After the threat of legal action from Tupac’s estate, Drake removed his Kendrick Lamar diss “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which appeared to feature an AI-generated version of Tupac’s voice.
Drake shared the song last Friday, releasing it on the heels of “Push Ups,” his response to Lamar’s verse on Futrue and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” While “Push Ups” got an official release, “Taylor Made Freestyle” was only ever posted as a video on Drake’s social media pages, not on streaming services, where it would’ve earned royalties.

Tupac Shakur’s estate has sent a cease-and-desist letter threatening to sue Drake over his recent Kendrick Lamar diss track featuring AI-generated vocals from the late rapper, reports Billboard.
Howard King, the attorney representing Tupac’s estate, has given Drake 24 hours to confirm he will pull “Taylor Made Freestyle” from social media, or all legal remedies will be pursued against him. Update: As of Thursday evening, the track has been removed from Drake’s social media accounts.
“The Estate is deeply dismayed and disappointed by your unauthorized use of Tupac’s voice and personality,” the letter reads. “Not only is the record a flagrant violation of Tupac’s publicity and the estate’s legal rights, it is also a blatant abuse of the legacy of one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. The Estate would never have given its approval for this use.”

The Tupac Shakur estate sent Drake a cease-and-desist letter, demanding he take down his Kendrick Lamar diss, “Taylor Made Freestyle,” because it allegedly used an unauthorized AI-generated version of Tupac’s voice.
The letter, sent by lawyer Howard King and obtained by Rolling Stone, called the use of AI Tupac a “flagrant violation of Tupac’s publicity and the estate’s legal rights,” as well as a “blatant abuse of the legacy of one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time.” King asserted the estate “would have never given...

Earlier this week singer Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, reached a settlement with an ex-girlfriend who accused him of rape. The woman, identified only as “Jane Doe,” filed her suit in 2021 — the pair were set to face off in court next week. On Wednesday, Jane Doe’s attorney Adam Wolf filed a notice of settlement in Los Angeles.
Manson’s attorney Howard King commented, “Brian is pleased that, just as previous lawsuits were abandoned without payment or settled for pennies on the dollar, this plaintiff has now agreed to drop her suit in exchange for an insurance payment representing a fraction of her demands and far less than the cost to Brian of proceeding to trial.”
Doe issued her own statement to Rolling Stone and explained why she dropped the suit: “threats, bullying, harassment and various forms of intimidation that have intensified over the past few weeks.

Marilyn Manson has settled a lawsuit that was set to go to trial next week, in which an anonymous woman alleged that he sexually assaulted her in 2011, when she was underage, and then threatened to murder her family if she told anyone.
In the suit against Brian Warner (Manson’s real name), the accuser — identified as Jane Doe – claimed that the shock-rocker raped her on his tour bus.
“Warner performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon Plaintiff (Jane Doe), who was a virgin at the time, including but not limited to forced copulation and vaginal penetration,” alleged the suit, filed in 2021.

Ed Sheeran won a copyright infringement trial on Thursday, and so has music itself, at least according to some music copyright experts.
With Sheeran coming away victorious in the much-publicized “Thinking Out Loud”/ “Let’s Get It On” trial, music copyright experts tell Rolling Stone they’re hopeful the decision will chill what they describe as frivolous lawsuits going forward, as the verdict tells those looking to sue that winning out isn’t so simple.

One of the three remaining sex abuse lawsuits filed against shock rocker Marilyn Manson was dismissed by a federal judge in Los Angeles Tuesday after the plaintiff, Ashley Morgan Smithline, missed a key deadline.
The court previously granted Smithline’s prior lawyer permission to withdraw from the case on Oct. 5. It then gave Smithline two months to keep the case alive by either hiring new representation or filing a status report stating she was ready to represent herself. She never responded.
