The prospect of making a grounded "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" film sounds decidedly counterintuitive to the very concept of the franchise. Yet, that's exactly what director Steve Barron did with the Turtles' first-ever live-action film, and with flying colors no less. It's honestly kind of a miracle how real so much of Barron's 1990 "Tmnt" movie feels. Yes, there are human-sized anthropomorphic turtles skateboarding and snacking on pizza in its sewers, yet the film's depiction of New York City is believably scuzzy and lived-in.
Then there are the four heroes in a half-shell themselves, who are brought to life by incredibly textured and emotive animatronic suits designed by the magicians at Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Most importantly for a film with the word "Ninja" in the title, they're able to convincingly perform martial arts in action scenes that are far more exhilarating and visceral than the relatively weightless tussles...

Danny Bonaduce’s Brain Surgery Was a Success, ‘Partridge Family’ Star Expected Home Soon, Agent Says
Danny Bonaduce’s brain surgery was a success, his agent Paul Anderson told TMZ on Tuesday.
The “Partridge Family” star, who was recently diagnosed with hydrocephalus, had a stent and a drainage port put in to relieve the pressure on his brain. Ahead of the surgery, Bondaduce said he hoped it would restore his ability to walk.
“From what I hear, if the diagnosis is correct, it’ll be 50 percent better right [away]. But I’d rather be safe than sorry. I don’t wanna get my hopes up too much that I’ll be cured … I will be completely bummed out if this doesn’t work. I can’t walk currently, I just can’t,” he said.

Danny Bonaduce, an actor who played Danny Partridge on the 70s television series The Partridge Family, is scheduled to undergo brain surgery on Monday to restore his ability to walk.
Last spring, Bondauce took time off from his radio show, The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show, to receive medical attention for a condition that left him using a cane to walk. He was later diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a neurological disorder caused by a buildup of fluid that increases pressure on the brain.
In an interview with TMZ, Bonaduce explained that the surgery will consist of a stent and drainage port being placed in his brain to eliminate the fluid and relieve the pressure. “From what I hear, if the diagnosis is correct, it’ll be 50 percent better right [away]. Fans are sending their best wishes to Danny Bonaduce after the Partridge Family alum revealed he’s getting brain surgery. Bonaduce told TMZ in an online interview on Friday, June 2, that he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus — an accumulation of fluid in the brain’s ventricles — after months of trouble talking and walking. “I can’t walk currently,” he said. “I just can’t.” The actor doesn’t know how he developed the neurological disorder, but he speculated that it might have stemmed from the time he took a guitar to the head on a reality TV show or from his 2009 boxing match with former MLB star José Canseco. So on Monday, June 5, the 63-year-old will have a shunt put in his head, and he’s hopeful the operation will alleviate his symptoms. “I’m never gonna run track, I’m never gonna box again, but if I can get from...

Actor and radio host Danny Bonaduce will undergo brain surgery next week in hopes of curing a long-standing health issue.
Bonaduce, age 63, was a beloved member of TV classic The Partridge Family before moving on to reality shows like Breaking Bonaduce. He currently hosts The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show on iHeart Radio.
Bonaduce dropped out of his radio show for two months last year because of his health, but kept talking to doctors even after returning.
He told TMZ about his condition, claiming his brain felt “fuzzy.” But the medical teams couldn’t decide on what the issue was. Finally, one provided a diagnosis of hydrocephalus, a fluid buildup on the brain.
“I can’t figure out what caused it, ’cause I’ve done so many stupid things on reality TV shows,” he said to TMZ. “I took a guitar to the head. That hurt, and was possibly the cause of all this.

The Nih (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke) describes hydrocephalus as a condition characterized by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the brain’s ventricles, resulting in potentially damaging pressure on the brain’s delicate tissues.
Despite uncertainties surrounding the origins of his condition, Bonaduce, 63, who has triumphed over substance abuse and maintains sobriety, opened up about his speculations regarding the possible causes of the disorder in a candid discussion with TMZ on Friday.

