The Muppets Mayhem may be history on Disney+, but co-creator Adam F. Goldberg is not ready to say goodbye to his furry friends.
After it was revealed that the live-action series was getting the boot after one season, Goldberg gave an update on X about his future with the Muppets.
“Huge thanks to the critic & fan love that got us 6 Emmy noms and a #1 Billboard album,” he wrote. “Mayhem was truly the most joyful and collaborative experience of my career. From day one all I’ve cared about is creating a Muppet-verse and Yes I am already cooking up more Muppets with @billbarretta & @JeffYorkes! It’s Happening.”

As is usually the case with streaming series, Disney did not disclose any viewing information for The Muppets Mayhem. The series has not charted on Nielsen’s top 10 streaming rankings.
Lilly Singh headed the show’s human cast as a young music executive helping the Electric Mayhem record their first studio album. Tahj Mowry, Saara Chaudry and Anders Holm also starred, along with Muppets performers Matt Vogel, Bill Barretta, Peter Linz, Dave Goelz, David Rudman and Eric Jacobson.

The Electric Mayhem Band is breaking up after Disney+ canceled its latest Muppets show.
The streamer has axed live-action series The Muppets Mayhem, which comes from The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg, after one season.
The ten-part series was released in May but Disney+ never disclosed any ratings for the show.
The cancellation marks a blow for plans for a wider Muppetverse; Goldberg previously expressed interest in branching out using the classic IP, which includes some of Disney’s most recognizable characters.
It is the latest cancelation at Disney+ this year; other shows to have been axed include The Spiderwick Chronicles, which has since been shopped to Roku, National Treasure, Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., Willow, Big Shot and Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

It’s always difficult for parents to find entertainment that bridges the gap between kid-friendly and not making you want to bore a hole in your skull with a giant-nailed Drilldo (look it up). In the past few decades, kiddie cartoon purveyors like DreamWorks and Illumination have attempted to bridge the gap by serving up cuddly characters spewing pop culture reference-laden dialogue, penned by Wesleyan grads with a minor coke problem. But the result invariably comes off as slick and cynical: the kids feel bored, the adults pandered to, the...

The recent passing of Harry Belafonte — and the viral proliferation of a clip featuring the iconic singer/actor/activist crooning “Day-o” in front of a boat packed with dancing pigs — was a reminder of how many stars of a certain generation were at their most relaxed and ebullient as participants on The Muppet Show.
Some 44 years after Belafonte did The Muppet Show, the powers that be at Disney and the Muppet Studio continue to go out of their way to find avenues for Muppet programming that inexplicably avoid just doing The Muppet Show for a new generation. There’s a willingness to fritter this priceless brand away on tangential projects that vanish quickly and forgettably instead of bringing the characters and the A-list stars who love them together in one spoof-and-song-driven space.

Though they've primarily been supporting characters in the past – the house band in The Muppet Show and popping up in the movies for the odd appearance and musical number – Dr. Teeth And The Electric Mayhem are ready for their moment in the spotlight, thanks to a new Disney+ series called The Muppets Mayhem. Check out the full trailer…
This new series sees The Electric Mayhem on an epic musical journey to finally record their first studio album. With the help of driven young music executive Nora (Lily Singh), the old-school Muppet band comes face to face with the current day music scene as they try to finally go platinum.
The show is the brain spawn of Adam F. Goldberg, best known for creating US sitcom The Goldbergs based on his youth, Muppet veteran performer/writer Bill Barretta and actor/writer Jeff Yorkes.
Barretta will pull double duty, also playing Dr.

Today in news that will totally make you smile (I hope!), I'm thrilled to be the one to remind you there's a new Muppets series coming to Disney+ -- one that takes a deep dive into the rockin' world of The Electric Mayhem Band, aka that band of Muppets that is a regular fixture in most Jim Henson properties. Cute, right? Needless to say, I'm ready for "The Muppets Mayhem"— and the trailer is a major reason why.
In the show's sneak peek, we get reacquainted with the band and find out they've made a mark on some of the world's most famous musicians, including Tommy Lee, Chris Stapleton, and Lil Nas X. But the trailer drops a bomb on us: the legendary group has never actually made a record together. This show chronicles what exactly happens on Mayhem's quest to finally produce an album, many years after the height of their music career.

