We bid farewell to Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame, and while the character did return for a prequel adventure in the Black Widow solo movie, Scarlett Johansson has made it clear that she is officially done playing the hero - but that doesn't mean she's completely finished with the MCU.
During the Black Widow press rounds a few years ago, Kevin Feige revealed that he was collaborating with Johansson in a producing capacity on a "non-Black Widow related top-secret Marvel Studios project," and the actress confirmed that she is still on board during a 2023 interview.
"It is still happening. Yes," Johansson told ComicBook.com during the Asteroid City junket. "It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We're all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers' strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth."

Michael Douglas played Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, in the MCU. Douglas has appeared in all three Ant-Man films, starting with the first one in 2015. However, he was not entirely happy working in the latest film in the trilogy since the filmmakers failed to implement his one wish for his character. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a disaster at the box office and it is highly doubtful whether Douglas would appear in another MCU film.
Michael Douglas as Hank Pym in Ant-Man
Douglas’ Hank Pym is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, entomologist, and physicist. He was a friend and colleague of John Slattery’s Howard Stark and Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter. Interestingly, Douglas chose the Ant-Man role after a few failed projects.

Kevin Feige and his team had big ambitions when they started the MCU back in 2008. The plan was to introduce key members of the Avengers including Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America in their solo films first to make audiences care about the characters. The solo storylines would ultimately culminate in a crossover film which became The Avengers in 2012.
The original six Avengers in 2012’s The Avengers
The big risk paid off as the MCU’s Avengers team incredibly resonated with audiences. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Hawkeye became the original 6 Avengers. However, director Joss Whedon almost included the Wasp in the film, played by Zooey Deschanel, who was supposed to have a major presence in the film.

Scarlett Johansson Once Expressed Her Discomfort With Being A “Recognizable Face”(Photo Credit –Instagram)
Many often desire fame and popularity, but people do not know the perils of being a public figure. With the advent of camera phones, even ordinary people can breach celebrities’ personal space. The actors and actresses often speak about it in their interviews and say how annoying that is sometimes. Marvel star Scarlett Johansson once opened up about the dark side of fame and called it weird.
ScarJo has been in the entertainment industry for a long time and has done some notable works. But her fame reached new heights after appearing as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU. She played the part from 2010 to 2021. Besides her work in the MCU, she has been praised for her performances in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, which earned her two Academy Awards nods.

Russian Pussy Riot dissident Nadya Tolokonnikova has welcomed a pledge by Alexei Navalny’s widow Yulia Navalnaya to carry on his fight for democracy, following his death in an Arctic penal colony last week.
Speaking just hours after Navalnaya released a video statement vowing to continue her late husband’s political campaign, Tolokonnikova said she would be “an amazing figure to unite Russian opposition.”
“Today Yulia Navalnaya came out with a really beautiful statement and I was hoping she was going to make this statement because in my mind she only had two choices to retreat into depression or to continue fighting,” Tolokonnikova told Deadline at the Cinema for Peace gala dinner in Berlin on Monday evening.

Black Widow's track record in the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn't always been flawless. The highs ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier") were certainly high, but the lows ("Avengers: Age of Ultron") were just as low. Still, the operative otherwise known as Natasha Romanoff was always the McU's secret weapon. She practically ran away with every film she appeared in, and for a large part of the franchise's initial run, she was one of the few female characters making a consistent impact. But as Johansson continued to turn in solid supporting performances, it was hard to ignore the fact that she'd yet to get a chance to stand on her own.
By the time Marvel finally delivered a solo Black Widow project, it felt like way too little, too late. "Black Widow" found itself somewhere in the middle of the franchise's 15-year output: it did its title character justice, in a way,...

David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves and Mo Brings Plenty as Minco Dodge in ‘Lawmen: Bass Reeves’ episode 4 (Photo Credit: Lauren Smith / Paramount+)
Paramount+’s Lawmen: Bass Reeves episode four kicks off with an unusual scene. Bass (David Oyelowo) sings while shooting a hole through a hat. He’s wearing tattered clothing, and it’s quickly obvious this is part of a carefully planned disguise.
The reason? Reeves needs to appear nonthreatening when he arrives at a woman’s door. Although initially leery of this stranger’s appearance, the woman – Widow Dolliver (Dale Dickey) – lowers her rifle and invites him inside, impressed that he can quote the Bible.
Her adult children, Wiley and Darrell, show up at dinner time and get into a fistfight…not with Bass, but amongst themselves. Widow Dolliver asks Bass’ help in moving them into the bedroom, all the while fretting about the sleepless nights these ne’er-do-wells have cost her.

