Richard Gerald Nuzzo
- Additional Crew
Richard Nuzzo, a native of Baldwinsville has held an interest in the medical field from a young age. Directly out of high school he was accepted into the Crouse School of Nursing (now Pomeroy College of Nursing). He graduated with an Associated Degree in Nursing in May of 2009 and started his career at Upstate Medical University working as a Neuroscience Nurse. In 2010 he started his dive into the world of emergency medical services volunteering with the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps, followed by transitioning from neuroscience to working as an Emergency Department Nurse. While working as an Emergency Department Nurse he held the position as a charge nurse at Crouse Hospital for 5 years before moving into his current job as a Traveling Nurse in Emergency Departments. He currently (as of 4/20/2020) has Basic Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advance Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course and Emergency Medical Technician.
His interest in remote and austere medicine started with becoming a movie set medic. It is a strong interest due to his preference for pre-hospital care and the ability to perform and function with a high level of autonomy. He joined the Wilderness Medical Society with the intent on obtaining the credential of Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine. With 10 years of experience in the hospital setting as a registered nurse at a variety of facilities and roles and 9 years of being part of emergency medical services he would be an excellent resource for medical care and/or consultant roles.
