrones, "The Bells."]
A decade or so ago, Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) first left King's Landing under brutal circumstances. So much has happened on Game of Thrones, it's easy to forget everyone's first true trauma. For Arya, it was watching her mentor and veritable father figure Syrio Forel (Miltos Yerolemou) almost certainly die in battle against men of the new king Joffrey (Jack Gleeson). Days later, she watched again as her actual father, Eddard Stark (Sean Bean), lost his head and life, thanks to Joffrey'...

Game of Thrones has reached its final season, and we're counting down the days to the premiere. But with each passing moment (and every replay of the trailer), new questions surface. Who will live? Who will die? Why is Arya running down that hall? And most importantly, who will return from the dead to wreak havoc on the remaining characters battling for the throne?
While we can't guarantee answers to all of these questions, we do have a few theories about who could resurface. Remember, Game of Thrones has set a precedent of giving certain characters a rebirth. Let us not forget that Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane died during the fourth season from wounds inflicted by Oberyn's poisonous spear and later gained a new lease on life via the unscrupulous power of Qyburn, a former maester and the current hand to Queen Cersei. And of course, who doesn't remember Jon Snow...

With the news that Miltos Yerolemou, famed for his portrayal of Arya’s memorable jeri-curled swordmaster Syrio Forel, has been cast in Star Wars Episode VII (joining Thrones alumni Gwendoline Christie) it raises the question what other Game of Thrones actors could suitably make the intergalactic journey from Westeros to a galaxy far, far away?
In a way it’s a pointless question as the answer could easily be “all of them” Game of Thrones could after all be described as “Star Wars on crack but set in Middle Earth”, and its sprawling cast, featuring a roll call of venerable British and Irish character actors, are the kind of faces that have populated the saga since its inception. Having said that though it is worth looking at what actors from the show would make a great fit in the Star Wars universe, and if they were to make the jump to hyperspace?...

(Cbr) J.J. Abrams has recruited another "Game of Thrones" alum for "Star Wars: Episode VII." BBC News reports that Miltos Yerolemou, who played master sword-fighter Syrio Forel on the HBO fantasy series, has signed on to play an undisclosed, though supposedly small, role in the upcoming film. Presumably, Yerolemou was hired for his sword-fighting skills and will put them on display with the use of a lightsaber, but nothing has been announced. He joins fellow "Got" cast member Gwendoline Christie on the film. Production on the highly anticipated sci-fi sequel resumed last week after going on hiatus, allowing Harrison Ford to heal from a broken leg suffered on-set. "Star Wars: Episode VII" will hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.

Will “Star Wars: Episode VII” stop sounding so cool? It’s like every new casting announcement just bumps the upcoming film farther up the “amazingly awesome” scale. We’ve currently got John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Adam Driver and many of the original “Star Wars” cast, including Harrison Ford, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Mark Hammil rounding out the cast. The latest actor to come to the cast will bring some “Game of Thrones” flavor to the proceedings. Miltos Yerolemou has been added to the sci-fi cast, according to the BBC. Yerolemou plays one of the coolest characters on “Game of Thrones,” master swordsman Syrio Forel. However, [ Read More ]

Star Wars: Episode VII resumed filming last week, and it looks like they're still adding to the cast. Reports have come in now that a second Game of Thrones cast member (the first being Gwendoline Christie), who played Syrio Forel, has joined the film in a small role. Come inside to learn more!
This report came in over the long weekend from the BBC who report that Miltos Yerolemou has joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Game of Thrones fans will remember him best from his portrayal of the Bravos swordsmaster Syrio Forel, who trained Arya Stark in the first season. One of the primary reasons he was cast in that role in the first place is that Miltos is himself an accomplished swordsman in real life.

What's a Star Wars movie without an epic lightsaber battle or two? Well, it looks like director J. J. Abrams seems to be making sure we get just that. BBC is reporting that Miltos Yerolemou has joined the cast of Episode VII.
Yerolemou most famously played expert swordsman Syrio Forel on HBO's Game of Thrones. He's also played other roles that required his expertise with a sword, so it stands to reason that it's this talent of his that Abrams is looking to exploit as well. The report claims that the role isn't thought to be a major one. But it could still be cool to see him pop up for some sort of quick, intense lightsaber throwdown.
Yerolemou joins Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, John Boyega, and many others in this epic cinematic relaunch of the Star Wars franchise. Principal photography on the film recently resumed,...

Much to the delight of fans, Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie (better known to viewers as Brienne of Tarth) has already been cast in Star Wars Episode VII, but now another familiar face from the hit HBO series has been added to the J.J. Abrams helmed follow-up to Return of the Jedi.

He’s an accomplished swordsman away from Westeros as well, so him being added to a movie which will see characters swinging around lightsabers is very exciting news indeed!
Though his roe in Star Wars Episode VII is described as not being a major one, you have to imagine that Abrams won’t waste the opportunity to put his incredible skills to good use in the highly anticipated movie.