The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could face more than world-ending villains as the once-money-printing superhero arena struggles to recover from a pandemic, industry-wide strikes, and audience fatigue. In September, Marvel creatives gathered for an annual retreat, including Marvel studio chief Kevin Feige. Traditionally, cocksure enthusiasm fuels these brainstorming sessions, with creatives riding high off the studio’s latest box-office-breaking success story. However, several discouraging factors continue to haunt the MCU since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, a finale that many see as the end of an era for the cinematic superhero boom.

Kiss are being sued by the widow of late longtime guitar tech Francis “Fran” Stueber, who died after contracting Covid while the band was on tour in 2021.
Catherine Stueber, along with several members of her family, are claiming both negligence and wrongful death against Kiss, naming founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, longtime manager Doc McGhee, Kiss’ “End of the Road Tour” promoter Live Nation, and hotel chain Marriott International as defendants.
The suit, obtained by Rolling Stone, states, “As a direct and proximate result of the dangerous condition created by Defendants, Decedent suffered fatal injuries and Plaintiffs suffered damages, including, but not limited to funeral and burial expenses, the permanent deprivation of the love companionship, affection solace, society, comfort, assistance, services and financial contributions, and moral support of Decedent in an amount according to proof at trial.”

Scarlett Johansson became synonymous with the superhero Black Widow after portraying the character for various Marvel projects. But initially, she decided to star in the franchise expecting and welcoming the toll it might take on her.
Scarlett Johansson wanted to push herself with Marvel films Scarlett Johansson | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Johansson’s Black Widow was first introduced to audiences in 2010’s Iron Man 2. She fought hard for the role and nearly lost it. The film’s director Jon Favreau wanted to cast Emily Blunt as Widow at the time.
Johansson took potentially losing the part to Blunt hard back then, especially since she wasn’t nabbing the kinds of roles she wanted.
“I had wanted that role so much. It was sort of the straw that broke the camel’s back. I felt really frustrated and hopeless,” she said in an interview with Variety, “Like, ‘Am I doing the right job?...

After taking over the reins of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, director Chris McQuarrie quickly put his own stamp on the series. From 2015's "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" to 2023's "Dead Reckoning Part One," McQuarrie's take on the series has brought it back to its roots in creating heightened, suspenseful espionage scenarios. It's also made the movies even bigger.
The stunts of Ethan Hunt are one aspect in which the series has to consistently top itself. But for McQuarrie, it's also important that each movie embraces a different kind of spectacular filmmaking, something spontaneous and creative that goes beyond simple James Bond-esque globetrotting gunfights and car chases. Because of that impulse, he might have gone too far with a scene in 2018's "Mission: Impossible - Fallout," which is probably why it didn't make the final cut.
The scene in question would have involved the introduction of Alanna Mitsopolis (Vanessa Kirby), or the White Widow,...

Business-wise, "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One" may have been a slight victim of the Barbenheimer phenomenon, but that didn't mean that Christopher McQuarrie's third entry in the franchise wasn't another stellar piece of blockbuster entertainment from what is easily the greatest Hollywood franchise going.
Paramount Pictures made the weird decision of opening "Dead Reckoning" just one week before all the premium screens were swallowed up by "Oppenheimer." However, for those of us who did see it on those screens (I actually saw it four times), it blew us away with its impeccable craft, breathless action, and fun, twisty, timely tale of artificial intelligence. In fact, it currently sits atop my list as the best film of 2023 so far, and when the lights went up in the theater after the film ended, I wanted to watch "Dead Reckoning Part Two" immediately.

This The Walking Dead: Dead City review contains spoilers.
The Walking Dead: Dead City Episode 6
The first season of The Walking Dead: Dead City has spent a great deal of time developing some kind of bond between Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan). It’s entirely one-sided, as this episode shows, with Negan doing everything he can to try and help Maggie get past the lingering trauma of Glenn’s death at his hand. Maggie couldn’t let it go in season 11 of The Walking Dead, and she cannot let it go now, even though Hershel (Logan Kim) is a teenager and she’s moved on from Hilltop and Alexandria. Hershel long ago let the urge to kill Negan go. Negan long ago atoned for the sins of his past (to most people he’s offended). However, Maggie can’t let it go.
Maggie isn’t Maggie Greene anymore.