Saara Chaudry and Anders Holm have joined the cast of the Disney+ live-action series The Muppets Mayhem.
Chaudry will star as series regular Hannah, Nora’s (Lilly Singh) younger and arguably more accomplished sister. Raised in the era of likes, shares, and the idea that “if it wasn’t posted, it didn’t happen,” Hannah translated her e-acumen and talent for enthusiastic and aspirational make-up videos into a burgeoning social media empire, complete with a legion of “Fan-a-Hannahs.” Her success has unfortunately upended her dynamic with Nora.
Holm was cast as recurring guest star JJ, a formerly sheepish, nerdy intern-turned uber-cool, tech entrepreneur who happens to be Nora’s ex. On the surface, his ambition knows no bounds, but the real JJ underneath still hopes to win her back.

Holm was cast as recurring guest star JJ, a formerly sheepish, nerdy intern-turned uber-cool, tech entrepreneur who happens to be Nora’s ex. On the surface, his ambition knows no bounds, but the real JJ underneath still hopes to win her back.

Seth MacFarlane picked up his fifth career Emmy when he won the award for Best Voice-Over Performance for “Family Guy” at Saturday night’s Creative Arts ceremony. He was ranked third in our predictions center with 4/1 odds of winning. It’s his fourth win for doing voice-over work on the show, having previously won in 2000, 2016 and 2017. He also picked up the Emmy for Best Music and Lyrics for “You’ve Got a Lot to See” in 2002.

Alex Borstein is having a love affair with Emmy voters right now. Last year she pulled off two victories for separate performances in “Family Guy” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and she’s looking to do the same this year. Her first chance will come this weekend with the Best Voice-Over Performance category. To win this she’ll have to beat back challenges from one of her co-stars, a six-time Emmy winner and two under-recognized veterans of the industry. Below, let’s examine each of this year’s nominated performers and what they’re being recognized for.

This week’s question: What’s your favorite puppet character on TV of all time? Why?
Allison Keene (@KeeneTV), Paste Magazine
Given my lifelong love of Henson productions, most especially the Muppets (and all related movies), it’s no surprise that I’ve become fully obsessed with “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.” But to pick a favorite puppet? It’s nearly impossible. I have to pick two. Ok, three. It’s important that they’re all represented!
For one: Deet, a Gelfling. The heart and soul of the series, so sweet, so cute. One of the series’ writers revealed recently that Deet is based off of the way his girlfriend talks about horses. It fits; Deet is pure goodness and joy, but she’s also strong and brave. Two: Hup, the...

One of Sesame Street‘s most familiar faces is leaving the neighborhood.
Puppeteer Caroll Spinney, who has played Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch since the show’s premiere in 1969, announced Wednesday that he is stepping down from both iconic roles.
Spinney released the following statement about his decision to retire:

Caroll Spinney has been a television mainstay since 1969, but his face has rarely made an appearance.
Disguised beneath a frock of bright yellow feathers and an orange bill, the “Sesame Street” puppeteer was the heart and soul behind Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch since the show’s premiere almost 50 years ago.
Now, at the age of 84, Spinney told the New York Times that he is retiring from “Sesame Street” after nearly half a century playing some of the show’s most iconic characters. Come Thursday, Spinney will enter the “Sesame Street” studios in Astoria, Queens for the last time before leaving the roles behind forever.
“Before I came to ‘Sesame Street,’ I didn’t feel like what I was doing was very important. Big Bird helped me find my purpose,” Spinney said in a statement. “Even as I step down from my roles, I feel I will always be Big Bird.

Caroll Spinney, the puppeteer who played Sesame Street‘s Big Bird as well as Oscar the Grouch character since the iconic children’s show’s premiere episode in 1969, is retiring. Producer Sesame Workshop announced the news Wednesday.
The world famous Big Bird has had a great flight in the hands of Spinney, having visited China with Bob Hope in 1979, danced with the Rockettes, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and named a “Living Legend” in 2000 by the Library of Congress.
“Caroll has been one of the leading lights of Sesame Street from the very beginning,” said Joan Ganz Cooney, co-founder of Sesame Workshop, in a release announcing the news. “His genius and his talent made Big Bird the most beloved yellow feathered friend across the globe. But the sheer artistry of Caroll is that he also brought Oscar to life and made him the most lovable Grouch in the world.
