Made his stage debut in 1894 as "Jack Webster" with the Stuart Robeson Company.
Was the son of actor/manager John Webster and the actress Nellie McHenry. In 1899 John Webster Sr. is presumed to have committed suicide by jumping into the rapids above Niagara Falls. His body was never found.
Died in his dressing room, at the Henry Miller Theater on West Forty-Third Street, just a few minutes before his curtain call for the play "The Poor Nut".
