After the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday night denied a request to issue emergency relief blocking Texas’ new law that bans abortion at six weeks and, say opponents, effectively eliminates access to abortions statewide, some big names in entertainment expressed their opinions about the legislation.
A group of prominent actors, musicians and other artists and companies swiftly responded to the news on social media. Reese Witherspoon, Alyssa Milano, Dua Lipa, Kerry Washington, St. Vincent, Eva Longoria Baston, Bad Robot and P!nk were among them. Many shared an image with the text, “I stand in solidarity with Texans & people everywhere seeking reproductive freedom.” The full list of the celebrities who support that sentiment is below; the vast majority of the signatories are women.
Washington also shared a link to a Planned Parenthood petition which, among other things, maintains that “health care — including safe, legal abortion — is a human right.

Beta Film and Red Bull Media House are launching high-end scripted project The Net. Inspired by true events, the ambitious series is planned as five standalone seasons of eight episodes each. It uses the world of soccer as a backdrop for the characters who experience the beautiful game not only as a dream factory, but also one of the largest organized crime enterprises in history. Based on a concept from Matthias Hartmann and Plinio Bachmann, the series aims to demonstrate a new avenue for international drama production whereby individual seasons can be watched alone or can be discovered as part of the 40-hour interwoven narrative. Each of the five seasons will be developed with local partners and produced in their respective home markets. Negotiations with producers and broadcasters are under way with shooting scheduled to commence in 2019/2020.

Phase 4 Films has acquired North American rights to Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie from SModcast Pictures.
Produced by Jason Mewes, written by Kevin Smith and directed by first time filmmaker Steve Stark, Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie follows the convenience store stoners from Clerks as they win the lottery and transform themselves into costumed avengers.
The parody features the voice talents of Mewes, Eliza Dushku, Tara Strong, Ralph Garman, Ben Gleib, Jennifer Schwalbach, author Neil Gaiman and Stan Lee. Phase 4 will release the film on May 6.
“Most comic book movies have a budget of $100m or more,” said Smith. “This is what a comic book movie looks like at $69,000. Yes, the budget was only $69,000, and yes, that naughty number was insisted upon by our producer, Jason Mewes.”
Larry Greenberg brokered the deal on behalf of Phase 4 Films with Wme Global and Jordan Monsanto on behalf of SModcast Pictures.

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes unleashed the first trailer for their new animated adventure Jay & Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie! This is what Jay & Silent Bob fans get while we wait for Smith's final film Clerks 3. Maybe some of the more hardcore fans will like what they see in the animated film, but it really kind of just fell flat for me, and did nothing to make me want to see the movie. It just seems like there was a lot of recycled stuff from Mallrats and Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back. But maybe some of you will look past that stuff, and enjoy what you see. Here's the synopsis...
When they can no longer stomach the ever-growing weed of suburban crime, Jay and Silent Bob take on the mantles of costumed avengers Bluntman and Chronic, smashing the super-villains they accidentally create! Can the Doobage Duo save their...

The seemingly endless wait for the Syfy summer schedule is finally over! There is good news and bad, and one thing that is both good and bad. Let’s start with that: the Eureka Season Finale. We love Eureka, so every episode is good news; the fact that it’s a series finale, not so much. Mark your calendars – and have plenty of Kleenex in stock – for July 16 at 9/8c. Right after Comic-Con, which is early this year. We’ll see if that means a panel or not.
The good news: Warehouse 13 and Alphas return on July 23. The hmmm news is that Lost Girl will move to Fridays at 10 on July 20. Hey That’S Haven’S Spot. So Where The Heck Is Haven? Admittedly we had a head’s up that Haven would be pushed to fall when we learned that the DVDs for Season 2 weren’t being released until September but Argh.

Those of you who were around last year and follow me on Twitter (so... like maybe four of you) will recall that I started a Shark Week Theme Songs hashtag on Twitter since I felt like the sharks were not given appropriate musical backup. This year, it seems like they've gone ahead and picked Lady Gaga's "Teeth" as the unofficial Shark Week theme song which I do approve of. However that does not mean I've given up my mission which has more to do with wordplay anyway. Those of you who'd like to play along but don't have Twitter can still read mine without joining and those of you on Twitter are welcome to use the #sharkweekthemesongs tag for any of your own creations. Enjoy! Here's your Monday night TV:

Earlier in the week some of you were suggesting that I drop the "Intern" part of my name since I have graduate. It's very kind of you, but puts me in a bind because I'm the one who chose the term "Intern Rusty" so that prospective employers googling me didn't necessarily turn up discussions of thrush and what shows are best for the casual viewer who appreciates handsome men but not plot. Mischa Barton's ex-boyfriend Brandon Davis has pleaded guilty to felony possession of cocaine following his arrest in Los Angeles earlier this year.
Police took the socialite into custody in April after they were called to a nightclub in Hollywood to investigate allegations he had punched comedian Ben Gleib in the face.
Cops searched Davis and found cocaine in his pocket, according to reports.
Last month the 31 year old entered a not guilty plea to one misdemeanour count of battery and one count of felony possession of a controlled substance.
But in court on Tuesday he pleaded guilty to the drug charge and no contest to the battery count, reports TMZ.com.
A judge has now ordered Davis to take part in a drug diversion program - and if he completes it successfully he will face no further punishment.

Last night one of you lovely readers out there caught a proofreading mistake I'd made in the column and pointed it out. Now, it's not unusual that I make slight spelling or grammar mistakes so I want all of you to know that please, feel free to let me know if you catch one. You can mention it in the comments or email me because I'm terrible at proofreading things I've written and am happy to fix them if they're really irking you. Most of the time. I've found that some of my spelling mistakes end up making things more amusing for all of us so some of them I just leave alone even if I know they're there. So, with that said, here's your Monday night TV:

Tonight's the season finale of "Glee" which I suspect more of you are watching than admit it. I get that, while I've given up any hope of appearing cool or like I have good taste in television, I understand the instinct to protect oneself from the slings and arrows that come when you admit that you're still into (or at least regularly watching) a show that is widely regarded as terrible. It's a strange phenomena, there's shows I've been able to quit after a single bad episode, and there's shows that I stick with even though watching them gives me no real enjoyment anymore not even as train wrecks go (looking at you, "Grey's Anatomy"). And then there's the people who watch so that every so-so episode they can hop online and type as fast as their little fingers can manage that the show has obviously "jumped the shark" (a...

Socialite Brandon Davis (brother of Celebrity Rehab‘s Jason Davis) is best known for calling Lindsay Lohan a “firecrotch” and (allegedly) tweeting that ex Mischa Barton was one of the “fattest people on the planet.” So forgive us if we’re not shocked that the guy was picked up by police in Hollywood last night. According to TMZ, Brandon—already 86′ed from one club, punched comedian Ben Gleib (a Chelsea Lately regular) at the Roosevelt Hotel. Cops reportedly found cocaine on Davis, and promptly scooted him off to Hollywood Pd, where he hopefully remains. The champ is charged with battery and possession of a controlled substance, though we’re sure a helicopter filled with money has already been sent to remedy the situation.
