It’s been three years since prolific singer-songwriter Steve Earle and country star Allison Moorer divorced. But for Earle, the pain of that loss is still very much alive.
In a revealing interview with The Guardian, the 62-year-old musician got candid about his relationship with Moorer —his sixth wife, seventh marriage (he wed Lou-Anne Grill twice), and the woman identified as the love of his life.
The two had a whirlwind romance and were together for eight years (the longest of any of Earle’s marriages). Both musicians, they often toured side-by-side. Earle would even famously introduce Moorer on stage...

Before Batman and Spider-man, there were American western folk heroes. Characters based off of real live people who roamed the wild west like Bufallo Bill, Jesse James and Billy the Kid. One of these western folk heroes was John Henry "Doc" Holliday, who if past films has been portrayed by Kirk Douglas, Val Kilmer and Dennis Quaid. Doc Holliday went from being a dentist to one of the deadliest gunslingers of the west. He took part in the epic gunfight at the O.K. Corral alongside Wyatt Erap, which has been featured in such films like Tombstone and Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
According to The Hollywood Repoter, PalmStar Media has optioned the rights to two novels by Mary Dora Russell one being, Doc and Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral. This book is considered to be the seminal book on Doc Holliday that chronicles his life from...

Doc Holliday is one of my favorite legends from the old west. I've always enjoyed the stories that revolve around him. My favorite on-screen portrayal of the gunslinger came from Val Kilmer in the classic film Tombstone. He was so damn good in that role!
Now there's a new movie going into development in which Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Avengers) will play John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday and I'm actually pretty interested to see what his vision of the legend will be like.
According to THR, the film will be based on two novels written by Mary Doria Russell, which include Doc: A Novel and Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral. Those books were optioned by Palmstar Media, who is also producing the film. Producer Kevin Renner had this to say in a statement:

According to reports, actor Jeremy Renner aka 'Hawkeye' in the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe', will next play 'Old West' gunfighter 'John Henry "Doc" Holliday' for PalmStar Media, produced by Kevin Frakes:
"We are excited to re-introduce this classic American character to a whole new audience," said Renner, "by chronicling 'Doc Holliday’ and his incredible transformation from 'average Joe' dentist to a man who 'Wyatt Earp' called the ‘deadliest man with a six-gun'".
Adapting author Mary Doria Russell's novel "Doc", the film will take a closer look at the 'love triangle' between Holliday, his prostitute wife, 'Big Nose Kate Elder' and best friend, lawman 'Wyatt Earp'.
'John Henry Holliday' was born in 1851 in Griffin Georgia. In 1872, after earning his 'Doctor of Dental Surgery', he opened an office in Atlanta with a fellow graduate, but was diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Jeremy Renner plans to produce and star in a movie about the life of legendary gunslinger Doc Holliday, according to the Tracking Board.
The film will be based on two novels by Mary Doria Russell, Doc and Epitaph: A Novel Of The O.K. Corral, which document Holliday’s life from his days as a dentist to his stand with Wyatt Earp during the infamous shootout in Tombstone, Arizona.
Born in Georgia in 1851, John Henry 'Doc' Holliday graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery and started a practice in Atlanta, but was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Surmising that the climate of the American Southwest might be easier on him, he moved to Arizona where he became a gambler and struck up a friendship with Wyatt Earp.

Comic Book Reviews: DC Round Up Week 09-14-2016
DC is settling into its new focused style of content storytelling, and producing some fantastic stories thanks to the new approach. While mostly everything has been a hit, there have been a few snags as well. One issue I keep having is trying to figure out how it all “fits” together in a bigger picture. Some books seem closer connected others; some appear not connected all to the larger DC Universe. This might not be a problem for most, it can be a little jarring for me, when I’m reading Batgirl is running around Japan in her book, but is also hanging out with Huntress and Black Canary in the Birds of Prey series, while appearing in Nightwing and referencing her time currently in Japan, but Black Canary appears in Green Arrow without any indication she’s even been to Gotham or around Batgirl.