From swashbuckling with swords to dueling with light sabers?
That might be the case for "Game of Thrones" actor Miltos Yerolemou, who played Syrio Forel (Arya's sword teacher) in season 1. BBC News reports that he has landed a minor role in "Star Wars: Episode VII." Yerolemou joins fellow "Game of Thrones" star Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) in the highly-anticipated space saga.
As Syrio, Yerolemou was last seen in season 1, episode 8, "The Pointy End," when he helped Arya flee Lannister guards by taking them on himself. "The First Sword of Braavos does not run," he declared.
It's not a big leap to imagine Yerolemou might have a light saber in his hand. The actor is an experienced on-screen sword fighter. He's also appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company and most recently filmed a role in the BBC adaptation of "Wolf Hall."

Games of Thrones Gwendoline Christe (Brienne of Tarth) isn't the only cast member of the hit show venturing to a galaxy far, far away. Miltos Yerolemou, who played swordsman and mentor to Arya Stark, Syrio Forel, in season one, has been announced as the latest cast member to joining J.J. Abram's highly anticipated sequel. Considering Yerolemou is an accomplished swordsman (anyone who watches Game of Thrones can attest to that), it is probably safe to assume he will be wielding a lightsaber at some point. While the character is not thought to be a major one, with Episode VII setting up a new trilogy, there is every chance he could appear in Episode VIII and IX.

Star Wars: Episode VII has added a sword-fighting expert to its ranks in the form of Game Of Thrones star, Miltos Yerolemou. Yerolemou played the Braavosi swordsman Syrio Forel in the first series of the HBO smash, the teacher who schools Arya Stark in the art of wielding steel. Yerolemou has also played swordsmen in a number of other projects, so it's probably not too much of a stretch to assume he’ll be picking up a lightsaber in J.J. Abrams’ forthcoming film. Miltos Yerolemou trained Arya Stark in Game Of Thrones. Next stop? Lightsabres in Star Wars...
There can't be too many casting announcements left where Jj Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII is concerned, but here's one. Miltos Yerolemou, who popped up in the first season of Game Of Thrones, has joined the now-shooting new Star Wars adventure.
Yerolemou played Syrio Forel in the show, notable for teaching Arya Stark about the ways of swordfighting. His role in the new Star Wars film is not expected to be a big one, but it is likely to involve waving a lightsabre around. He joins another Game Of Thrones alumni, Gwendoline Christie, in the new Star Wars cast.
Production continues on the film, which is due in cinemas in December 2015.

Playing the charismatic, expert swordsman Syrio Forel on the HBO series Game of Thrones, actor Miltos Yerolemou showed that he is pretty skilled performing with a blade. Now you can prepare for a ton of suggestion that he'll be trading his broadsword for a lightsaber in Star Wars: Episode VII. If the BBC can be believed, then Yerolemou has become the latest actor to join the cast of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII, which is currently back in production. As I'm sure many of you could have predicted, there aren't currently any details available about the character he will play - and LucasFilm declined to comment regarding whether or not the story is true. The movie recently rebooted it's production following a two week hiatus as a result of Harrison Ford's on-set foot injury, but it now seems like things are back in full swing at Pinewood Studios,...

The movie recently rebooted it's production following a two week hiatus as a result of Harrison Ford's on-set foot injury, but it now seems like things are back in full swing at Pinewood Studios,...

Back in June, Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie was cast in Star Wars: Episode VII, and now we’re hearing that she won’t be the only one from Westeros to travel to a galaxy far, far away. According to BBC News, Miltos Yerolemou has landed a role in the hotly anticipated blockbuster as well.
Yerolemou is known for playing expert swordsman Syrio Forel on the first season of Game of Thrones, who trains young Arya Stark. While one could easily see him taking those skills to the next level by wielding a lightsaber, BBC News cautions that he’s landed a small role in the film. That’s all we know about it, however, so fan speculation is bound to run wild with this one.
The actor joins an expanding and mysterious cast of newcomers to the Star Wars franchise, including Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years...

Miltos Yerolemou, who had a small but memorable role as Arya Stark's sword trainer in the first season of HBO's "Game of Thrones," has joined the cast of "Star Wars: Episode VII" in an undisclosed role.
Yerolemou has played numerous sword wielding characters throughout his career, so it is naturally being speculated that he will be called upon to use a lightsaber in the film.
Though undisclosed, the role is said to be only a minor one. Yerolemou most recently worked on the BBC adaptation of Hilary Mantel's booker prize winning novel "Wolf Hall".
The project resumed shooting last week at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire following a brief hiatus. The injury sustained by Harrison Ford, which led to the hiatus, is also said to have happened during filming on a top secret set rather than on the Millennium Falcon set as has been widely reported.

There's one Westeros resident already in the cast, in the shape of Gwendoline Christie, but J.J. Miltos Yerolemou has, according to the BBC, scored a small role in the new film.Though production on the latest Star Wars has been underway for months (pausing recently to reconfigure schedules after Harrison Ford’s leg was broken on set), Abrams and co. are apparently still bringing actors aboard to supplement the cast, which already includes Ford, Christie, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Max Von Sydow, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Oscar Isaac, Christina Chong, Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson.Details on Yerolemou’s role have yet to be revealed, to almost no-one’s surprise. But while you might remember him best as Syrio Forel, who taught Maisie Williams...
