The Black Eyed Peas were mistakenly named as the winners of the Best International Group award at the Nrj Awards in Cannes, France on Saturday. It was later revealed that German band Tokio Hotel were the real winners.
In an embarrassing mistake, the French music awards show read out a card declaring the quartet as the winners, when the trophy should have gone to Tokio Hotel. Thankfully, the group - will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie - did not collect the award on stage.
French choreographer Kamel Ouali, who read the card along with American singer Ke$ha, later apologized and explained that he had been confused because the card contained both the winner's and the other nominees'.
Black Eyed Peas opened the awards ceremony with "I Gotta Feeling." They won International Song of the Year for the same song at the event.

Black Eyed Peas has got one upsetting evening on Saturday, January 23 as they became a victim of blunder at the 11th Annual Nrj Music Awards. The hip-hop group was mistakenly announced by music newcomer Ke$ha and French choreographer Kamel Ouali as the recipient of Best International Group, which actually won by Tokio Hotel.
The two presenters were left embarrassed when no one came on stage to pick up the award, and soon realized they had made a mistake. The 11th Annual Nrj Music Awards has been held on Saturday night, January 23 in Cannes, France with Kelly Rowland, Dita Von Teese and Pharrell Williams in attendance. During the announcement of International Group/Duo of the Year winner, singer Ke$ha and French choreographer Kamel Ouali mistakenly said that Black Eyed Peas got the prize.
Before the group went onto the stage and were handed the award, Kamel apologized, telling the crowd who booed him and Ke$ha that the winner and the nominees were all put on the card and he had read the wrong name. They then revealed that it were Tokio Hotel who got the trophy.
Losing the International Group/Duo of the Year title to the Bill Kaulitz-fronted band, the Hip-Hop group consisting of will.i.am, Stacy Ferguson, Taboo and apl.de.ap still managed to walk away with one gong and avoided any further embarrassment.