The history of baseball on film is as rich and diverse as the players who have stepped onto ball fields over the last 150 years. The first baseball movie dates back to the silent film era with the 1915 dramedy Right Off The Bat, according to Baseball Almanac, and spans to the present day where a streaming service released The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience, a “visual poem” from The Lonely Island about former Oakland A’s stars Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. You won’t find another sport with that kind of range.

It takes a certain amount of cachet for a comedy group to make a visual album parody centered on two Bay Area sports figures from the late ’80s. But not only did The Lonely Island pull off the concept, they turned it into the surprise Netflix launch “The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience.”
Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer star as Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, the home run-hitting stars of the decade-capping Oakland A’s squad. Co-directed by Schaffer and Mike Diva, the half-hour special is a trippy cacophony of raps about region-specific attractions, the life of an Mlb superstar, and a nimble rundown of every team in the league following the 1993 expansion.
Now that there’s been a small amount of distance from last month’s stealth drop and with the group’s upcoming tour on the horizon, Schaffer and Samberg talked on Vulture’s Good One podcast about what their next project might be.

Comedic trio The Lonely Island have returned with a 27-minute Netflix special. Billed as a “visual poem,” The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience envisions a universe where baseball superstars Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire recorded a rap album in 1988.
Mike Diva and Akiva Schaffer directed the special, which stars Andy Samberg as Canseco and Schaffer as McGwire. Canseco and McGwire were known as the Bash Brothers during their seven-season run together playing for the Oakland Athletics. The nickname was inspired by their response to homeruns: bashing each other’s forearms. Years later,...

The Lonely Island — the comedy rap trio of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone — dropped a surprise new album and an accompanying short film at Wednesday night.
And it’s not just any album, it’s basically their version of Beyonce’s “Lemonade.”
The Lonely Island’s latest album is “The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience,” in which Samberg and Schaffer play (for some reason) Oakland A’s sluggers Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire respectively in a goofy, ’80s-themed “visual poem.”

Jose Canseco is still remembered as one of the greatest baseball players of his time no matter how he went on to admit that he’d been using steroids for quite a while. His family made their way from Cuba after falling on hard times following Castro’s rise to power in the late 50s, where his father eventually tried to teach Jose and his brother the game of baseball. Things progressed fairly slowly up until Jose turned about 18 and all of a sudden became a slugger that could perform in a way that was nothing short of phenomenal. His sudden

The real-life misadventures of central figures in the 2013 Major League Baseball doping scandal play like outrageous twists and turns in the seriocomic crime fiction of Carl Hiassen or Elmore Leonard throughout “Screwball,” an impudently entertaining documentary that suggests what might result if the Monty Python troupe were given carte blanche to produce an investigative report for “60 Minutes.”

Jose Canseco got his juices stirring over the recent onslaught of sexual misconduct allegations against powerful men, offering his own bizarre #MeToo movement and opining that women who complain about sexual misconduct are “racist against ugly men.” The former baseball player — who was at the heart of the steroids controversy — hit up Twitter on Tuesday to offer his thoughts on the topic, divulging that he, too, had been molested and that it was “kind of a turn on.” “What is going on with all these politicians molesting women I’ve been molested by several women and never complained,” Canseco wrote.

Twenty-five years ago, back in 1992, Homer Simpson did what was only possible for Homer Simpson, and that was singlehandedly win a big softball game for his power plant team. With episodes like Beanball (formerly known as Double Switch) Pitch may make a baseball fan out of me yet!
Pitch Season 1 Episode 3 gave us more background on Ginny via flashbacks and better insight into Al, Oscar, and Frank. There was slick backroom scheming, a hookup, a brawl, an unexpected bromance, hilarious one liners, and loads of sports action!
There isn't much to complain about. It was the strongest episode so far, of a show that just keeps getting better!
Let's get that hookup out of the way, shall we?
I like Amelia and Mike individually. Hell, I don't even mind the two of them together. I can see why the two of them would be drawn together. They both have their fair share of baggage and are a bit, emotionally damaged, for lack of a better word.
But the drawback is...