★★☆☆☆ Just as John Henry Clayton thought he was out, they pull him back in. Directed by Jon Cassar, Forsaken is a humdrum Western which never demonstrates even the suggestion of a trick up its sleeve. Kiefer Sutherland tops the bill as a reformed gunslinger, a prodigal son returning home from the Civil War to a town under the leather boot of no good rootin' tootin' bad guys. With a desire to put a life of killing behind him, live off the land, rekindle an old flame and reconcile with his preacher father – played by Sutherland Sr., Donald – John Henry is running away from a chequered past.

The dividing line between a film being an homage and a rip-off is sorely tested with "Forsaken", a 2015 Canadian Western by director Jon Cassar, who is best known for his acclaimed, award-winning work in television. This is a rare venture into feature film making for him and the result left me with decidedly mixed emotions. The film marks another collaboration between Cassar and actor Kiefer Sutherland, who starred in Cassar's wildly successful TV series "24". That the two men are comfortable with each other's style is immediately apparent from the first frames of the film. We want to extend kudos to them for bravely venturing where few in the movie industry dare to tread any longer: the realm of the Western, a genre that has been routinely neglected for decades. Despite the success of Westerns such as "Unforgiven", "Dances With Wolves" and "Open Range", studio chiefs can't seem...

A natural born gunslinger’s futile attempt at redemption, only to be pulled back into violence due to inevitable circumstances, is such a common trope in westerns that it would be easier to count the number of genre examples that don’t exploit it. One of the best films centered around this theme is “Unforgiven,” yet it would be unfair to compare any new similar feature to Clint Eastwood’s genre-bending masterpiece, since only a handful of movies are as good, especially when it comes to pitch perfect screenplays. Read More: 5 Things You Might Not Know About 'The Lost Boys' “Forsaken” follows the “gunslinger with a violent past looking for a peaceful future” template so closely that even the protagonist’s name, John Henry (Kiefer Sutherland), is exactly the name you’d expect that character to have in a western like this. The western movie streak continues! There have been a lot of good westerns recently that include The Hateful Eight, Bone Tomahawk, and Slow West, and Jane Got a Gun is coming up. We’ve got another one on the way called Forsaken, and it stars father and son duo Kiefer and Donald Sutherland. I’ve gotta say, it’s pretty cool to see the Sutherlands starring in a movie together like this. It looks like it will be a decent film worth checking out, especially if you’re into westerns.
In 1872, John Henry Clayton (Kiefer Sutherland) retires as a gunfighter and returns to his hometown of Fowler, Wyoming in hope of repairing his relationship with his estranged father, Reverend Clayton (Donald Sutherland). However, he soon learns that the town is in turmoil, as the railroad will be coming through the area and a criminal gang is terrorizing ranchers who refuse to sell their land.

"Are them stories true about the men you killed?" Momentum Pictures has debuted a trailer for the western Forsaken, about an embittered gunslinger who attempts to make amends with his estranged father whilst their community is besieged by ruthless land-grabbers. After an epic year for westerns, including Bone Tomahawk, Slow West, The Hateful Eight and even Jauja and The Revenant to an extent, we’ll get a few more this year. Following Aferim! and Jane Got a Gun this month, Forsaken will arrive in February, and today brings the first trailer.
Led by both Kiefer Sutherland and Donald Sutherland, the film follows the former as a retired gunslinger who returns to his hometown in order to the mend the relationship with his estranged father — you can guess who — but they get involved with protecting the area. Coming from longtime 24 producer and director Jon Cassar, we didn’t hear much about it when it premiered at Tiff last year, but hopefully it’s a sleeper surprise this spring.

TV shows have found many different ways over the years to work around the pregnancy of their actresses. Sometimes, they do lots of episodes where their characters are always sitting behind a desk, or holding a giant purse, or (in a memorable "Cheers" episode when Shelley Long was pregnant) trapped in an air conditioning duct. "The X-Files" had Scully get abducted, while "Frasier" simply suggested that Daphne had just put on a lot of weight. "New Girl" is taking a multi-pronged approach for its next season. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is a title that I’ve been curious about since its initial reveal, both because of its intriguing premise and the pedigree of the development team behind it. Intelligent Systems has not only worked on such Nintendo franchises as Paper Mario and WarioWare, but has also been the company’s go-to team when it comes to strategy games. That includes the Advance Wars and Fire Emblem series.
Considering how much I enjoyed 2013’s Fire Emblem Awakening, the idea of Intelligent Systems getting the opportunity to start a fresh new strategy series was very tantalizing. However, the final product, while not bad, falls short of greatness in several areas, be it the presentation, controls, and mechanics. It’s a respectable first attempt, but also one that feels like it could have used some more fine-tuning.