While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny marks Harrison Ford’s final performance as Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr., the franchise may continue with another character leading future expeditions into the unknown. I’m talking about Indy’s goddaughter, Helena Shaw. Phoebe Waller-Bridge brings the character to life in the James Mangold-directed sequel. From what I’ve heard, Helena is a highlight of the new film, and the franchise’s future could rest in her capable hands. In a recent interview with Variety, producer Kathleen Kennedy says it’s “entirely possible” for Waller-Bridge to continue the brand.
Speaking with Variety about the new film, its mixed reception, and the franchise’s future, Mangold becomes visibly excited when the outlet broaches the topic of Helena Shaw. Mangold says he and the Butterworths (Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth) wrote the character specifically for Waller-Bridge, including elements of what made...

Scarlett Johansson had to get used to wearing her Black Widow costume, especially in the 2012 Marvel film The Avengers. Johansson confided she experienced the most frustrations with her superhero outfit in the team-up flick.
Why Scarlett Johansson felt like a ‘discount Widow’ in ‘The Avengers’ Scarlett Johansson | Taylor Hill/FilmMagic
Johansson’s Black Widow costume was initially a fashion choice she had to get accustomed to. She’d done research on her character beforehand, so the actor wasn’t completely blindsided by her new superhero wardrobe. But even all of her research didn’t completely prepare Johansson for what she was about to wear.
“I knew it was going to be some kind of sexy unitard, because I had researched the character in the comics,” Johansson once told Sci-Fi Movie Page. “I’ve never worn anything like it before, so I had a freak-out moment that lasted about half a day,...

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18th, and the first clip from the highly-anticipated sequel has arrived. The clip features Harrison Ford in a high-speed chase alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge as they trade banter while being pursued through the streets.
The original Indiana Jones movies continue to be some of my favourites, so I’ve got high hopes for Dial of Destiny, particularly as it will be the last time we see Harrison Ford in the role. “I’ve been able to deliver amazing films developed by Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] over a 40-year period, and to end it not with a whimper, but a bang, has been my greatest ambition for this excursion,” Harrison Ford said. “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. Slasher: Ripper follows a mysterious serial killer in 19th-century Toronto amidst other violent acts committed by the people of the city. But “Widow,” as the killer is dubbed by Enid Jenkins, the town’s journalist, isn’t killing random people; everything relates to a particular event that took place 12 years ago. Young Detective Kenneth is right on target in his search for the Widow, but his boss isn’t keen on finding out who is after his city because he may have been involved in the crime that went down 12 years ago. Slasher is definitely for pure indulgence, as every episode ends or begins with a grisly death that the viewer looks forward to; sometimes, it almost feels like an overacted play.

It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Steven Spielberg directing an Indiana Jones movie, but the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny helmed by James Mangold has gotten the stamp of approval from the man himself.
While speaking at the Time 100 Summit (via Variety), Steven Spielberg revealed that he’s already watched Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and loved it. “I just had that experience two nights ago,” Spielberg said. “Bob Iger had a screening for a lot of the Disney executives, and I came to the screening along with the director James Mangold. Everybody loved the movie. It’s really, really a good ‘Indiana Jones’ film. I’m really proud of what Jim has done with it.” Spielberg added, “When the lights came up I just turned to the group and said, ‘Damn! I thought I was the only one who knew how to make one of these.

For most of his existence as a cinematic icon, Steven Spielberg was the only one who ever directed an "Indiana Jones" movie, dating back to the all-time blockbuster classic "Raiders of the Lost Ark." And, as far as the movies go, it's mostly only been Harrison Ford who has played him. But the first part of that equation is set to change with this summer's "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," as James Mangold is directing this time around. Luckily, he's received Spielberg's seal of approval.
Speaking as part of the Time100 Summit recently, the master filmmaker addressed the upcoming fifth entry in the long-running franchise. Spielberg was asked about watching an "Indiana Jones" film that he didn't direct, and he offered some kind words for Mangold's film, saying the following:
"Everybody loved the movie. It's really, really a good 'Indiana Jones' film. I'm really proud of what...

