“Daybreakers” looks like it has the makings of a nice, fun action-horror movie, but I never really thought it would be more than that. Unfortunately, all the clips I’m seeing for the film doesn’t change my mind. I still think it’ll be a decent genre entry, and the Spierigs have certainly shown that they know action, but nothing released so far has changed my mind that this will be a good, but not great movie. Anyways, here’s the latest clip from I09 featuring Ethan Hawke and his bro, a vampire whose job it is to hunt humans. They don’t get along, but then again, what brothers do? Starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Sam Neill, Isabel Lucas, Vince Colosimo, Jay Laga’aia, Claudia Karvan, Christopher Kirby, Michael Dorman, Mungo McKay, Emma Randall, and due out January 8, 2010. Also a new poster from the movie:...

If the last “Daybreakers” poster wasn’t “Matrix”-y looking enough for you, the new quad poster from across the pond tries to re-enforce the point home. And oh yeah, it also apparently has a little dash of “28 Days Later” in it, although from what I’ve seen, including the recent new faux PSA TV spot for the movie, it doesn’t look anything at all like “28 Days Later”. But hey, some guy from Variety says it is, so who am I to disagree? “Daybreakers” finally show up on January 8, 2010. Starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Sam Neill, Isabel Lucas, Vince Colosimo, Jay Laga’aia, Claudia Karvan, Christopher Kirby, Michael Dorman, Mungo McKay, Emma Randall, and directed by the brothers Spierig.

It's over. I can't believe it's over. Chaos Reigned. I was ready for it to be over; eight days of films and fun, nearly nonstop, it can't go on forever, and the party has to end. But it ended on several high notes.
I had a brief interview with the Spierig brothers, who brought Daybreakers in for the Closing Night film, although it's not getting released until January. Despite my forgetting my notebook and being dead-tired, the highlight was their response to my saying "How can you forget someone who pulls a gun out of their ass?!" Having seen Undead, and loving it, it's hard to forget Mungo McKay.
I ended up walking out of Dirty Mind, not because the film is bad, but because I was tired, and not in the mood for white-on-light subtitles. Bad subtitles is a pet peeve of mine, especially having seen amazing ones in...

Fango spoke to longtime New Zealand producer Dale Bradley, who tackled his first job in Australia with Malibu Shark Attack, a killer-fish film that lensed in Queensland under the title Goblin Shark Attack and premieres on the Sci Fi Channel (which co-produced the movie, and is soon to be known as Syfy) this summer. Bradley passed on a couple of production pics (see them below), and explains the flick’s odd original moniker.
The onscreen predators “are based on a species called goblin sharks [see art at bottom], which don’t look like your normal great white,” Bradley tells us. “They’re very fearsome-looking creatures. Ours are actually larger than the real thing, but modeled on them for the look that the CG company created. People do catch these things, but ours are monsters that get released from a big underground cavern during a seaquake. The resulting tsunami washes them ashore. Not only do...
