Esther Turan is a distinguished filmmaker and a founding member of Moviebar Productions, an esteemed and award-winning film production company with operations in Budapest, Hungary, and Los Angeles. With a background in directing and a notable alumni of SZFE (the University of Theatre and Film Arts, Budapest), Esther plays a pivotal role in the creative process of all Moviebar projects.
Her extensive producing experience encompasses a diverse range of American and European feature films, TV series, and documentaries. Notably, Moviebar served as the service production company for the highly acclaimed third season of the BBC's Vienna Blood TV series. Additionally, Esther produced the chilling horror feature "The Reckoning," directed by Neil Marshall, which received the esteemed Best Horror Feature Award at the Berlin Independent Film Festival.
Her involvement extended to co-producing the gripping segment "The Cobblers' Lot" for the renowned horror anthology "The Field Guide to Evil," directed by Peter Strickland and selected for SXSW. Furthermore, she contributed as a co-producer on "Eld & Lågor" (Swoon), directed by Mans Marlind and Björn Stein.
Esther is one of the creators of the acclaimed documentary series "BP Underground," a project she both produced and directed. This captivating series received accolades such as the Documentary Feature Gold at the Independent Film Festival Awards in Los Angeles and the prestigious Best Multimedia Project of 2021 at the Petofi Music Awards in Hungary.
To bridge the gap between American and European filmmakers, she divides her time between Moviebar's offices in Los Angeles and Budapest. Her dedication to fostering connections and collaborations between these vibrant film industries has earned her a membership at the prestigious European Producers Club since May, 2023
