Nicole Richie has been a “diehard fan” of the 1991 cult comedy “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” for as long as she can remember.
“I’ve been quoting this movie my whole life,” she says.
And now, life has come full circle because the former “Simple Life” reality television icon stars in director Wade Allain-Marcus’ “Don’t Tell Mom” remake as fashion company boss Rose.
The new film stars Simone Joy Jones as Tanya, a 17-year-old whose summer plans are upended when her mom (“Ms. Pat” star Patricia Williams) checks herself into a health retreat. Things completely unravel when the babysitter, played by Oscar nominee June Squibb, hired to take care of Tanya and her siblings suddenly dies.
“When I heard it was going to be a remake, I was like, ‘What does this mean?’” she says. “So I jumped on a Zoom with Wade and he was like, ‘This...

Climate change has become the Go To dystopia for stories these days, each with an apocalyptic feel, showing little hope for humanity. Paramount released the film adaptation of Megan Hunter’s novel The End We Start From, the latest such installment, in December. Now available for streaming rental, the film, starring Jodie Comer, explores the aftermath of such a climate incident.
Water rushes from the skies, flooding ensures, and soon towns and cut off and cities can’t cope. England is submerged (the rest of the world’s fate is left up in the air) and the Woman (Comer), finds herself giving birth without any of the usual medical support. When we first see her, she’s in a bathtub as the rains fall outside so there’s no escape. The graphic birth shows the stakes she and her partner R (Joel Fry) face in not only their survival but of the infant.

Cupcake? Attacking people. Foxy? Running like an awkward weirdo in the original game. Springtrap? Oh, baby, he is here, and "Five Nights at Freddy" fans are eatin' good with this newest movie trailer from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. For the last decade, "Five Nights at Freddy's" (or "FNaF") has been a cultural phenomenon with a stranglehold on the landscape of horror gaming. Created by Scott Cawthon, the point-and-click survival horror game was a simple indie game that gained viral fame and turned into a multi-million dollar franchise. A film adaptation has been in production hell for over five years at this point, but everything we've seen thus far has been proof that this is no ordinary adaptation. It's difficult not to just sit here and completely geek out over this latest trailer, because after years of thinking a "FNaF" film wasn't ever going to see the light of day, seeing...

Kanye West’s former publicist from Chicago was indicted by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis along with Donald Trump and 17 other people in Georgia’s election case.

Christopher Nolan revealed on “The Rich Eisen Show” during his “Oppenheimer” press tour that he considers “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” to be one of the “great comedies,” which may come as a surprise to anyone who assumed the Oscar-nominated filmmaker is as brooding and cold as some of his films are. Eisen asked Nolan to name his favorite “remote drops,” referring to films that you just have to watch any time you’re scrolling through TV channels and see it’s airing.
“I mean, god, anything by [Stanley] Kubrick, you know? It’s a remote drop,” said Nolan. “And some of the great comedies too, I mean ‘Talladega Nights,’ I’m never gonna be able to switch that up.”
“‘The Ballad of Ricky Bobby’ is a Christopher Nolan mic drop movie?” Eisen asked.
“If you ain’t first, you’re last,” replied Nolan, referring to Will Ferrell’s...

This article discusses cinematic depictions of sexual violence.
Once in a while, an R-rated movie is an experience that we're not sure we're meant to enjoy. Not like the taboo excitement of true crime, or the cathartic pain that comes with some documentaries. More like a feeling that we're not sure about who the intended audience is for this film ... and, dear God, are we that audience? We're watching something that skates off the edge of good taste, and just maybe, we're enjoying it.
It's an artistic conundrum that's fueled decades of controversy and censorship, from the famous "I know obscenity when I see it" Supreme Court trial to the U.K.'s all-too-familiar-today right wing conservative dalliance in the '80s with cleansing the landscape of the "video nasty." They're films from the famous to the infamous, movies that revel in pushing the boundaries. Sometimes there's a thoughtful message underneath the morass.

Are Christopher Nolan movies too loud? It’s a question that’s asked every time the director releases a movie, and “Oppenheimer” is no exception. Nolan’s sound mix is once again a point of contention among viewers, with some complaining that it’s hard to understand the dialogue against Ludwig Göransson’s booming score and other sound design choices. In a recent interview with Insider, Nolan explained that one reason it may be hard to hear the dialogue in “Oppenheimer” is because he refuses to re-record his actors in post-production.
“I like to use the performance that was given in the moment rather than the actor re-voice it later,” Nolan said. “Which is an artistic choice that some people disagree with, and that’s their right.”
Nolan refuses to record Adr, so whatever vocal takes he gets on the day of filming are what go into the film’s theatrical cut.

A lot has been said about the clash between ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ which squared off at the box-office on July 21. But, what does Cillian Murphy, the actor who plays the titular role in ‘Oppenheimer’ think about Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’?
Well, the actor has a rather interesting answer to that, reports ‘Variety’.
Omelete (via Cinefilos) asked Murphy if he’d play Ken in a potential sequel to Gerwig’s now historic comedy blockbuster.
“Sure, yeah. Let’s read the script, let’s have a conversation,” Murphy responded about playing Ken. “I can’t wait to see (‘Barbie’). I can’t wait to see the movie. I think it’s great for cinema to get all these great movies happening this summer.”
As per ‘Variety’, ‘Barbie’ opened to a massive $162 million during its opening weekend, but ‘Oppenheimer’ was no slouch. The film debuted to a huge $82 million, a staggering number considering...

Samuel L. Jackson had some pretty high hopes for the creature feature Snakes on a Plane. But the film didn’t meet certain expectations after its release, and Jackson theorized this was because it was perhaps too good.

Jackson was eager to do the movie Snakes on a Plane. He personally attached his name and star-power to the project, believing the film would be a solid time at the theaters. Up until the film’s release, there seemed to be much interest in the film, especially on the internet. The growing expectations for the film, Jackson believed, played a part in switching the film from rated PG-13 to rated R.
“Somebody woke up. They said, ‘Wait a minute.’ And it’s a better film. C’mon it makes no sense to...

Cillian Murphy is the star of Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” but is he ready to embrace the pink? Given the “Barbenheimer” craze that’s sweeping the nation, Murphy has naturally been asked a lot about Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.” Omelete (via Cinéfilos) even asked the “Oppenheimer” actor if he’d play a Ken in a potential sequel to Gerwig’s now historic comedy blockbuster.

We’re seven weeks away from the release of “Oppenheimer,” Christopher Nolan’s epic about the man who led America’s effort to create the first atomic bomb. That act was, regardless of any moral implications, an incredible technical feat, and Nolan’s film will prove to do likewise.
The movie is not just shot on film, but entirely on large format film—a combination of Panavision 65mm and IMAX 65mm, and as the Associated Press reported, the feature is then projected in IMAX 70mm. IMAX prints have weighed in, like a boxer, at 600 lbs. If one were to lay the picture out as one long strip, it would extend for 11 miles.
“The sharpness and the clarity and the depth of the image is unparalleled,” Nolan said to the AP of the preferred projection format. “The headline, for me, is by shooting on IMAX 70mm film, you’re really letting the screen disappear.