I have an opinion: "Slasher" is better than "American Horror Story."
Maybe that's not so controversial to say in 2023, when the popular horror anthology series created by Ryan Murphy hasn't had a good season in almost five years, and hasn't had a great one in over 10. "AHS" premiered in 2011, the same year that the sci-fi/technology-run-amok anthology series "Black Mirror" premiered. Curiously, though "Black Mirror" was just as popular, and was covered as furiously as "AHS" was in its prime, its influence on subsequent sci-fi visions seems to have jumped mediums to film. One can imagine pressing play on a new season of "Black Mirror" and watching films like "Ex-Machina," "The Circle," and "Vivarium," were a few minutes shaved off each.
"AHS," however, spawned a veritable renaissance in horror anthology series, from HBO's "Room 104," to Hulu's "Castle Rock," to Syfy's "Channel Zero." Before "AHS," you'd have to...

An Avengers: Endgame deleted scene could prove that a popular theory about the villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) has been true all along.
The clip, which you can watch on streaming service Disney Plus, is an alternate version of a conversation between Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) featured in the film.
Swinton’s character can be seen telling Hulk that removing an Infinity Stone creates a new timeline. However, she then goes on to reveal something that was omitted from the film – that she’s already used the Time Stone to see beyond her very own death.
It’s here where she drops the huge revelation that Thanos’s destructive finger-snap, which wiped out half of all existence, didn’t actually kill a single person.
She explains that, rather than kill people, Thanos willed them out of existence, which is what made their eventual resurrection possible.

The latest chapter of Slasher is well underway.
On Slasher: Ripper Episode 3, Basil (Eric McCormack) is on a mission to unmask the Widow.
In doing so, he realizes that someone from his rich inner circle might be responsible.
If the Widow taught us anything in the first two episodes of this Shudder and AMC+ drama, they are ready to dole out justice towards the elite.
As a result, people are dropping like flies, and it looks like Basil and his powerful friends are harboring a fateful secret about an event several years before.
In an exclusive clip shared with TV Fanatic, we see the extent Basil is willing to go to get answers.
He's not the nicest person, but he strikes me as the kind of person who will find answers easier than some other characters.

Lucasfilm unveiled a brand new trailer for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” during the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase at the Star Wars Celebration convention in London on Friday.
Described as the final film in the franchise, “Indiana Jones 5” finds Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as the legendary hero archaeologist grapples with a new era (1969) and new characters (Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays his goddaughter Helena Shaw). The globe-trotting trek will take Indy to Morocco and Sicily. Glasgow serves as the location for a 1969 moon landing parade.
This new trailer plays on the notion that Indy is ready to retire, but he’s pulled back into one last adventure, this time against an old foe. Yes indeed, Nazis are the bad guys once more, but the device at the center of the story — the Dial of Destiny — appears to potentially allow Mads Mikkelsen’s baddie to go back in time...

The man with the hat is back ... for one last ride. Harrison Ford is returning to the role of Indiana Jones for a final time with "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." This marks the first "Indy" movie not helmed by Steven Spielberg — instead, the filmmaker handed over duties to James Mangold, a good choice all things considered. This latest adventure drops Indy into the 1960s and sets him on a whole new journey that may or may not involve time travel. At the very least, its going to involve a de-aged Ford, who plays his younger Indy self in flashbacks.
The new "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" trailer dropped during Star Wars Celebration, and you can watch it below.

The Slasher franchise has had a rabid fanbase since 2016 when the series launched.
The fifth chapter takes the franchise back to the late 19th century, with a killer stalking the streets.
Instead of targeting the poor and downtrodden like Jack the Ripper, a serial killer named The Widow is going after the rich and powerful.
Eric McCormack is one of the new faces on Slasher Ripper, taking on the role of Basil Garvey.
The actor told TV Fanatic ahead of the premiere that he wasn't familiar with the franchise before signing up, but he was intrigued by the setting.
Horror is new to McCormack, but he was attracted to the show based on the character alone.
"What I loved was just how brutal this guy's language was," he said with a laugh.
"I couldn't wait to say those lines!"