Actors who are cast in a film together often posses a certain quality or look that make them suitable as co-stars. And in this world of sequels, prequels, remakes, and competing franchises, it can be those same characteristics that also make them fitting for the same roles. Here are ten sets of actors who had played, or ended up playing, the same character as their co-star - but in a different movie (with a couple of television series exceptions):
Vito Corleone - Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando
Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro both earned Oscars for their portrayals of Vito Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather trilogy. Decades later, the two Vito Corleones starred together in the 2001 heist thriller The Score, which was directed by the voice of Yoda himself, Frank Oz — an offer they couldn't refuse, he must have made them.

Liverpool have enquired over the availability of Tottenham playmaker and Icelandic international, Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to Caught Offside. Valued at somewhere in the vicinity of £10million, Sigurdsson could be just one of several new recruits to Merseyside in the January transfer window.
Despite being amongst the highest scorers in the 2013 calendar year, Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of Liverpool’s desire to expand their goal scoring prowess as he looks to introduce players who can provide assistance to the mercurial Luis Suarez.
Why is this move a distinct possibility? First and foremost the money is there for Rodgers to spend. He has the complete backing from John Henry and his consortium and all agree that Liverpool needs to add to the squad in each of the upcoming windows. Secondly, Sigurdsson and Rodgers have history together and a reunion could definitely benefit both parties. Gylfi played under...

There haven't been a lot of comedy westerns save Blazing Saddles, Three Amigos and Wild Wild West, none of which were released in the new millennium. Thankfully, Hulu breathed new life into the genre with its original series Quick Draw, an improvised comedy from 10 Items or Less' John Lehrand Nancy Hower.
Quick Draw follows Sheriff John Henry Hoyle (Lehr), a bumbling Harvard grad who is so confident in his intellectual superiority he even boasts about graduating 327th in his class. Now living in Great Bend, Kansas, Hoyle attempts to introduce forensics to the local rubes, who include the dim-witted Deputy Eli (newcomer Nick Brown), the brazen brothel owner Honey (The Sopranos' Allison Dunbar) and the mopey Undertaker Vernon Shank (Cougar Town's Bob Clendenin).

Shortly after James Brown died on Christmas Day, 2006, Brian Grazer, then collaborating with director Spike Lee, announced that the producer was finally making good on his long-cherished dream of making a biopic of the music legend's life. Cries of “too soon!” rang out, and the universe may have listened, because there has been little progress until recently. Or, more likely, the usual delays and changes in development took their toll. Today, however, Variety brings word that 42 star Chadwick Boseman has been set to play Brown. The Help’s Tate Taylor is still attached to direct the film, working from Jez and John Henry Butterworth’s script. Taylor’s aim is to tell Brown’s story from his early days in poverty in Georgia and his rise to become a world famous R&B musician who produced a string of hits including Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag and I...

The Hulu original series, "Quick Draw," is a half-hour procedural comedy set in the Old West. It has, however, something of a modern sensibility to it. In this exclusive clip from Monday's upcoming episode, we see that sensibility in a video for a "whiskey support group for not drinking whiskey."
Part of episode 5 -- available on Hulu starting on Monday (Aug. 26) -- the clip shows what happens when the good citizens of Great Bend, Kansas gather together for what they thought was a group for drinking whiskey. Alas, it seems that the Alcoholics Anonymous model isn't such a hit with the men (and woman) of the frontier.

The creators and star of the TBS sitcom "10 Items or Less" debuted their new web series "Quick Draw" on Hulu Monday. The semi-historical, semi-improvisational Western comedy stars John Lehr, Robert Clendenin and Ralph Garman. Lehr plays John Henry Hoyle, the sheriff of Great Bend, Kans. -- a Harvard alum, which he seems happy to tell the generally unimpressed population.