The cast of Marvel‘s Thunderbolts is ready to welcome Minari and Nope star Steven Yeun to the fold! According to Deadline, the Oscar-nominated actor is joining Thunderbolts for a critical role. While the details of Yeun’s character remain a mystery, he could appear in multiple future projects. If I had to guess who Yeun is playing, my money would be on Nova or Sentry. I’m stabbing in the dark, so don’t take my word on it. It’s just a gut feeling I have.
Disney announced the main cast of Thunderbolts at last year’s D23. The film will see David Harbour returning as Red Guardian, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Steven Yeun is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Oscar-nominated actor will make his first appearance in “Thunderbolts,” joining the star-studded cast of Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
It’s not clear who Yeun is playing in the film, which is expected to start shooting in June. It’s likely that his character, whoever it may be, will play a role in the future of the sprawling MCU.
Jake Schreier is directing “Thunderbolts,” which is due in theaters on July 26, 2024. The anti-hero adventure is intended to conclude the MCU’s Phase Five, which began with “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and continues with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “The Marvels,” “Captain America: New World Order,” “Blade” and “Deadpool 3.”
Eric Pearson (“Black Widow”) is writing the script, which has been kept under wraps. In the comics, “Thunderbolts” brings together several bad guys across the MCU to...

Indiana Jones is back and so is John Williams’ iconic score in the fifth film of the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Lucasfilm dropped a new 30-second spot for the first new film of the series since 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull during Super Bowl Lvii.
Harrison Ford, currently seen battling sheepherders and fighting to protect the Yellowstone Ranch on 1923, puts on Indy’s iconic hat and picks up his lasso once more. He’s joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther), and Thomas Kretschmann (Das Boot).
Additional stars include Toby Jones (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Oliver Richters (Black Widow), Ethann Isidore (Mortel), and Mads Mikkelsen (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore).
Ford v Ferrari‘s James Mangold directs, with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel producing.

‘The Bear’ breakout star Ayo Edebiri has joined Marvel Studios’ anti-hero team-up feature ‘Thunderbolts’ in an undisclosed role. Jake Schreier is directing from a script by Eric Pearson. As is the case with every Marvel Studios production, Kevin Feige is producing, reports Variety.
Feige announced ‘Thunderbolts’ at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, as the climax of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is currently set to premiere on July 26, 2024, reports Variety.
‘Thunderbolts’ will bring together several anti-heroes across the MCU, including from ‘Black Widow’, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko); from ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and John Walker (Wyatt Russell); and from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine – who’s appeared in ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’, ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ – will lead the team; Louis-Dreyfus recently...

One of the best aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the way anyone can reappear at any time. Even when you think they've forgotten a character like Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) from "The Incredible Hulk," he'll come back as the Leader in "Captain America: New World Order." Did anyone expect Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to show up in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?" And who knew Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) and Darcy (Kat Dennings) would make a great team to investigate the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)? Putting familiar characters in new combinations is part of the fun of comics, after all.
Sometimes, though, enough is enough. Whether it's dead characters who won't stay dead or bad characters who keep ruining our enjoyment with their presence, some just don't need to come back. Whether a return would cheapen a fantastic exit, belabor a joke, or simply annoy us...

Announced last year, “Slasher: Ripper” is on the way from Shudder, the brand new fifth season of the slasher-based horror anthology series that originally kicked off back in 2016.
Today we’ve learned that the series premieres April 6 on Shudder and AMC+.
“Slasher: Ripper” takes the franchise back in time to the late 19th century and stars Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) as Basil Garvey, a charismatic tycoon whose success is only rivaled by his ruthlessness, as he oversees a city on the cusp of a new century, and a social upheaval that will see its streets run red with blood.
There’s a killer stalking the mean streets, but instead of targeting the poor and downtrodden like Jack the Ripper, The Widow is meting out justice against the rich and powerful.
The only person standing in the way of this killer is the newly promoted detective, Kenneth Rijkers, whose ironclad belief...

We still don’t know exactly what Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be about, but I’m just thrilled to have one more adventure with my favourite archeologist. Director James Mangold isn’t about to spill the beans, but he did tell Entertainment Weekly that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will play with the journey of a “hero at sunset,” much like Logan.
I’m always interested in this idea of a hero at sunset. What does the hero do when the world no longer has a place for him? I find it really interesting to try to look at classical heroes through the prism of our jaundiced contemporary attitudes.
James Mangold was quick to note that while Logan was a “very purposefully and intentionally grim adventure, very dramatic, and very serious,” The Dial of Destiny will be different. “I am under no illusions that...
